I was doing this drill today comparing various types of pistols to see what my speed and accuracy would be. Was using one of those formed paper head and chest targets. Amazing how many of the ‘head shots’ actually just grazed the cheek or part of the neck or might’ve been deflected by the skull leaving a non-lethal wound. The formed paper targets are nice because you can just mask them off and keep shooting to score your hits.
Can you do the drill in 0.96 s at 7 yards or more? Would be fun to see how close different youtube shooting channels will do in that challenge by polenar tactical.
That's the real thing. These video isn't real. The attack on Mike Rousseau started at 8 yards and his attacker was running trying to stab a bayonet at him. That's the reason he was capable of shooting the guerrilla warrior in the head. Considering a running man can cover 8 yards in less than 1.5 seconds, this kind of training must to include some kind of time measuring to be real. Mike's gun was in his hand, so there's no need to draw the pistol. But the first two shots must be extremely fast in order to have time to align the sights in order to get a head shot. You cannot use pistols sights for the first two shots to the chest.
I stop doing this drill several years ago and here is why, shooting the head is a small area not to mention you the shooter and your opponent are moving, chances of missing is very high, plus lm getting old. l started practicing shooting center mass and moving to the pelvic area for my failure drill you still have vital organs and vital limbs and more area to shoot or l'll do the zipper drill works just as good. Again is just my opinion.
Why waste the $1 (two bullets), just go for the head from the start... I call it the “Walking Dead” drill. Lol. All head shots, nothing else. Hahahaha. Good way to practice it is with post-it notes. If you don’t want to waste silhouette targets or don’t have any... 6” or 8” round paper plates stapled to the cardboard backer represent the upper chest and a 2”x2” or 3”x3” post it stapled above the plate represents the nose.
Yeah. Cause guy you'll be shooting at just wait in one place and let you tap him in between the eyes. It's easier to hit moving target which is size of a torso than one of a head size. Even f****g John Wick put one in the chest before going for a headshot
I think the reasoning here is that even if your combatant is wearing armor, the double tap is going to cause momentary freeze allowing for a higher probability of a good cranial shot. Nothing worse than a non lethal head shot. Because now you have no way to complete a kill without committing plain out murder with your combatant being incapacitated. Thanks Ross, always appreciate your no nonsense lessons.
Shoot'm in the "head box"
