lol.. Marcus is soooo sooo crazy dude... look at the dude up there having so much fun! The love affair between his bass and him is so sexy and romantic! I don't particular like that style of bass... but Marcus just made me a believer.
Are you kidding me John Created Technique. Wached The John Entwistle band "Shakin All Over" pick the one with the man wearing the zebra jacket. Then skip to 2:22
mm,ok yu don't know what the word "music"means.. but I respect you: you like justin bieber; i ike miles davis, john coltrane, thelonious monk, wether report, frank zappa, sly and the family stone, parliament, jimi hendrix, jaco pastorius, bach, vagner and many others..
But you don't know how to add spaces in the message so why does your opinion matter elitist bitch. before judging on other people's choices in music also realize that your choices can be just as judged
I just find him to be an over rated One trick pony, Stanley Clarke and Mark King are as well much more talented and are much more deserving of the fame Marcus miller
@strongbase1 what about bassists like jaco pastorius, stanley clarke, victor wooten, john entwistle, guy pratt, les claypool, mark king, geddy lee, tony franklin.. they are way better than cliff burton.. all these bassist can paly every type of music, from rock n' roll to funk to jazz,i think that ciff burton could only play rock.. and metal music
Its true,no offense to Burton and all he did his thing, but hes simply not even close to being as objectively good in terms of technique/musicianship etc as the legends you just listed Marcello! and thats a fact.
But you have to admit John Entwistle Really created modern bass guitar. and that he is a superior bassist to Marcus miller. John Was Voted by bass players as The Bass player of the millenium. That tells you somthing
No No Knowone really has to admit that lol,Now music is subjective,to some extent, but then theres technical skill/musicality etc I dont think theres any question or that mr Entwiostle God rest his soul himself would have even argued or claimed he was"better"musically/technically speaking then a guy like Miller,or heck Clarke or Wooten for that matter, make no mistake Entiwistle is an objectively great legendary musician/bass player himself, but hes not on this level, doesnt mean he isnt elite though and not wortthy of being on the all time list, but I wouldnt call Rolling stone exactly an authority on objective great properly ranked bass players...or guitar players I mean these are the same guys who had Kurt Kobain only like 7 spots beneath Paul Gilbert on there top 100 all time guitar list lol so,they have some bias its not entirely based on pure objective skill/technique/musicianship like it should be,and the fact is jazz/jazz fusion simply requires more mastery and technique then even the best classical rock, and im in no way diminishing it but thats just how it is comparatively.
To use a boxing analogy someone like Miller here is like a Bernard Hopkins of bass,Clarke would be a sugar ray Robinson of bass, and a guy like Entwhistle would be more along the lines of an Oscar Delahoya/Felix Trinidad-great and legenadry no doubt, but still beneath the other/others on the scale.
And he didnt "create"modern bass guitar, but I will concede and admit he took Electric bass in his musical category'classical rock/experimental advanced rock etc-to the absolute next level though and id say hes for sure ahead of guys such as Jack Bruce and Jon Paul Jones and Butler and etc etc,100 percent, maybe on the geddy lee level but possibly a bit beneath him as well, again its obviously subjective/individual personal preference of course"but i think it can go beyond that to the realm of rating them on pure as objective as possible technique/skill/musicianship.......for example I may like Les Claypool more then Stanley Clarke even-but doesnt mean hes better and again he himself would agree on that account, but still doesnt mean Claypool himself isnt very very high on that atg list of bass players himself, just saying theres levels and as greast/legendagy/inspiring/and of course elitely skilled as Entwhistle was,hes just not on a Clarke/Wooten/Miller etc level.
