I discovered you a few days back and I have to say superb content! With your great sense of humour and quality material your videos should have 10x the views they got so far! Love your videos on crop dusting and the Lukla approach and departure!
Hey Jimbo, you popped up quite randomly and I’m just addicted to your serene, other-worldly vids... I’m near London UK and 25 years of big jets has given way to flying my own tiddler around and it’s bliss! You’re awesome and I just love that dry Kiwi matter of fact delivery. 👍🏻🤩
That was bloody cool video. I fly microlights and have a flight from feilding to omaka so this flight was very informative thanks. And liked your map skills and decision making for bad weather.
Thanks mate, appreciate the kind words. I have a few vids to fit that bill and hopefully won't be far from uploading them! I'll be chucking plenty of snippets on fb and instagram 👌👍
Hey awesome video, very entertaining. Great decision making and good idea about turning towards the coast when approaching that rain. We don't fly gliders in that sort of weather very often, but occasionally we have a rain band to deal with or cloud on the ridge, that's a good strategy to use. Cheers
Newly graduated pilot from India here.I am really enjoying your content and learning from your channel.Suddenly, being an airline pilot doesn’t seem so great afterall.
Magnificent video. That weather reminded me of my X-country up the Stratford gap against a stiff head wind and decreasing ceiling and rising ground. I turned back. And another occasion my flight CFI chewed me out for not taking off out of Harewood when the pylons nearby penetrated the cloud-base. I was only VFR and low time. My yellow streak prevailed - still got told off. I am comforted to see the conditions in your video and how you judged them - I am not alone.
Loved watching this video as I used to fly that area about 40 years ago. As I cranky old Pilot I can only pick you up on one thing I used to get my arse kicked for and that's not switching the TP back to standby when changing codes. I am glad the 200 feet agl hard under cloud down the beach days are behind me.
another good one....thanks for posting. Used to be a ferry pilot. One of my favorite jobs....miss it when I see a video like this, although don't miss the waiting!
I used to drive for Sandford transport. I was delivering to a bin that Wanganui Aero was flying out of, I got the chance to go up in a cresco. I have to say they are a bit of kit, the power delivery is quite impressive. Hands down the best flying experience I have ever had, would love to go up in 1 again before I end up 6 feet under :)
Wow, that was a crazy flight! Yes, always pack skivvies and a toothbrush. :D That said, I found you via Facebook, where someone had posted a twin Otter which initiated a go-around at Lukla; in the comments was a link you had posted of your video flying in to Lukla. Too blurry, I decided to see if you were on RUclips, and here I am! Loved your narrative. As a Yank private pilot, I appreciated your commentary about always leaving yourself an out, and then executing that out... You Kiwis have some beautiful--and unforgiving--terrain. I wish the ship on which I served back in the day, would have visited NZ. Seems to be quite a beautiful place. We stopped in Darwin, and Tonga, but bypassed NZ--back in 1978. Have a great day! Jim
Gidday Jim thanks for the kind words! I am very fortunate to be able to call NZ home, I will get some more videos up showcasing her from the air! Cheers
@James Howes : In the early 1970's I worked at Dunedin airport. Early one morning we could clearly hear the Tower "ream out" the pilot of an Ag Wagon because he had left it idling on the apron while he bought a drink in the terminal. The conversation that followed was largely unrepeatable... probably closer to what you were thinking of? 😉
Great video!!, I grew up in Blenheim and know Omaha well, my late father was in the rnzaf, left there 36 years ago!, I have a friend in Australia with a air tractor!, awesome job you have
Giddy mate. You couldn't have put a video together any better, with the charts, audio, metservice radar... I work for a Ag Chopper co. in Northland, and I'm a Novice microlight pilot. Would love to have a yarn with ya sometime. (Oh and our family farms airstrip you would love... 800m long! )
Ps (saw you marking ag strips... I know a guy at North Shore Airport that has come up with a map layer on our Air Charts... of all farm airstrips in NZ. Fascinating how he did it with a computer program using NZ Topo data)
21:20 "Aahh... I don't like that we are getting lower and lower here" Not a statement you will hear too often from a guy who thinks a good day at work is finding a bunch of perk carrots in the undercart when he gets back to base! 😉
Hey mate. Most Crescos are on Ag ops. Plenty of XLs around doing a variety of roles around the world - Skydiving, cargo, pax, ag, firebombing. Have a yarn to a few operators and you never know what may come of it!
"I might have to consider an Off-Field landing": Typical General Aviation pilot: Heart rate increases, breathes faster, beads of perspiration appear on brow, voice goes up an octave, testes do a full retract! Ag pilot: YeeHaawww! Back where I belong! Relaxes. 😄 👍

