I just replied to someone else's comment and thought I'd post the same reply here as well. I truly feel your pain. I backslid for 20 years and endured many agonizing moments. It took a LOT for me to repent and turn away from sin. I am happy to say that I am no longer spiritually starved, no longer backsliding. I decided to read God's word every day whether I felt like it or not. I simply obeyed. This was my turning point. Read a verse or two every single day. Forget about the whining and complaining and feeling guilty that I don't want to do it, and do it anyway. You will be fed regardless of how you feel. Just obey. One verse became two became three and so on. Discovering Charles Stanley this summer was the icing on the cake. I keep reminding myself to make sure I read God's word and ask God to speak to me, and develop my relationship with God. I then listen to Charles Stanley in addition to that, not in place of. Always enjoying Dr. Charles Stanley's sermons. I sometimes feel as if I'm drifting, but I manage to regain my strength and call back on the Lord. It can be very challenging because of all the things that society has to offer. People think that they need these things but not realizing that they only need God in their life.
Dr. Charles does an excellent job of expositing the Gospel to believers and unbelievers as a real Pastor should. Dr. Charles is a genuine man of God, convicted by the Holy Spirit and purpose-filled to make disciples of Yeshua. The crazy thing is that thoughts while you are praying and reading scripture may not be from you. Demons can put thoughts into your mind and disrupt prayer and reading of scripture. I get perverse thoughts and also worldly thoughts while I pray and read scripture. I know it isn't from me. If there are any brothers and sisters who suffer from this, know that the Lord is with you. Stay strong in the Lord. Be as shrewd as a snake and bold as a lion. Once you recognize that it ain't your thoughts there's no need to feel guilty and dirty about it. Trust in the Lord to deliver you.
Let me share a truth with you, we are fighting a spiritual war, we the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of darkness and ruling Spirits of this world. Expect the devil's attacks every now and then, bind these spiritual demonizing entities in Jesus name and expell them from your life and you'll see them melt away. The Bible says that if you "...Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7 (NLT)). The devil has no power over you if you Resist!!! So keep resisting him brother and keep fighting the good fight until we meet in Heaven after the battle is done. Remember Jesus won the war for us, we just need to trust him and Resist the accuser and his demonizing influences that are futile against our resistance. I can not drift too far anymore. Because there were heavy consequences. I believe God loves you and if you drift that puts you in a very dangerous place. He will do whatever it takes which includes painful situations in order to save you from eternal damnation.

It can be very challenging because of all the things that society has to offer. People think that they need these things but not realizing that they only need God in their life.

The crazy thing is that thoughts while you are praying and reading scripture may not be from you. Demons can put thoughts into your mind and disrupt prayer and reading of scripture. I get perverse thoughts and also worldly thoughts while I pray and read scripture. I know it isn't from me. If there are any brothers and sisters who suffer from this, know that the Lord is with you. Stay strong in the Lord. Be as shrewd as a snake and bold as a lion. Once you recognize that it ain't your thoughts there's no need to feel guilty and dirty about it. Trust in the Lord to deliver you.
Let me share a truth with you, we are fighting a spiritual war, we the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of darkness and ruling Spirits of this world.
Expect the devil's attacks every now and then, bind these spiritual demonizing entities in Jesus name and expell them from your life and you'll see them melt away. The Bible says that if you "...Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7 (NLT)).
The devil has no power over you if you Resist!!! So keep resisting him brother and keep fighting the good fight until we meet in Heaven after the battle is done. Remember Jesus won the war for us, we just need to trust him and Resist the accuser and his demonizing influences that are futile against our resistance. God bless and strengthen you in Jesus name, Amen.

Death is our ultimate destiny and in our journey we have 1ultimate direction (Jesus, the way, the truth and the life) and there are only 2 places that await our final destination-Heaven or Hell. As it is written, It is better to go to the house of mourning than to the house of feasting, for it is the end of every man and the living should take it to heart.
It is even furthered, Set your minds on things above not on earthly things.
Lastly, For He who finds Me, finds life, and wins favor from the Lord.
