I've bought the Sony fs7 in the end but still haven't bought the lenses. I'm contemplating between the sigma you recommended or the rokinon 35mm but also recently saw a cheap sirus 35mm anamorphic lense although I'm not sure how this lense would work with the fs7 or if I need external software. Yours is some of the most cinematic/movie like footage I've seen on this camera but I'm confused because I see everyone saying to use log3 cine el but some footage like yours looks super great and cinematic but other videos on RUclips that are using those settings don't look at all like film/movie even though they filmed with the same camera. What is the main factor? Do you crop from 16:9 in post to a wide rate? Don't mean to ask you to reveal your secrets of course but I'm just trying to get a movie/film look from the Sony sf7 and not sure where to start... Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much for your reply (sorry if sent twice)! Please could I ask just one more question ? There's two cameras for sale one has the malfunction on the Nd filter as mentioned and has 800 hours the other one has the Loupe/eyepiece that's not working at all and has 2000 Hours. Both same camera similar prices. Around 80 dollars difference. Which one would you recommend? Really appreciate your works look amazing
@@AdioAsh just to update you I managed to get one with working Ds filters and around 1000 hours. One missing thing is the Loupe or eyepiece do you know if there's a cheap alternative to this? I've found an LCD magnifier but not sure if it will fit on this camera... Also it doesn't have the extension unit... What are the disadvantages?
Hi just came across your pxw Sony fs7 short film. You seem like an expert wanted to ask you im considering buying this camera second hand but they told me the nd filter unit or button is damaged so i can't change the filters do you think i should still get it ? The price is low. Can i work around this issue? Also does the camera record without lenses? If not what would be the cheapest lenses to get a film look out of it? I see you used rockinsons are they really expensive? What's the exact model you used? Any help really appreciate it as im new to filmmaking!
Depending on how cheap the camera is it’s definitely worth it. It’s a great camera and you can get variable nd filters to screw on your lens for like $100. If you don’t have much money for lenses I’d suggest getting a Sony e mount to canon ef adapter. Canon has a lot of cheap lenses options. I’d recommend maybe a sigma 18-35mm 1.8 used on marketplace and a canon 50mm 1.8. If you’re lucky you can get both of those lenses for $400 total from someone selling them if you negotiate. The fs7 is a great camera but lenses are just as important. Camera is a tool but often lenses tell your story. Good luck on your filmmaking journey.
