Japan in 4K Ultra HD - The beautiful Enmyo-ji Temple
Today we bring you Enmyo-ji Temple. This is the 53rd Temple of the famous Shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage. Small but beautifully built and well cared for.
The oldest copper plate plaque for the Shikoku sanctuary was found by an American pilgrim and is preserved in Enmyoji.
Dr. Stahl of the University of Chicago traveled to Shikoku in March 1913 and paid a visit to the Honson and Amida Nyorai sculptures in the temple.
The oldest and unheard-of copper plate measures 24 cm long, 9.7 cm wide, and 1 mm thick. It was created in 1650 during the early Edo period.
The Gochi Nyorai Stone Buddha (also known as the Five Dhyani Buddhas, or the five attributes of Buddha's knowledge), which was constructed by the devotee Hirato Higuchi, is credited with bringing back to life the Gochiyama Renge Temple in Kyoto. The fact that the term "henro" is written here for the first time is very noteworthy.
According to Engi, Gyoki Bosatsu created a statue of Amida Nyorai of Wonson, a statue of Kanzeon, and a sculpture commemorating the solstice in the first year of the Tenpy-Shh era, during the reign of Emperor Seibu (reigned 724-49).
It was allegedly constructed as a sizable religious complex with seven temples. At the time, it was known as "Kaizan / Reimei-ji Temple" and was situated on the beach of Nishiyama in Wakehama.
Filmed and uploaded in 4K Ultra HD at 25fps, check your RUclips settings of you cant see it in that resolution.
