Escaping the Kigali Lockdown

Got an opportunity to escape my house, to do an unusual job in a rural district called Nyabihu.
It was weird driving through districts that were not in lockdown. Ohh, and you need to apply for clearance to be allowed on the roads.

Very good. I am growing also. I anticipate excess insects and rodents. My question is how to protect.
I am making wire cages on bamboo pole. At night I will also cover with cloth laced with repellant smells like mint. Most pest come at night. What they do?
Oh if bugs in daytime I put trabsoaernt cloth
