  • I've been looking for a good hand embroidery lap stand for several months, and I FINALLY found one!
    Here is the Amazon listing for this lap stand: tinyurl.com/zpyzza9
    And here is Elbesee's website: www.elbesee.co.uk/
    They make several other models of lap, floor and table stands for all your embroidery preferences. You can't buy from their website, but all their products are available on their Amazon.

    Thank you so much for posting this video! I have been dealing with repetitive strain injury from crotcheting like a mad woman this Christmas. Now that I am cross stitching I am having lots of problems with pain in my left arm. I have ordered this stand and feel so hopeful that I will be able to stitch without pain!!I look forward to seeing more of your tips and tricks. Crystal

    I was researching hoop stands and came across your video. Thanks for the recommendation, the stand is more expensive now, but your link works. Delivery is going to be a bit long because of COVID-19. I'm really looking forward to getting mine.

    Thanks so much! I know its years later but it seems they still offer Two (2) Elbesee Lap Stand Models (slight increase in $). Trouble deciding between the Model with 3 Hoops ATTACHED to the Rod vs. the one you're showing, just a Clamp.
    My main concern is PRESSURE and how many times you have to adjust the Clamp while working? Maybe you can do an actual Demo USING the Clamp Model? Comments on how its been holding up over the years?
    Thank you for any further insights you can offer. I know I both want & need a Lap Stand, I just can't decide which! :)

    I do punch needle and need my fabric drum tight. After wrapping the hoop (which I always do) will the hoop remain still while punching.

      This isn't a tool that's designed to take a lot of punishment, but as long as you tighten the screws enough and don't slam your punch needle in and out of the fabric, it should hold. There's also a sweet spot with any screw-based clamp - undertightening won't hold, and overtightening will ruin the screw. I wouldn't recommend using this to hold your punch needle on denim or canvas, but cotton calico or lighter would be fine.

    How did you attach the bias tape onto your hoop? Did you glue the end of it down?

    • @mayamorphine
      @mayamorphine  5 лет назад +1

      Yes! I used tacky glue to glue one end down, and wrapped it around the hoop, placing a dot of glue about every half inch of wrapping to keep the bias tape from unwinding or shifting later down the line.

    So after using this for the past few months would you still recommend it? Looking at different hoop stand options and leaning towards this one.

      @mayamorphine  7 лет назад +2

      I definitely would! Your comment reminded me of this video - now I'm thinking about doing an updated review, because my needs as an embroiderer have changed, so I'm looking at other stand options :)

      @@mayamorphine Thank you for your video review, I am looking into a stand option. What other stands are you looking at?

    Looks like you can rotate the frame to see underneath

    • @mayamorphine
      @mayamorphine  8 лет назад +1

      Oh yes, you can! I flip my hoop up so I can see the underneath whenever I need to tie off a thread.

      The Crewel Gobelin in NSW stocks them. www.thecrewelgobelin.com.au/c/4542041/1/elbesee-wooden-seat-table-frames.html

    Question:what's that plastic nut for? Mines came with one Thank you

    • @mayamorphine
      @mayamorphine  5 лет назад +1

      Theres a couple of plastic nuts on this. The one seated into the base is where you screw the stationary arm. The second screw screws in that arm to hold the height-adjustable clip

    loosen the lower wing nut to look at the back ,,, so you don't need to take it off and then put it back on again!!

    • @mayamorphine

      I prefer to hold the hoop when I'm looking at the back.

    Don't put a magnet anywhere near a computer or on top of a tv as it will mess it up, you will have to pay to get it degaussed

    • @mayamorphine
      @mayamorphine  5 лет назад

      Thanks, but the pincushion is metal, the magnet is inside the computer - it's the clasp that holds my laptop closed. My computer also isn't solid-state memory, so I don't have to panic as much about magnets
