I was at this race, and i have a picture of me on Bobby Labonte's trailer that my father took. It's my second favorite picture i have. My first is of my father and me at the 2002 Daytona 500
This is the very first race as a Stewart fan I saw him win. I became a fan of him at the 2000 Las Vegas race. Watching his entire Cup career and always supporting him I have no regrets about. Thanks for the post.
Steve Byrnes at the Monster!! I was sitting on the backstretch for this one. (Pre-casino days) Thank you for posting these races, GREAT to relive um. 👍👍
The Cale Yarborough back-up car story they were referring to was his 1983 Daytona 500 win. He crashed in spectacular fashion going for the Pole in a Chevrolet, so they took a show car which was a Pontiac. They equipped the show car with the essentials and pulled off a slingshot move on the final lap on Buddy Baker to win it.
Matthew Kowal Even more impressive is the fact that it was a two year old LeMans that had been shelved back in 1981 because the model was deemed uncompetitive after NASCAR forced them to get rid of the bubble window.
After the race, AJ Foyt Enterprises stood 43rd in owner points, 303 points out of 35th (#93 Bill Davis Racing). After Altanta, the #14 team had climbed up to 35th, 122 points clear of Brett Bodine Racing. This would be the best owner points finish for AJ Foyt's Winston Cup team. I have to wonder what Rick Mast could've done if he'd stayed for 2001.

Nice reminder of Matt Kenseth's heavy Wisconsin accent.
I was at this race, sitting in turn 2. Thanks for the memories.
I was at my high school graduation during this race. I'm just now getting around to watching it :P

goodyear tires were inferior compared to hoosier but dirty tactics got hoosier to retire from nascar
These long flag to flag races were special. I really cant stand these stage races.
Why I’m hearing the c’mon man theme from ESPN nfl prime time in the beginning on this show
