Sergio is absolutely correct. This is a clear violation. This should never be done by a lay person. The step of washing with soap and water after the purification is fine, but the steps of purification must be accomplished by a priest, deacon, or acolyte after distribution of the Eucharist, or after Mass. Please inform your priest that this has been banned for over a dozen years in the US.

@@TES-bt8sv In accord with the Holy Father’s decision (2006), as reported in Francis Cardinal Arinze’s letter
of 10/12/06, an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion may not assist in the purification of sacred vessels.

@@TES-bt8sv The Roman Missal, General Instruction, "279. The sacred vessels are to be purified by the Priest, the Deacon, or an instituted acolyte after Communion or after Mass, insofar as possible at the credence table." Also in n. 183: "Nevertheless, it is also permitted to leave vessels needing to be purified on a corporal, suitably covered, on the credence table, and to purify them immediately after Mass, following the Dismissal of the people."
