At first, I thought all the accents were put on for comedic effect. After seeing this video, it seems legit. Yes, the exchange with the pizza shop is funny (and thank goodness she didn't lose her patience), but this video was for fun. I feel the father's exchange and confusion does capture the type of frustration for people who cannot speak the language and require assistance. If the situation were different and he needed to communicate something in an emergency, it wouldn't be funny. I think the most rewarding thing will be to see how these two improve over the next year with both their English and adoption of American culture.

Lesson to all, if in the service business, if a customer has a struggle…offer them options ! That is the correct way to take a order over the phone. I found the order taker rude. She is there to accommodate the customer not the other way around. Not just for non English speaking customers but for handicapped or impaired customers as well. More training is in order here. Kudos for dad keeping his sense of humor. Love this family.
