Your version of keeping it simple nearly eclipses my entire collection of tackle. 😂 Thanks for sharing the tips. Ponds and small lakes is where I’m most likely to fish.
I was on the other end of the spectrum feeling attacked when they showed the backpack😅 my excuse, bigger baits, that catch bigger fish, take up more room. Plus I've taken my bag that I filled fishing mixtures of Louisiana fresh water, all over the country with me when I go out of town for work. You'd be surprised how universal bass tackle is
When I go on the canoe or bank fishing I bring a briefcase (it use to be my gopro hard case box) and I have two boxes in there with probably 2-3 of each lure with varying colors. So 2-3 spinnerbaits, 2-3 frogs, jigs, squarebills etc. A couple bags of stick baits and creature baits. Its plenty enough for a whole days worth of fishing depending on where I go. Makes it super simple and convenient to carry or move around. I have a backpack but that's full of tackle for bass fishing out of the actual boat.
I have a backpack that I carry everywhere with everything possible in it. For me it’s easier to carry it on my back and keep my hands available whereas with a bag u have to carry it around. I also like to find spots on the fly and I’m always more comfortable knowing that I have everything I could ever need in my backpack should an opportunity present itself
you’d be surprised, I fish ponds a lot and it depends on season/time of day/weather, I rotate through spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, chatterbaits, lipless crankbaits, frogs, senkos, and spoons
Tyler, I have learned a ton from your videos. I am new to bass fishing and can’t tell you how much I appreciate your content and how helpful you are. I greatly appreciate you dude. Grace and Peace.
Ya know. I have a top 5 favorite RUclips fishing channels. And I gotta say. You’ve recently moved up into my top 5! Your channel is just so different from the rest. Sure, you’re teaching and showing things that almost all channels will. But the way you do it is so much more educational! It’s like watching a much younger Bill Dance or Roland Martin!! As someone else said in the comments. You really do have a fantastic “show host” personality. All while covering all of the small details that are usually overlooked or just completely ignored by other channels! Keep it up brother. This channel is going to blow way, way up! 🤙🏼🤙🏼
It's amazing how much crap you pick up for your tackle box over time, new colours, shapes there's always something new then of course you always need spares incase you loose stuff, those 5$ lures turn into a couple hundred real fast
you have such a good "fishing show host" thing going on here. Earned a sub after watching a few of your videos where you teach how to rig up things and how to fish different lures. Keep it up!
Gives me a better understanding that I like buying lots of lures that I don't need.😄 I like the simple arsenal of baits that your using. I will rearrange my bag and not stuff it with duplicates. Love the videos, so keep it coming with pond instructions of what you see in the pond and what lures you would use.
I bring a fishing backpack when I bank, kayak and boat fish. I have four 3600 tackle boxes and a few soft plastic packs. I fish everything. I have everything in it that I’m learning on. It might look bulky but it’s portable enough to bring with and use all day long.
My favorite pond lures are the senko or the fluke. I also like the speed worm because bass dont see it very often. Especially topwater weightless. I love fishing a speed worm in grass.
I am that guy with the backpack😂😂😂 ive got so many soft plastics and other lures in my bag that it could be labeled as an addiction. That’s just me though. I feel under-prepared if I don’t bring my good stuff. But I do leave a good portion of other random lures and plastics at the house. I will definitely be throwing a bag of flukes in my bag though. Haven’t used them at all honestly. I seem to always overlook them. Thanks for the tips🤝👍
Yessir. Great video. Agree 100 percent with over preparing. I definitely would overload my back pack and wouldn’t even touch a ton of it. Iv slimed down tremendously and it’s helped a lot. Awesome video bro. Always pumped when your notifications come threw.
One of my favorite pond fishing lures is a Rooster Tail spinner. 1/6 ounce and 1/4 ounce in white, chartreuse or rainbow seem to always bring something in.
What type of hooks and weights do you bring ? I’m new to finishing I’ve watched some of your videos. You give very good helpful information! Great job!
I was one of those that carried around a whole backpack, full of anything and everything I could squeeze into it. You realize pretty quick that's unnecessary. Now if I'm doing bank fishing, I have a MOLLE messenger bag that I carry with me, smaller than the bag you showed, with just a couple small Plano type boxes in it, a few bags of soft plastics, and a some necessary tools attached to the outside.
I agree on keeping it simple, but I prefer the backpack tackle box because I can walk and have my hands free for fishing. I don't have to drop my tackle somewhere and either move it with me or walk back to it.
Same reason why i use a belt bag. I like how the smaller size prevents me from bringing more stuff that i dont really need. You can also access it without having to put it down on the ground like you would with a backpack.
