I can see no one really reads the books. Most elites want the humans dead. That's why there has been nothing but civil war with the arbiter. Kilo 5s mission Is to drag the war out as long as possible.the only elites that consider humans as allies dont even like them. On the other side of the universe, oni and the unsc are conducting experiments of social living conditions between all the alien races living together. Except jackles... Fuck those crude pirates.
The Arbiters elites and grunts are the most well trained under his wing.
Well, they're called 'Elites' for a reason.
Here's the thing. The Sangheili are being more than trusting and supportive of the UNSC right now. They allowed Spartan operatives to join them on missions that really weren't human business. They've actively avoided stepping into Human territory, and when they were at war with Humanity it was only because of the Prophets practically enslaving them. The Sangheili were also noted as some of the most merciful and honorable opponents that Humanity faced. Grunts were cannon fodder, but still ruthless. They'd do anything to kill someone, including kamikaze attacks. Brutes were unnecessarily brutal, taking sadistic pleasure in drawing out their enemy's suffering. Jackals were known to actively attack any humans, regardless of age, gender, military status, or even whether or not they were armed. Hunters plowed through everything, delivering wanton destruction. Elites were ruthless and efficient, but still followed a strict honor code.
1. Senseless Killing: Elites didn't kill for sport. If someone were to die, it was for a purpose. They took no pleasure in taking a life, and only did so when deemed necessary.
2. Military Tactics: While Elites were known to attack from behind, employ stealth, and otherwise any method of killing a person without a fight, they only utilized these tactics against military targets. It's not like they'd just enter a town with active camo and start stabbing random people.
3. Unarmed Prisoners: The Elites, unlike any others, didn't look for reasons to punish their prisoners. If an unarmed person was heavily injured, they'd kill out of mercy. If someone surrendered, they followed protocol, and couldn't really control what the other races did. If they had a prisoner who was not valuable, they'd even offer them a fair fight if they wanted to escape. Prisoners were often offered energy swords and told they could duel an Elite for their release. They lost of course, and this only happened in situations where the Elites were able to decide the prisoner's fate, but the point stands.
In the end, the Elites were a good military, but when separated from the Covenant have no reason to fight the Humans. ONI meanwhile, is actively trying to piss them off. I would not be surprised if Infinite had a scene where Lord Hood, Halsey, and some ONI operatives are talking strategy, when Chief walks in and says "We need to talk." then Arbiter follows pissed to all hell and says "How do you expect my brothers to trust or assist you when you constantly send hostile forces after us?!" Honestly, I feel like Chief would actually take the Arbiter's side in that argument. The two are practically bros by now. Chief trusts him about as much as he trusted Johnson.

After listening to "Hunt the Truth" , I was kind of expecting Halo 5 to be along those lines. I think it would have been a better game.
i think it would be insanely fun to kill ONI agents maybe they could act like the black ops soldiers from half life where they are extremely nimble and will attack and kill everything, even their fellow marines to get rid of any witnesses.

While I think that ONI is undoubtedly trying to weaken the Sangheilli so to protect humanity and their own rise to the top, I feel like they're risking, as you stated, a rebellion. Maybe this might be a plot line for a future Halo? Probably not, but I still think it would be interesting to see an uprising from the side of the Swords of Sangheillios, even if it is just in book form.
I'll see it in Mass Effect like with Cerbarus. The UNSC will be forced to dissolve the organization because of holding too much political power to be folded back into the Navy. They're be forced to run & hide with the aid of Swords of Shangelios to the UNSC because they don't have have alot of resources to hunt any rouge elements down.
Would make a great game or a book.
Maybe that will be the plot of a future spinoff game

ONI makes me soooo mad sometimes! We finally have peace with the Arbiter's people and ONI continues to spy and betray them. Possibly leading to another war or the loss of an extremely powerful ally. I understand being cautious, but ONI is taking it way too far and risking far too much. (Also the Elites are my favorite faction/race Halo so it gets me even more angry when ONI does shady stuff to them)
Many powerful individuals in ONI & the UEG are still holding grudges because of the Human-Covenant War, It's only been 4 years after. I can see why though.
Think of it like the Cold War
You need to remember, the Elites were the main reason for the destruction of countless colonies during the war. Yeah they may have help humanity during the end of the war, but they are still responsible for the loss of life. If you ask me, it was a good idea for ONI to do all that so the Elites don't cross the line of being to powerful.

Probably no change. Master Chief has had an armour change due to the lore (as far as we know anyway). Examples: his visor is cracked, he will need a sealed helmet in case he has to fight in a vacuum; His newer armour is prone to AI hacking (as has been seen AIs can do in the book Last Light), so he would need to go back to an older variant, one that a large majority of AIs would not be used to the interface of, etc.

Well yeah, but i'm saying overall as in how in halo 3-5 massive change. Of course there will likely be a couple of smaller changes but his entire set of armour is highly unlikely to change.

