1:44:14 I LOVE LOVE how DMs can use Truesight to see so much into other characters and the world itself. Really makes you realize how creatures who have it innately must see the world in such facinating ways. Also the entire sequence of what he sees in the forest and what is woven? Amazing.
I... LOVE. Episodes like this. Episodes that delve DEEP into lore. That give the world--and the stakes--proper scope. That make shout-outs to Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein, and many, many other worlds. And Mark pulls it off so well! Props to Critical Role, but my DnD home will always be with High Rollers. SO excited for next episode.
Finally caught up to you guys! Took the dash action on all of my 131 turns to get here! I probably died from levels of exhaustion 70 episodes ago...still here in spirit...
Your explanation of the multiverse is very similar to how it is in my campaign when I had one of the gods explain it to the party (how fitting). But because this was a deity of the hearth and home, I used the metaphor of a house. The entire universe my players had seen, every world they have been to, every experience, etc... imagine it all being inside a single house. Nearly every house has similar interior spaces. Nearly each one has a bedroom, a living room, a toilet, etc. What differentiates the houses is how each of these rooms in designed, its size, what furniture is inside, etc. The same is true for the house that is our universe, standing in a neighborhood of other houses. Each with a differently furnished living room, each with a different look to their material world. Each house has their rooms placed differently, just as each universe has their cosmology differ. Each house has their own inhabitants in their own social structures, just like how each universe has different gods in different pantheons or systems, but these systems can still feel similar, like 2 families that both have 2 children and 2 parents. Same family structure, completely different people. And if 1 universe died, the house would burn down. If the ties to the rest of the worlds was not severed, the other worlds would burn too, just as a fire can spread to different homes.
2:39:45 "I am my scars!!" Jokes aside really one of Marks great moments of storytelling. And with great players as always and Trotts Music on point big time.
And this is Aerois, it has only one connection because it's just our game. And this the Forgotten Realms, it has many connection points because it is an official setting that everyone plays in.
"We need a spaceship that can break through time and space and the fabric of reality" Just strap the Starbreaker to the front of the twin star longbow and go really fast and believe in it really hard
Dude Mark using the truesight to describe everyone was sick as hell Starting at 1:43:47 Ok I’m gonna add another piece to this comment, this reminded me so much of the episode with Root, when they reveled everything about how Aerois has the world engine, MARK MAKES THE LORE FEEL SO BIG. And of course I love all the PCs, you guys play them so brilliantly, this is absolutely my personal favorite dnd show I’ve watched.
For the unfimilar. If you right click the bonus in DND beyond you can choose who sees the roll and switch between adv, disadvantage and regular roll. The same method can be used to access crit DMG on damage rolls
The music in this episode is top tier. Between the true sight moment and meeting Lady Dawnweaver, I'm mesmerized. Mark really painted a descriptive picture this whole episode. Loved it more than when Sentry and Lucious saw Hadar for the first time. AND Mark got choked up, he couldn't even say Rose Meadow's name!! I'm in tears.... Amazing job.
The images of the places and other heroes, such as the fight on the train and the scene before that, what was that a reference to? I haven't seen other HR campaigns, Im actually just finished catching up now, and they seemed to really enjoy it.
The first one with the snowy wasteland and the colorful characters was in reference to Critical Role Campaign 2. The second one I’m not sure. I don’t know if I’ve seen it but i have a feeling it’s referencing another actual play show
@@Ian.M. Nope. The Train scene is based on the Eberron campaign setting. I had a fight on top of a lightning train in an old home game a long time ago, but I suspect a lot of folks running Eberron did the same.

If mark had developed that far before now and it wasn’t before it certainly is now. That is to big not to come back and bite them. And now is the perfect time.
literally got to the part of the ep where the spider lady mentions an old enemy, went "oh no" and checked comments to see if anyone else thought of him... it was quite a bit ago so it would make sense he's had his revenge
Spoilers HOLY HELL AMAZING LORE MARK. Since the end of CoS I've been wondering how Aerois would(n't) fit into things. And that truesight scene was amazing. I was just waiting for someone to say 'follow the spiders'!
SPOILERS - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I feel like the best name for Rosemeadow is something connected to Aerois, like Siaska, or her favourite Aeorisian flower. She might have the memories of her family but she'll think of Aeoris as her true home.

Big fight next episode. Scared to find out how Mark will truly play the undead duo if he claims he wasn’t playing them smart. Although it makes sense RP wise, maybe the undead duo underestimated these foes but now they know their abilities they won’t make the same mistake. I believe out of everyone Sentry can survive without a head since her life comes from her matrix in her chest and the only downside is she’ll be under the blind condition
@@o.d.d.5437 I think it is entirely up to Mark, because Sentry is a Guardian, not a Warforged. So since it is a homered it is up in the air if she can survive without a head, but I personally think she could survive.
i fear that if this Mark weaves all multiverses to a single Web of Eternity, then besides Aerois Haddar there is another deadly threat in the Web, and its Drakkenheim Delerium
This was an interesting episode. While I think Mark attempted to raise the stakes by implying that the Aerois universe is just one of many, but the party's failure could lead to the destruction of other nearby universes, it really felt to me like it did the opposite. The picture that Mark painted of Kalas throwing the world engine into the Far Realm with Hadar was an incredibly bleak one, and it painted a stark and depressing picture for the future where everything that exists would be consumed. He hinted at the possibility that Hadar may be strong enough to move to other universes, but it still makes the heroes' plight seem less... crucial than it did before.
I might be completely wrong, but the one that i thought of when Mark said that was Three Black Halflings show “Outlaws and Obelisks”. There is an episode where there is a massive battle on a train that is extremely good.
@@SACII9899 could be! Checked them up and it seems to fit well with trains and magic as well (if we shall judge a book by its covers). Haven’t heard of them before so thank you for the tip, :)
That was a fun episode. But since you connected Feyrune and Ebberon... there is only one answer for Rosemeadow's name: Larue. For those that don't know Larue is the Unicorn mother of all Unicorns in the Feyrune lore. She is the daughter of Selune the goddess of all nature and intelligent animals/creatures.
So I've taken a break from this due to mental health and have fallen behind, but now I've got to run an Aerois campaign just in case things go sideways
Yawning Portal is a tavern in The Forgotten Realms, the staple world that is in most core dnd adventure modules. Aber-Toril is the planet if I'm not mistaken. The lightning train sounds like Eberron or Ravnica, but I'm not too familiar with either so I could be wrong. The group in the snow (ie. Half-orc, blue teifling, wizard, halfling, etc) was Critical Role's 2nd campaign in Exandria, Matt Mercer's world. They're another dnd show that Mark has been on as a guest. Matt, their DM, was on High Rollers very early as a guest for a Christmas one-shot. The one where they were in Goldthrone(even though they haven't actually been there yet). They're show is really good. I could never, nor would I ever dare, compare HR and CR. I love both shows and they all love each other too. Though Trott and Tom would absolutely say they're better, in a loving banter way. We hope.