That was honestly a lot more tackle than I was expecting lol. When you said ONLY, I assumed you were gonna have 2-3 soft plastics and a like 1/3 of the lures.
I mean, I COULD simplify it even further like you said. That wasn’t the point of this video though. It was to cover every type of pond and what you’d possibly need. Not what you just need to get by
I'm a new bass angler, and I've only over caught bluegill and sunfish from lures because I was taught that a bass won't bite something half it's size. The I caught a 3/4 pound bass with a 6 in senko
13:39 jerkbaits also work really well on the summer time when you are trying to get a reaction strike. Basically just burn that thing really fast when it's hot outside, it works
So glad to see your take on bank fishing. I've been waiting for you to do what's in my bag bank fishing video. I know it's going to be well though out.
Love keeping it simple. You’re the first one to mention that most of the plastics work for ponds. I thought maybe I was a bad fisherman because it’s hard to catch bass on jigs and cranks in my shallow grassy ponds. I love plastics
Thank you for this video Tyler. I know as a pond fisherman that I am on the right track with my tackle. I do carry a backpack though as it is easier to carry it around, but that is my preference. It’s is not filled to the brim though so no chance of wondering about other items that may or may not work.
Not every kid packs up a whole specific bag when they go pond fishing. It’s way easier just to have a fishing bag with everything you have that you just take anywhere.
Hey Tyler! I was wondering if you had any videos on/and or tips for like what scenarios to fish each of these baits, like when to use each. Like when will you want to fish soft plastics on the bottom vs swim baits vs crank baits etc, I know it all has to do with weather, time of year, and lots of other factors but I don’t even know where to start learning all that. Thanks!
I’ve got tons of videos about all these topics. If you ever wonder if I’ve made a video about a topic, just search on RUclips: “TylersReelFishing (insert topic)”
My entire pond arsenal. 1. Black trick worm or green pumpkin if I know it’s super clear. 2. Some kind of spitting popper. Just because topwater is the most fun way to catch them. 3. Done😬😂😂
For me I carry around a 3700 size tackle box, a 3600 size terminal, and a bass mafia soft plastic bag in a back pack off of Amazon . I also bring this on a jon boat too.
I'm a pond fishing person all the time I dont have a boat I use yums strike king rage craws zoom super flukes zman chatter baits and ned rigs and football jigs I use mainly
Great video this helps because I brought entirely to much last year. This year I’ve down sized quite a bit now I’m going to downsize more after seeing this. Just not sure if this is sponsored by ridge wallets or strike king lure co. 😂
Most ponds around me here in FL are shallow and grassy with fountains. Any advantages to fishing under/around the fountain itself? Night/morning/ mid day? Would love some tips or advice on this. Thanks!
It definitely stirs up the water, which is great for the ecosystem, so it makes sense that fish would all congregate there. I just haven’t caught many on them as I’ve traveled around the country
I just got into fishing, and get a lot of bites but most of the time I can’t get fish on. I fish a pond with Bass, carp, blue hill and many other fish. I mostly use soft plastics. What am I doing wrong?
keep the back pack cuz like you said some don’t have a boat and also don’t want/ can carry a million things so we just keep it all in one, ready for what ever when ever
This is a lil late to comment but like, most people i know wouldnt consider bring a backpack with 3 or 4 small tackle boxes in it "bringing way too much"...if all you need to fish multiple different situations and depths can fit in one backpack you might as well just throw that bad boy on and not have to worry too much about rearranging it or taking stuff out or putting anything in. Anything you might need is right on your back and its not like its heavy
What is one lure that is versatile and catches lots of smallmouth bass (not necccesarily huge ones) and is good for begginners? This question is for Tyler but anyone who was info can pitch in.
Depending on where you are smallmouth will eat different things but a general good one is a googan baits slim shake rigged like a wacky worm with no weight
I talk about that in my rigging video back a few weeks ago! And in all my videos about soft plastics. I guess I could make a video on what weights you need for what soft plastics though
I live on the east coast in South Carolina were there are herring lakes what summer baits would you throw there’s lots of deep brush piles and it’s very clear
Thanks to Ridge Wallet for making this video possible! Head on over to www.ridge.com/TRF and use Code “TRF” for 10% off your order!👍🏼
The ridge is amazing! Never going back to regular wallet again. 👍🏼
TylersReelFishing Where are you? Haven’t heard in a week. All okay buddy?
More info about pond crainkbaits and more info about swim jigs and Texas rig worms or something like that
Video suggestion: "How to efficiently build a tackle collection over time"
Hmm I like that!
Excellent suggestion!
great idea dude
Hah. Step 1 for me, stop getting snagged and losing stuff.
Buy a lot
Your version of keeping it simple nearly eclipses my entire collection of tackle. 😂 Thanks for sharing the tips. Ponds and small lakes is where I’m most likely to fish.

