As a massive Durian enjoyer, Subaru's description of the fruit is on the more pleasant side to hear. It absolutely is the type of food that you can only like if you grew up eating them.
I love the fact that all my fellow Durian enjoyers pop out to comment on the video. Also, not only the smell of the room stinks, but your breath and fart would do too.

But, when they attached with durian, even for once. They will love it forever 😂😂😂 because who can accept the smell will rewarded with silky teksture & sweet taste of durian
Myself prefer soft ( below/less silky) & sweet than bitter ( some durian get bitter because they fermented/get alcoholic when ripened for too long. But it can also occurs depend the durian species). Because I get dizzy when eat the bitter one 😂😂

i have both sides when it comes to eating durian
-silky smooth sweet and a bit on the too ripe side if it's has little amount of meat
-sweet a bit bitter and kinda crunchy on the side if it has big amount of meat
in conclusion, both great on it's own way

I prefer the creamy sweet types (udang merah) while my parents like the sweet ones with a bitter aftertaste (D24) etc. You can hear boars scavenging these treasures at evening in the estates, if you're not alert when they fall. The pungent smell drives them wild.

Durian is already not in its best conditions after shipping, it start to get mushy after defrosted...

The thing about durian is it has a lot different kind of breed, and it absolutely gives different experiences. That's why i am always kinda upset seeing people challenge themselves to eat durian for first time but durian they eat either hard solid, mushy, or white-colored (White-colored durian tend to taste bland). Good looking durian is firm looking, not so solid but not so mushy either, and the color is either yellow gold, a bit red, or fainted yellow.
But in same time i also kinda understand them as well, since getting a good durian ain't easy even for locals..

Durian's taste is like an ice cream spiked with liquor, its sweet, creamy, and depending on the type, has a sharp bitter taste that stings but doesnt linger

As a South East Asian, I can vouch that the reason Durian has an out-of-this-world smell and taste is that it originated from a tree that sprouted out of a fallen meteorite from ages ago, similar to Vibranium in the Marvel universe.

I only eat durian that’s been out of its husk for a while the stench goes away and the taste isn’t as bad the freshly opened one. Frozen durian is what I prefer also since that’s how I grew up eating it when my grandparents fed it to me.

She is right when she said it tastes like a sweet green onion. I was eating at a banquet and my sister put some raw onions in my bowl that I later use to eat vanilla ice cream. Coincidentally i added the baked santan topping and when I mixed them up together and tasted it, it taste exactly like a durian. Found out about the onions after i started chewing.

You could say this is a reasonable difference, because every country eats different food, so the taste of the mouth and smell when eating/smelling something fruit/food has a certain difference in taste.
That why Most southeast asia loves durian.

I make milkshake out of durians that are abit old but still taste alright. Their texture is off but they still taste like durian.
So durian flesh + milk + abit of ice + vanilla icecream, blitz… bliss..
