Thanks to watching this channel I've restored 3 wheelbarrows, in the middle of a 4th (weather permitting) and have a 5th one that is from the 50's or 60's that I will eventually get to (barn find). Also I've restored several tools including a hammer that was buried in sand for at least 20 years, 2 other hammers (bit rusty), several old Craftsman wrenches, and a socket that was left in the field (I live on a farm). Just find something that needs repairing and start working on it, you will love the results once you are done.

That is a very unique lamp! I didn't understand what the purpose of the 2 voltage meters was for. Which is ok. I'm not an electrician. You did an excellent job putting the lamp back together. I was happy to see that the paint came off the label. It's just a little detail but it makes the restoration perfect. Avril was watching you very close on this job. Maybe he thinks he can sleep under the light for warmth.

The original designer needs credit for a design that keeps the wires hidden but not in such a way to where the wires would be getting damaged at the joints when moved, it was genius.
Love the restoration, and the base you produced. From the base top repairing, the meters you put on it, to making the exposed new wires looking like they were old cloth covered wires was brilliantly done. I've removed wiring from an old out building we repaired, removing the old fixtures and outlets (American 2 prong ones, no ground wires), and that is exactly how the old cloth covered wires from the 50's looked. Wonderfully done.

    Great job!
With your permission, a few suggestions:
    1. The transformer is still supposed to be installed on a fireproof base. And under it - rubber / silicone coasters to avoid resonance with the box.
    2. In the back wall of the box, it was probably necessary to make ventilation holes, the transformer is still heated.
    3. It wires be better to take flexible, stranded wires to the voltmeter and ammeter, and terminate them with U-shaped or O-shaped tips. So it is more convenient to mount and the connections would look more aesthetic.
    4. The screws that secure the top covers of the box would look better in black (like the cases of a voltmeter and ammeter) or in nickel (like a switch).
    5. The lamp itself, if the base is made in the style of "Steam Punk", probably should have been painted in the color of shiny copper.
    Good luck!
P.S. Hi Avril from our Dulcinea :)

I was already thrilled that you chose to go with a shade of green close to the original - it seems to complement the design of the lamp itself so well. But then, to be treated to the creation of the base/pedestal? Truly a delight. What excellent craftsmanship in all respects.
