Man. I have never heard of you or seen any of your videos before. I have spent SO long going through this video in great detail and it is almost a work of art in itself. Incredible work, man!! I am stunned and in awe of your detail. Every tiny thing makes all the difference. You have yourself a new fan. Stunning stuff.
Amazing job on this Zach. Your instructional skills are also top notch and seeing your workflow was really really helpful. You actually show lots of A/B examples to show what the plugins do. You have mad skills beyond being an awesome guitarist. You have some golden ears man plus you can lay down vocals, nice!
Hey man! I really enjoyed watching the video! Appreciate the walkthrough. Do you mind if you can give a quick run though on what processing you did on the busses? I saw that you did some processing on the drum, bass and vox lead busses.
Thank you for sharing this, I am still a beginner at producing and this helped me immensely!! You also explain very well and have dense information in the video, this is really super helpful!
When you solo'd the chorus vocals/bgv together I realized how much this could be a DFA1979 track, your vocals are a great in-between of these two bands. Good job.
wow.. what a cover man !! You really nailed the performance and the mix ! That processing on the bass is really impressive, I always have trouble when trying to blend different amp from a same performance, resulting in some unwanted phasing and frequency masking. How did you got them all to work together ? Awesome work !!
aww man im gonna have to do some more backing vocals on my next song now, as what you've done is awesome! And of course them hand clap snares :) I knew i hadn't finished it ha!
Thanks very much! Big Idles fan. Maybe one of these days I'll get the itch to cover one of their tunes. I don't think I could pull off those vocals though hah! Thanks for checking out the video.
Hey Zach, killer mix you did there ! I sort of like yours better than the original (Which is great nonetheless!) I would love to see more of those Mix Breakdown content in the future as they are really informative. Cheers !
Amazing video! When blending different versions of the same performance in the bass did you run into any phase issues? If so how did you deal with them?
Hey Zach, this is a great breakdown of your process. I dig it. Is it possible to notate in your comments where to find some of these plugins and filters that are not stock as part of Logic? Again, this is really well-done.
Wow. So instructive. Do you build the beats out just punching on a midi keyboard? As a guitarist, I'm just learning to build out bespoke drums. It's definitely labor intensive! Seeing your work is inspiring!
Thanks Casey! I typically just draw them in on the piano roll in Logic. With GGD/EZ Drummer/Superior Drummer I'm usually having my heavy hits with the velocity at around 110 and then will back off other hits to have a more realistic sound like a hi hat pattern for instance. Usually most rock/pop/metal songs have lots of repetition in drum parts so once you've got a verse down, you can usually just copy & paste that to other sections of the song and do some subtle variation like changing up which cymbal is being played, kick pattern, fills, intensity, etc. It seems really tedious at first but you get the hang of it after a while. It probably took me 30 min or so to program the drums for this tune. Thanks so much for watching!
Typically I'm micing up amps pretty loud, although they don't always have to be loud to sound good. I always put a full signal chain in the video description of how a particular video was recorded. You can definitely get great results from a load box/IR but I've been enjoying micing up amps recently since I wasn't always able to do that in the past due to neighbors, but no longer a concern. Thanks for checking out the video!
Not sure Logic Pro X has been out for 15 years… 🤔 Anywho, Pete from MBN here. Just wanted to say HEY, you’ve got a new subscriber, and let you know I’m digging your content! Good man. Keep it up. Would love to connect one day. I primarily work in S1 these days (left Slow Tools for S1 yrs back, however I cut my teeth using Logic 7 way back when… and frankly DAWs are irrelevant… we’re all doing the same things to get the same end results with different tools… never understand why some ppl refuse to watch vids w someone working in a diff daw… I digress) but Logic Pro X is solid. I sometimes jump into Logic when I’m writing because I like the creative workflow. I just personally don’t click w the editing suite. I went to PT for the editing but everything else that S1 and Logic do so damn well PT is horrible with. The most important thing is that DAWs in 2022 don’t have different sounds. I remember that up until 2010-ish DAWs actually had diff sounds when printing mixes from the algos. In the early 2000’s you could print the same mix in Pro Tools and Logic and they’d sound different. I’m sure you remember. Anyway, great vid, love the guitar content too. Drop me an email to: MBNpire@gmail (my reg address on the website is getting changed up: use this) if you ever wanna have a Skype beer and nerd out on audio and guitars 👊🏼😛✌🏼 - Pete

That bass line in the chorus is absolutely phenomenal
Yeah, such a cool riff. Thanks for checking out the video!
Hands down my favorite of all your videos -- they're all amazing, but this is next-level. Your musicianship + engineering skills are legit awesome.
Thanks so much Anthony! Very much appreciated!
Please make a cover and breakdown of OBLIVION off the new album!! Loved this video
That little reverse tambourine trick in the chorus is cool. I'll have to mess around with that!
Yeah! I love those little bits of ear candy in songs. Super cool. Thanks for watching!

The combined plugin cost for this track is more than the value of my MacBook Pro 😅
Great work 🫡
Stoked to see the mix breakdown! I recently tried doing a teenage wrist cover as well after seeing yours!

This is sick. As a Logic user I'm looking forward to checking more of this out.
Awesome! Glad you like it. I'm looking to do more of them in the future. Thanks for watching.
Awesome video man! Love the detailed walk through. Would you be up for doing something like that for Idles or Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes? :)
Thanks very much! Big Idles fan. Maybe one of these days I'll get the itch to cover one of their tunes. I don't think I could pull off those vocals though hah! Thanks for checking out the video.
Perfect!

@@ZachWish welcome!!
Hi, great job, sounds like the original. Are you thinking of sharing/selling this Logic session?
Wow. So instructive. Do you build the beats out just punching on a midi keyboard? As a guitarist, I'm just learning to build out bespoke drums. It's definitely labor intensive! Seeing your work is inspiring!

golden ears
Hi!! 11:26 - stupid question, probably. Im a noob. How do u split the signals??
This is great man thanks so much for the vid!
Awesome. Glad you enjoyed it!
Would you mind naming all the plugins for the vocals?
This is so mega!
Thanks for checking out the video Diogo!
Hey Zach, did you record the bass tracks one at a time or were you able to do multiple at once?
Do you turn up your amps loud to record or use load boxes? I'm asking because you often sit beside the cabinet :)
@@ZachWish so the tip is “keep playing loud till your neighbours move away” (I’m kidding😂). Thanks for the video, plenty of great ideas🚀
Where can i buy synth tracks?
As well as guitar tracks