“Hiking a mile into the woods, to an absolute juice hole” Best phrase in this video!!! Lol

I love how he keeps repeating "I keep it simple" and he has like 5 times what I carry lol
exactly.lol i fit everything i need in my pocked
Well good! Hope you were still able to learn somethin 👍🏼
Me pullin up with one pack of senkos
me pullin up with the string on a bamboo
Ha, he carries much more to a pond targeting 1 or 2 species than I carry to the ocean targeting five! Still, very well done educational videos.
Same
That's a lot of tackle for pond fishing. If I were to pond fish, I'm bringing stick baits and more stick baits.
Basically lol
Fong Xiong I’m bringing a lizard and a squarebill
If I only had to pick two
you’d be surprised, I fish ponds a lot and it depends on season/time of day/weather, I rotate through spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, chatterbaits, lipless crankbaits, frogs, senkos, and spoons
Tyler, I have learned a ton from your videos. I am new to bass fishing and can’t tell you how much I appreciate your content and how helpful you are. I greatly appreciate you dude. Grace and Peace.
Thank you young sir for teaching an old man like me to catch more fish on my two farm ponds! SUBSCRIBED.
Thanks for the sub!

Man, thank you so much! Those words mean a ton to me! I’m so glad to have made that list for ya👍🏼
TylersReelFishing just keep pumping out the solid content brother! We’ll all be here, and then some!
Agreed!
It's amazing how much crap you pick up for your tackle box over time, new colours, shapes there's always something new then of course you always need spares incase you loose stuff, those 5$ lures turn into a couple hundred real fast
It really is crazy man
Then into a few thousand. Then when you get a boat and truck it hits tens of thousands.
So true buddy. I once herd someone say they make most lures to catch fisherman not fish. Lol
you have such a good "fishing show host" thing going on here. Earned a sub after watching a few of your videos where you teach how to rig up things and how to fish different lures. Keep it up!
Man, that means so much! I appreciate it a lot
Awesome video dude. You definitely pointed me in the right direction when picking lures.
Glad I could help!
Gives me a better understanding that I like buying lots of lures that I don't need.😄
I like the simple arsenal of baits that your using. I will rearrange my bag and not stuff it with duplicates. Love the videos, so keep it coming with pond instructions of what you see in the pond and what lures you would use.
Heck yeah! Got more coming
Great vid! It took me awhile to simplify things at the ponds after fishing in my boat for 13 years. It's definitely a different game!
hey Tyler i have been watching your channel for over a year and love your informational videos you have taught me a lot about bass fishing thank you
Let’s goooo
I bring a fishing backpack when I bank, kayak and boat fish. I have four 3600 tackle boxes and a few soft plastic packs. I fish everything. I have everything in it that I’m learning on. It might look bulky but it’s portable enough to bring with and use all day long.

