  • This presentation is all about identity. Did you know that there are 60,000 different species of tree in the world? What lessons are there for us contained in this incredible variety? Is there such a thing as an “average” tree? Or an “average” person? This presentation will definitely have you thinking in a new and encouraging way!

Thank you for sharing this! I truly like this series. I m from Hong Kong Bay View church. Hope one day you could preach in our church.
Can’t believe that I can catch up with your speaking speed now. 1 year and a half ago I started to watch your sermon with my tremendous family (we are from China, the states, HK). Because of pandemic, we could only stay at home and had home church. That was when we started to watch sermons on RUclips. And we started watching your sermons. At the beginning we always had to stop quite a lot of times in a sermon to discuss what you were saying. My US pastor would explain to me. And because of pandemic, we had many of our sabbath days like this together. And also we build a deep relationship with each other in this family. And I walked closer closer with God. I was baptized last year on July. And now almost a year.
Until now we still like watching you or Ty Gibson’s sermon. But surprisingly we all found that we don’t need to pause that many times in a sermon any more. Thank you for sharing so many great sermons. Thank our Lord for having us together in one family.

Either I've gotten used to his speaking speed or he's slowed down over the years. Some of his very early presentations were very quick.

Good thoughts. I am enjoying this series! One caveat I see. If we define our individuality, it will inevitability lead to sin. Each temptation of Christ revolved around "who He would let define Him?" Would Jesus accept God the Father' definition of Him or would He forged a personality based to the challenges of Satan and society. Individuality apart from Christ can become dangerously self-centered. If our church ignores people's uniqueness, that, too, impedes the work of God. We must learn how to blend with each other in grace, truth, and unity.

Amen! There is humility in the roots growing downward. As Jesus humbled himself amd served humanity. The roots do not see the beauty of the tree above it or it's fruit.

    My thoughts 💭…….
The Lord is not a respecter of persons like we are. Social media is basically all about competition: who you’re going to answer, what question you choose to respond to; judging if that person is saying the right thing that you wanna hear or not: or not answering your questions if it’s not what they think is brilliant enough, or whatever. We’re not supposed to compare ourselves with people, but people, Psychologically, are being manipulated and swayed through social media (it’s a proven fact). Social media, religious leaders, and those educated through a college university, or even people playing a board game (as you wanted to win, or not play), making people feel inferior or superior is what life is all about as fallen people. Only until a person latches on to “The Amazing Infinite Father in heaven, and His dear beloved Son, our Saviour. Amen.
So you went through all that thing about the trees (very nice by the way) just to get to the point that God loves us? We don’t need to feel we are unique, we are not to base our life on feelings.
We are supposed to recognize ourselves as fallen sinners in need of our Savior (i’m not in competition here, I’m just saying). we are to base our worth on what Jesus says in His word. Jesus tells us He is LOVE, it’s a no-brainer- it’s all over in the Bible❣️ we know God loves us❣️
it’s people that concern me. Those who profess to be God’s leading people are to walk the talk.
So where are they hiding 🤷‍♀️?
(I suspect that this comment will get nothing but silence because just me saying these things get people thinking, “oh, she’s trying to mess with my brain, I’m not gonna answer that it’s an argumentative statement (SDA are notorious for silence Unless they’re on a stage or behind a podium, Not always preaching the gospel as Ellen White says should be preached from the pulpit: only the gospel) I’m not gonna respond to that because I don’t have to or, whatever they’re thinking, God only knows, and them themselves)
It seems like people on RUclips wanna see a thumbs up; words of thank you that was wonderful; you’re wonderful; you’re fantastic; what an awesome speaker; oh you opened up my eyes, you did this for me, thank you so much, praise, praise, praise.
I get tired of the silence when I’m trying to communicate with all the plain people (like myself) on social media and they just completely ignore that I said anything. it’s the same way at churches you go to: churches and there little clicks. they don’t reach out to people. I sit alone every Sabbath even though I’m a newcomer, they don’t reach out to me. Seventh-day Adventist are not doing their job on a one on one personal contact basis.
I started volunteering (with potential hire) at the senior center where Sunday keepers go, they have quoted more scripture and have been so much more kind to me than any place I’ve been. concerning seventh day Adventist: The pastor didn’t even introduced himself to me although he knew I was new, but he had his parents with him, so they were his major focus.
If it’s happening to me it’s happening to many other people. Those other people may just not be sticking up and standing up to their feelings, or their common sense, because they feel inferior to them, or whatever. So I am standing up for all the little people out there! I am (and so are they) individuals with thoughts and feelings that are intelligent in the eyes of The Lord Jesus, just like any other person that is forced to be a bench warmer in their own congregation.
So the question is now, Are you going to hear my cry, or are you just gonna judge me and ignore me? Maybe the response would be more of the same condescending and patronizing words, maybe that’s all they have 🤷‍♀️
In that case I would rather have the silence: But how will I know unless they speak?

Mary. I have never posted a comment on youtube. i want you to know that i have been a seventh day adventist since childhood and have lived all over the united states. i want to affirm you in your experience. you are not crazy. By and large this is a common experience. I am sorry that you are experiencing this. As Christians we should be the best at welcoming. i have found my fellow adventist to be woefully inadequate at making their churches feel welcoming to the newcomer. be assured there are members who are aware of this and trying to change because Jesus would have it be so. Be Blessed and thank you fir your comment

I am sorry for the pain that you have experienced inside the church sis.
I resonate with a lot that you have shared. I have been on both sides of the fence as someone who has been relational hurt by the church, but I have also been someone that has hurt others. I am grateful that in Jesus we can find healing in our new creation experience. May God continue to give us the courage, strength and wisdom to love authentically as He leads into relationship with others, and by the grace of God, we may be the change in our churches.
“Put on…compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” Colossians 3:12-14
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Mary!