How are they supposed know that? To them, he's the guy that killed the most humans. If you can't see WHY the Arbiter needs to be ousted from their point of view, you're the other side of the coin when it comes to being willfully blind. ONI kinda remind me of Cerberus from the mass effect series of games they're out to insure they're in charge in the shadows and that no one can oppose them I can only imagine the amount of agents Oni has on the unsc infinite if they decide it's needed for them to do something beyond shady.

Laying the groundwork for contingency plans in the event that humanity finds itself at war again with _all_ of the Elites (not just Covenant Remnants) is a good idea. But actively trying to undermine and harm your ally is _way_ over the line and far, far too risky to justify. The jitters over the Swords of Sangheilios getting too powerful is understandable, because even within their ranks many of the Elites aren’t too fond of humans to say the least, and all it takes is for the Arbiter to lose power and be somehow replaced by someone more anti-human for a full scale war to start again. But in trying to prevent the possibility of a war with the Swords by undermining them and to ensure that humanity will win any potential future wars, ONI may well just start a war instead. If they get caught undermining the Arbiter, the alliance is likely over with a war on its way. And ONI has gotten very close to being caught, if not already.

i think that while the swords of sanghelios-human alliance is definitely uneasy for both sides, but the elites fight with honor and in the lore, it has been recorded that a lot of elites had respect for how the humans found courage even though they were fighting a losing battle and some even suggested that they could have become great allies. and both thel and rtas do show a great deal of sympathy and regret after learning what the prophets wanted to do and what they were hiding, even back in halo 2, it seemed like thel was open to listening to what the monitor had to say before the brutes pulled it away
In my opinion when faced with it’s own helplessness and incapacity to shift the tide of the war, ONI became overzealous and attempted pretty much anything it could to ensure human victory, regardless from the consequences. Thus even though the war had ended ONI now without a purpose maintained it’s anti-elite operations as it was pretty much the only thing they could still kind of do correctly. They where under fire because of their cruel and monstrous methods, as a reaction to their increasingly precarious situation within the UNSC they cut themselves from the outside world and the newfound reality of a post-war period that did not require their services. I have the feeling ONI cut itself from reality as a sort of self-defense mechanism, carrying out the operation they used to carry during the war, shifting from safeguarding the future of humanity to ensuring the dominance of the humans over the elites.

At the time of the assassination attempt that oni was going to carry out, from oni's perspective, thel was a huge military asset to the convenant and he was one of the prophets best man and if they took him out it could be a turning point for the humans. It's not like oni knew that he figured out that he was being tricked by the prophets and he suddenly joined their team til afterwards

Oni is the biggest proof that humanity has not changed much in halo, that there is still shady stuff happening behind closed doors. Although the near extinction humanity avoided somewhat justyfies their actions, you always have to assume that such organisations actiones might not be for the betterment of humanity as a whole, but for personal gain.

ONI at the end of the day has humanities best interests at heart. The sabotaging of the Sangheli and the assassinations of those who still attack the humans are needed to ensure not another war like the Human-Covenant War happens again, I mean if you were in the Halo universe and you were sure as Hell you and everyone you loved would die by genocidal aliens at some point, then have that go away once the war is over, you're reaction would probably be extatic joy and relief but also extreme paranoia. I honestly want the prophets race and homeworld to be completely destroyed, because they were also a manipulative, troublesome species for the Forunners. They're basically the Jews of the Halo Universe.

@@redaug4212 no it wouldn’t since ONI were not good people, they were literally the halo version of Cerberus which were pro humanity to a point of wanting complete and total dominance over the galaxy while using past actions as an excuse to commit genocide, as if they haven’t done enough evil already by ruining thousands of families with stealing their kids and replacing them with clones.
@@gabrieltejada1697 Wiping out ONI means going to war with the UNSC, since they both fall under the same government. And going to war with Earth's government basically means going to war with Humanity. Ergo, Arbiter would be the bad guy.

I can understand ONI's line of thinking since the Covenant War killed over 60% of the human population, so taking defensive steps to ensure it didn't happen again is warranted.

Thel'Vadams success comes from his tactical prowess. The Covenant may had strength in numbers and the superior technology, they lacked tacktical adaptation. Given to their religious dogmatism, they lacked the mental flexability to invent new tactics. The UNSC were able to win battle by tactical superiority. By luring Covenant forces into traps and other similar disadvantagious situations. Thel'Vadam however acted unpredictable. So the UNSC couldnt outmaneuver him.
Thel was a rare gem, for sure and a highly lethal one at that.

Honestly, I think humanity would have still beaten the Covenant even without the Arbiter. The Covenant could not take out Master Chief and he was such a force that I think in the end we would have prevailed. A good reason for this is the Covenant civil war that would have happened regardless of what the Arbiter did...their fall was coming fast.
