God, I loved this song (& Frank generally) as a snotty, specky school kid... I still don't understand why it wasn't a massive hit, it's such a great song...
Too goth for most people, but definitely should’ve been bigger at least with the underground crowd. Him, Chameleons, and Cabaret Voltaire all deserved better.
I just stumbled on FG after watching the great show Succession on HBO. The song used was Collapsing New People. Why have I never heard of this AWESOME electro synth band before?!?
Certainly some similarities in the drum sound - the winning TR-808+Arp2600+Simmons SDS V combination, if I'm not mistaken ? Sounds great and a superb track, this.
he was the best ,great lyrics ,seen him in glasgow live was v good ,saturday night special my fav song, but under the flag smashin album ,its on me wall, god bless fad!
Under the flag was about the Falklands war. For all of you signing up: "the contract states quite fundamentally: the undersigned (that's you) lay your life on the line."
I remember my may mate from school Patrice used to listen to Tovey...he was a pioneer...and really arty...which I kinda like...now in a dewwy eyed retrospective way...
Love the dark voice. Better than sinatra and friends This is music of the early 80 . Get the terrific feeling again anis still futher than anybody can get.Forget the rest and rip Frank.
Human League meets Depeche Mode meets early Ultravox. I know nothing about this band so I'm not gonna say anything derogatory, but when was this out? I'm guessing 84?

Frank Tovey - is one of the best voices of the world electronic scene
I still fail to understand why he didn't become bigger in the world. or at least the UK.

Strange, for more than 20 years I did not here this song and still some lines were very familiar to me. Thanks for posting it.
Damn. Why couldn't the 1980s lasted longer. Such a great, fun time to be young.
I wish I could have been a teenager in the early 80's vs being a young kid. So much great music!
I was 2 years old. I remember it vividly.

You're right!,the same year,Frank introduced Alison to Vince Clarke and Yazoo was born.
His pose is so avantgarde! :) Thank god for the music being so good. Damn I miss the 80's.
There were times that Frank Tovey bore a striking resemblance to a young Peter Cook... in more ways than one.
1982 it was according to the discography in the official Fad Gadget home page

I can assure you guys, this was a massive hit in the eighties.
To become bigger there was not enough time for him left, I think.
Emotional

I'm not sure why people use the term 'synth-pop'.
This was certainly not pop.
