It's pretty courageous to knowingly end your career by speaking out against trump in the GOP. These people must feel pretty strongly to put their convictions over their own self interest

They didn't end their career. They just shifted to other things in the political sphere. Adam Kinzinger became a commentator for CNN and still serves part time in the Air National Guard after leaving the Air Force. When the tides turn again, he can return to Congress.
