Mario vs. Donkey Kong was a spiritual successor to Donkey Kong 1994, for the Game Boy and Super Game Boy, that game was the expanded version of the original Donkey Kong arcade game. Similar premise, different story.
I wonder what will be the next 99 player royal after F-Zero. Maybe Star Fox 99, Metroid 99, possibly even Pokemon RBY 99. As for the Nintendo Museum, maybe there will be virtual tours on the Switch.
The timing of these Directs is always a bit of a nightmare. As a Brit, I'm lucky that it's usually 3PM... but these Directs usually only have a single day's warning and so often land on a day I'm a work. Great that you were able to watch and react to it on the day. 0:44 - You recognised the robot as Pearl straight away!? What the heck; that's impressive! There's certainly traits on the robot that seem Pearl like, so now I can see how one could expect that... perhaps I was too distracted how Nintendo seemed to emphasise some... "features" of Agent Eight here. 4:18 - Really feels like they should have used a different character or made this series it's own IP. It's sad seeing platforming star Mario unable to make such a simple jump. 5:27 - The original Prince of Persia was released on the Apple II as a Cinematic Platformer (think Another World or Flashback). 7:11 - Konami's presence with multiple games was quite a shock. Heck, Super Crazy Rhythm Castle is a new IP (surprising since I'm pretty sure they have a couple rhythm series and characters they could have used). 9:48 - I'm thrilled to see someone else have the same delightful scream as I did when I saw Ashley Robbins. I can't believe we're getting a revival of Another Code! I'd never have even thought to place it on my bingo card. This is tied as my number 1 favourite reveal of the Nintendo Direct. 10:53 - As a Brit, I'm lucky to own the sequel, but still an absolute delight they remade both games and now US gamers can experience it. 13:18 - I'm disappointed about the lack of Perry and Toadsworth, but a Princess Peach beat em up with adorable detective costume is certainly nice. 16:10 - I think the unreliability of memories would result in folks not know if they made Lara Croft's boobs bigger. Happy to see Lara Croft face off against dinosaurs again. 21:46 - Was that the text box that clued you in that it was a Vanillaware game? As expected, it looks lovely, but the gameplay seems more tactical RPG, which I'm terrible at. I was hoping it was a port or remake of Grand Knights History but nope, new game here (and Atlus made, so PAL territory people will be lucky to receive it in any form). 24:17 - Never played the Arcade machine (arcades are not exactly a thing in my area) but a real missed opportunity they never ported it to Wii U or Switch. 26:47 - Well, aside from Female Robin, Leaf, Male Wii Fit Trainer, etc. Strange how they included some of the gender alts for the character but not for others. 27:22 - That slow, quiet what was brilliant. The thing is, this is the most love F-Zero fans have been given in almost two decades. An admittedly, it does look pretty fun. 31:39 - Looks to be quite a direct successor to Smooth Moves on the Wii. Always happy to see WarioWare's amazing cast of characters pop up. I'm having a real hard time deciding between this or Super Mario Bros Wonders. 35:39 - Yeah, Dave the Diver looks quite charming. It seems to have some two differing but narratively well weaved bits of gameplay and a good bit of humour to it. 39:90 - The scream for Paper Mario also did not disappoint! As one of my top 10 favourite games of all, I'm naturally ecstatic for this Thousand Year Door remaster/remake. 42:18 - Peach, the Princess of Rizz. Oh gosh, how worryingly accurate. 43:11 - I never understood the complaints about Super Princess Peach. It was a really fun game and demonstrated that Peach was both in touch with her emotions and had incredible control and balance of them... unlike everyone else who was effected by the Vibe Wand.
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars Remake will include the superboss Culex/Crystaller from the original game, plus there may be some big surprise coming as well.
So excited for Another Code c:

Eiyuden Chronicle is a spiritual successor to Konami and Hudson Soft's Suikoden.