Thanks mate, appreciate it 😊
Spent 12 months doing my flight training in NZ before returning to the UK, this brings back so many memories

Cheers Peter, appreciate the kind words 🤠
I've come to watch this video on the recommendation of an Air NZ Deamliner Captain. He said you make really good decisions that PPL can learn from.
ATPL's could learn a few things as well
That was terrific.
A good little tiki tour. Now you're making me homesick.
Thank you.
WOW Bloody good content Jim. I hope you keep making videos.
Such a great edit! Love your sense of humor.
This would be my favorite vids
Great Music as well
"Cheers" Jimbo

Thoroughly entertaining. Nicely put together. Thanks for sharing.
Brought back memories of flying school.. Great work mate!
Having held a PPL years ago I appreciate the hazards involved in trying to keep a correctly folded map on your knee when trying to fly & navigate😎
Jimbo.
Another enjoyable flight with you.
Good decision re coast line .
Stay safe my friend.
From prince Edward Island Canada. 15 hrs behind you.
Excellent trip!! Thank you very much for the ride along!
That was throughly enjoyable, funny and entertaining. Loved it. Would love more like that, maybe a day in the life of a topdressing pilot.👍
Thanks mate, appreciate the kind words. I have a few vids to fit that bill and hopefully won't be far from uploading them! I'll be chucking plenty of snippets on fb and instagram 👌👍

Re. Recording the pre-flight: I like flying videos more than crashing videos. Don't you worry about it! 😀
Great video!
Great video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Fun video Jimbo 👌 Nothing like a long distance ferry in NZ huh? Always a front somewhere!! What editting software are you using?
Cheers mate. Never a dull day in NZ eh?! 😁 I'm using adobe CC
😎😎 video, years ago we flew into Omaka and had to ring the tower afterwards! is that a Sat phone on the left?
Sure is! ☎️📞📡

I am really curious to know how does one go from here to landing at lukla. An ama on reddit or live session on youtube would be appreciated.
That sounds like a great idea, I'll do some digging on this. Cheers 🍻
@@JimboBurgess will look forward sir
I bet alot of new pilots(sub 1000 hour) like me would benefit from it.
21:20 "Aahh... I don't like that we are getting lower and lower here"

🙃
Awesome video! How does one get involved in flying these cool machines?
Hey mate. Most Crescos are on Ag ops. Plenty of XLs around doing a variety of roles around the world - Skydiving, cargo, pax, ag, firebombing. Have a yarn to a few operators and you never know what may come of it!
Awesome vid. Do ravensdown require you to be instrument rated?
Cheers! You don't need to be instrument rated. All Ag work is VFR 👍
Another video watch.
Did ya get any crays kaikoura
Haha I wish! 🦞😋🍽
"I might have to consider an Off-Field landing":

Ag pilot: YeeHaawww! Back where I belong! Relaxes. 😄 👍
Haha! 🤠
Ka mau te wehi e hoa, too much watch
it was!
AWP the dreaded 3.
What is that instrument outside left?
Lightbar. We use it for topdressing. This video explains it a bit more. ruclips.net/video/Bk2TCU1ky80/видео.html
Dodgy VFR pilots.
video destroyed by Music , keep it natural !!! 😡
