  • 👉 Learn how to evaluate the limit of a function involving rational expressions. The limit of a function as the input variable of the function tends to a number/value is the number/value which the function approaches at that time.
    The limit of a function is usually evaluated by direct substitution of the value which the variable tends to. When the function is a rational expression such that direct substitution leads to zero in the denominator, we find a way to either eliminate the denominator by multiplying both the numerator and the denominator by a common factor or decompose the denominator and the numerator into constituent parts so that like terms can cancel out.

    Thanks for the vid! What if the function's limit evaluates to a number instead of infinity? Do you have to test out multiple x-values to find what number it is approaching? And how can we tell its not going to be infinity?

    question, what if the problem wants you to find the right hand limit of a problem that ends up being 0/0, and not a nonzero/0. Can you still answer infinity or negative infinity, or do you simply some how?

    Why is it equal to infinity

    • @davecamp9130
      @davecamp9130 2 года назад

      You can calculate smaller and smaller differences as you get closer to 2 (take 1.99999999999999999 or 2.00000000000001 for example, and then even 1.999999999999999999999999999999 or 2.000000000000000000000001 as they as even closer to 2, and you can take an infinite number of 9 and 0 respectively if you wanted to without actually being at 2). If you were to do the calculations then the results will be going to + or - infinity as you get closer and closer to 2.

    IDK why you put 1.99 there, you can find out that either the numerator and denominator is positive or negative by putting 2 instead of putting 1.99.

      bc 2 is undefined for the function

    • @zmoney0314

      Muhib Ur Rahman 2 is undefined. you have to choose a really close number approaching from both sides and plug it into the function to double check.