Of course!

that's definitely me im the backpack guy loooool!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Zman slim swim and the ned rig are great pond baits as well!
I like the pond stuff. I don’t have a boat!
Got more coming 👍🏼
And I also bought a ridge wallet before I knew you lol. They are so awesome
Same
Yessir. Great video. Agree 100 percent with over preparing. I definitely would overload my back pack and wouldn’t even touch a ton of it. Iv slimed down tremendously and it’s helped a lot. Awesome video bro. Always pumped when your notifications come threw.
Super pumped to have you watching! Glad you got them notis on

I prefer the back pack even with just one box just because it’s easier to carry around
Yeah it’s just more convenient when your walking around or hiking through woods. Plus it carries much more stuff
Awesome! I agree travel light. My plan is a few confidence baits to shake the skunk and one or two things I want to try out for the session.
That’s a good path I think!
You make the RUclips world bearable! Another great content!
That means so much!
The best content on youtube hands down it's like I'm watching a tv show💯
Heck yeah! Glad to have ya around the channel!
Always enjoy your videos!
Harrison and Andrew are still trying to teach me.
I've used a ridge wallet the last year and absolutely love it, they are amazing people grab one. Great video man 👊
Heck yeah! Thanks homie
What type of hooks and weights do you bring ? I’m new to finishing I’ve watched some of your videos. You give very good helpful information! Great job!

Dang I feel terrible for not recognizing you that day. Me and my friend were fishing in the background of the video at the end lol.
Darn haha! I feel like I'm pretty obvious with a camera on a tripod haha
Man thank you bro I do allot of pond fishing and I find this video very helpful. Thanks your the best!!!!
Of course! Got more coming
I agree on keeping it simple, but I prefer the backpack tackle box because I can walk and have my hands free for fishing. I don't have to drop my tackle somewhere and either move it with me or walk back to it.

@@sherwinm8509 I just can't wear a fanny pack. I'm not the most fashionable, but I still just can't lol
Tip: Take the worms out of the bags and put them in a tackle box in a backpack. More room in the backpack for other baits and lures.
Great tip
Great video! Gotta love fishing small stacked ponds!
For sure!
That was honestly a lot more tackle than I was expecting lol. When you said ONLY, I assumed you were gonna have 2-3 soft plastics and a like 1/3 of the lures.

Well I’m glad you’re here!
Caught a 6 pound bass on a crankbait
lol you're been taught wrong, bass will bite things literally 2-3x their size.
Bank fishing is so much fun when you know what to throw
Magnum Sinsation by Mister Twister is the best soft plastic for a Texas rig. It’s half brush hog half worm and catches tons of big bass
That sounds cool!
My favorite pond baits, artificial worms, Jitterbug, shallow runners i.e. Rapala's 1'-3', small spinnerbaits/small chatter baits.
13:39 jerkbaits also work really well on the summer time when you are trying to get a reaction strike. Basically just burn that thing really fast when it's hot outside, it works
I start on top; if no luck mid depth; if no action; bottom Texas rig.
So glad to see your take on bank fishing. I've been waiting for you to do what's in my bag bank fishing video. I know it's going to be well though out.
Got plenty more coming!
Love keeping it simple. You’re the first one to mention that most of the plastics work for ponds. I thought maybe I was a bad fisherman because it’s hard to catch bass on jigs and cranks in my shallow grassy ponds. I love plastics

Watched this video last night. Went and fished the fluke today. First cast nailed em. Thanks bud keep up the great content.
I love hearing that!

It’s is not filled to the brim though so no chance of wondering about other items that may or may not work.
This is an OLD video, so I don’t even follow this to a T anymore lol. Gotta make an updated one
@@TylersReelFishing look forward to the updated one. This one is helpful though.

