I got a tattoo on each of my arms because those were my go-tos when I used SH. One is a sibling tat with my brother and the other one my brother picked out for me. My goal is to get a tattoo over each of my SH areas. I use them as reminders of what I'm fighting for as well as motivation, I don't want to ruin the tattoos. Another thing I just realized that each tattoo is like a final "harm" to each area, I just remember how it felt getting the tattoo and it brings me back to those sensations in a good way.
thank you for sharing that! I love this and I love tattoos so this is definitely a good idea if you like tattoos!
I use ice and rubber bands to flick on my wrists, also try using play dough and cutting that!
Oh I love the play dough!!! that's a good one I'll add to part 2
I don’t know if this counts but I go for drives (not reckless) when I get the urges. I blast music and roll my windows down and it really gets me out of those thoughts!
I do this a lot too!
Yes this definitely counts and i love to go on drives when I am not feeling well! it's the best
This is difficult to explain. But what if you can’t pin point the exact emotion that is causing this. Sometimes this feeling is just “everything” and it’s hard to label.
It's normal not to know! that's why therapy is helpful and sometimes even in therapy it can take a long time to figure it out because of the years of trauma and probably a bunch of different emotions at the same time.
I dance to happy music and pluck my eyebrows at the same time. Then if that doesn’t work than I wrap bandages around my wrists to keep me from self harming and then I go talk to one of my family members. Not necessarily about my erges but whatever like how my day was and if there is any new t going around. I avoid being alone
I love this!! happy music super loud and plucking eyebrows is a great choice!
Okay I absolutely loved this one. I use ice all the time and it works wonders!! I used to draw on my veins on my arms back when I was in middle school and counseling called my parents. I was like "I'm just coping!" But I should def draw on myself more. Love it 💓
Thank you for sharing! I definitely think it's a better alternative than harming and it works as long as you are able to get the help you need in the meantime!! Counselors should know that so I am always shocked when I see things like this.
@@Micheline.Maalouf I feel like they don't pay attention in school counselor school 😂😂
Im feeling so lost right now... just lost and don‘t know how to help myself.
Hang in there. Stay strong. I can relate sometimes I feel vulnerable too.
Haha I’m not sure being around fire is a great idea when I want to sh but candles do smell great
i use red ice cubes!!
Love the ice cubes!!! thanks for sharing
For me, intense exercise really helps or taking on a really difficult physical feat like climbing a mountain. It is nothing but physical pain, but it distracts well from emotional suffering.
So you mean that people actually like seeing the color of their blood when they’re harming themselves that’s an eye-opener, that’s very very sad.
yes they do, for the reasons I mentioned in my last video
I was clean for 2 months but then I relapsed yesterday........
Every day is a new day! let's start again
😭 bruh dw I can't last more than 2 days. I believe In you, you made it so farrr
thank you so much❤
Is letting people cross your boundaries (in a bad way) considered self harm? (I’m not sure how to explain it but I’ve heard people say this (who weren’t therapists) and thought I’d ask).
I'm not an therapist but I will love to be one in the future.
It really depends, do or did they physically hurt you?
Are you allowing them coming into your personal boundaries even though you know they may hurt you?
These are important factors that the first one if you answer yes you need to talk with someone.
But the answer is no to me I call that abuse.
Self harm is when you do it your self or you make someone do it to you.
Hope I helped!
Thanks
