Tip for getting heads off that are stuck with tape. Use a heat gun or run it under a hot faucet to heat up the adhesive. Works like a charm. Also, put the stick between your thighs and pull will always be the best method for pulling the head off.

I use a piece of thin semi-rigid clear plastic (polyethylene - the same material that you would find a pint of strawberries packaged in clamshell containers... also available for every vacuum sealed product out there). Wrap a rectangular piece completely around the shaft (about 1.5" x 3"), mark the overlap with a sharpie and trim it to meet the proper circumference. Slide the head on with the shim in place them use the sharpie again to mark the plastic at the bottom of the head. Take the head off and trim the plastic a final time for the bottom border. This works like a charm and avoids all the issues of the head getting stuck because of tape adhesive when using tape as the shim. I've done this a half dozen times over the years for the various shafts my son has worked through. Super happy with this method. One word of caution - cut the shim short enough to ensure there is no lip sticking out from bottom of head. Thin stiff plastic like that can be sharp. Good luck.

One of my favorite tips is for but ends. You tape a normal rubber end cap with electrical tape so you can't pull it off than make a donut. The end caps reinforces the donut. And you just put on tape normally