My entire pond arsenal. 1. Black trick worm or green pumpkin if I know it’s super clear. 2. Some kind of spitting popper. Just because topwater is the most fun way to catch them. 3. Done😬😂😂
Haven’t watched yet but I know its epic
Looks like it would cover most of your bases as a co-angler as well
I love Buzzbaits and ploppers in ponds too
If you don’t have slop on the top of the water, they work great!
thank you, ive been having trouble catching fish and this video helped me
I’m so glad!
Great Sponsor! I have been using Ridge’s wallet for year. I love it and will never go back to a “traditional” wallet.
Heck yeah!
Backpack because I am on public transportation so what I got is what is with me; 3 rod combos: 2 baitcasting reels and 1 spinning reel.
Have you ever thought about making a book that covers everything in your videos? I would definitely buy it
For me I carry around a 3700 size tackle box, a 3600 size terminal, and a bass mafia soft plastic bag in a back pack off of Amazon . I also bring this on a jon boat too.
Great idea!
What’s the best salt water spinning rod combo for pier fishing any suggestions? Thank you 🙏
Thanks for the great content! Iv never caught a fish on a jig with a trailer so this helped!im gonna try some !👍👍
Of course! I’ve got some other videos on the channel about jigs and trailers too
U forgot abt the rooster tail. That thing changed my life, man
My PB came out of small neighborhood pond. Just a little over 5lbs LMB!!
Nice!
Congrats!
I love that popper I have the same one
Great video. What would you suggest for ponds that are full of algae? Pretty much the only thing I can use are frogs. What else would you suggest?
You’ll see my recommendations very soon! (New video)
I'm a pond fishing person all the time I dont have a boat I use yums strike king rage craws zoom super flukes zman chatter baits and ned rigs and football jigs I use mainly
Often the ponds are thick with lily pads and spatter dock pads, would really like to see a video or two on those.
I’ll try to find one!
I caught a 2lb bass today on a salty zoom super flukes today I'm so happy
Great video this helps because I brought entirely to much last year. This year I’ve down sized quite a bit now I’m going to downsize more after seeing this. Just not sure if this is sponsored by ridge wallets or strike king lure co. 😂
Can you include, river, creek fishing in your videos also? Great videos!
Got some of that coming this spring!
me and my dad have a collection of worms and we catch nice ones in ponds and you don’t even have to use a texas rig just a worm works
Lol for plastics Tyler out did me lol all I need is caffeine shad sweet beaver and fluke
I just got into fishing, and get a lot of bites but most of the time I can’t get fish on. I fish a pond with Bass, carp, blue hill and many other fish. I mostly use soft plastics. What am I doing wrong?
Smaller hook
What line do u prefer when u are pond fishing and how many rods do u bring
Search “TylersReelFishing pond”. I have discussed those questions in other videos
I listened to your vid and now I’m going to only bring what I need
keep the back pack cuz like you said some don’t have a boat and also don’t want/ can carry a million things so we just keep it all in one, ready for what ever when ever
Correct, I made this video a long time ago
Thank you for the pond content. Great stuff!
Thank you for watching!
Best bait for neighborhood pond. Sand bottom little to no structure pretty clear

I'm a kid who fishes ponds occasionally but i mostly fish lake murray what would be a good soft plastic for bass?
Depending on where you are smallmouth will eat different things but a general good one is a googan baits slim shake rigged like a wacky worm with no weight
Ned rig 100%. Probably the most consistent smallmouth lure out there. They smoke white 2-3" grubs too
Ned rig, Ned rig, Ned rig
john try a 2.8 keitech on a 1/8 oz guppy head. it slays largies, crappie, and i know it will slay smallies
Awesome love your channel I appreciate your content some of those bass were really nice chunkers great job!!!
Perfect line up 👌🏽
Glad you think so!
What is your opinion on fishing with a chatter bait with out a trailer because that’s what I prefer
Not how it was intended. Not as much casting distance
I wish you could have described where you got your jigs and what kind of head jigs because I have been searching for days to find the right one
Search “TylersReelFishing jig”. I’ve made a lot of videos about that topic
Oh man sharing is caring. LOL We want new fishing gear Tyler.
What would be the best lure or bait you have used while pond fishing? Also great vid i learned a lot
ruclips.net/video/fEyt9nrbeU0/видео.html
Sweet dude, these are definitely great ideas! Will try next time I hit up a pond
Heck yeah!
What hooks do you use mainly? What size waits do you prefer if using one?
I talk about that in my rigging video back a few weeks ago! And in all my videos about soft plastics. I guess I could make a video on what weights you need for what soft plastics though
TylersReelFishing That would be great! I'll go check out your previous video. Keep up the great work, love you and your videos!
Great video! What pound braid do you like to use for mainline on your spinning reels?
20lb braid
Good to know I fish ponds alot
Awesome run down on your pond box!! 👊🏻🤘🏼
Thanks big boi
I have a bag with once tackle box and plastics..same thing
they are all essential another great video keep up the vids
Rubber bands help with hook separation.
Sometimes they bring there backpack because that is there tackle bag they dont have a boat to keep other stuff on
I live on the east coast in South Carolina were there are herring lakes what summer baits would you throw there’s lots of deep brush piles and it’s very clear
