I just wanted to comment in appreciation of what you said in your introduction. I'm an US Army veteran and a great believer in surplus gear for civilian use (Alice packs, canteens, sleeping bags, etc), but like you, I wouldn't wear a specifically badged item unless I earned it. After watching several of your videos, I suspect that most Marines would cut you a break because of your respect and legitimate knowledge of equipment, but I understand where you're coming from. Keep up the good work!

Not a problem! I believe those who served should be treated with respect for the sacrifices they made for us :) not wearing their insignia is one small way I show that respect. Unfortunately I've met far to many people who try to feed off those sacrifices to impress others.
The best thing I've ever done is start walking up to the people I question when I hear them bragging and ask what their MOS is and about their dd-214. I love how all the "special forces" guys give a blank stare and spout off some random crap that makes no sense. I even had one guy who claimed to be a sniper in collage "freshman maybe 19 years old" I asked what his MoS was and he asked what that was.... I said it was your job when you were in the military. He said "I was a sniper I already said that" I just laughed :) at that point he asked my wife who was sitting next to me if I was her brother... she said I was her feoncey and he said "oh" and walked away lol.

I agree. I am a marine vet, i wouldnt normally think anything of it to see someone wearing the ega on it. But i do appreciate the respect you have for those who have earned the title. Especially when you say its better quality and you settle for less because of that respect. This was the first of your videos i watched and right after that comment i hit subscribe.

I think the most useful portion of this vid was the sizing information. I didn't know they shrink down a bit after washing. I just ordered a Rothco urban tiger stripe boonie. thanks.....

You guys are making a big deal about wearing a boonie hat with the marine insignia. I waa active duty for 3 dreadful years in a field unit in Germany, so if I want to wear a marine boonie, I will. I could undertand if you wear medals and awards that you didn't earn or if you didn't serve at all, then I would lose my cool over that. But for a hat, it's no big deal.

While not illegal unless you're a Marine you should refrain from wearing their symbols.
Generally speaking if you weren't in the service associated with that symbol you shouldn't ware it.

Yeah, I won't put a freaking Nazi eagle on my underpants, neither I won't use Marine Corps symbols because I am not a Marine

Well done! I own a couple of MARPAT Boonies made by Tru-Spec and Propper. I love these hats but I refuse to wear any symbols/patches/EGA logos for the same reasons you've mentioned.

I get the respect ect....however I have family! And few friends between all in usmc navy and Air Force including my sis and bro I’ll wear what I want expect patches first it’s my way of support secondly as far as earning those are OUR countries colors aside from red white and blue and if ever! There was a draft if ever there’s a need and called upon them guess who’s going to do what needs to be done and it won’t be for school funds or bragging rights it will be for country!. That’s just my thoughts some folks are extremely sensitive I get it. I have family that have made that ultimate sacrifice for those fallen I thank for the freedoms we have. It’s just sad that the real war is within.

Nobody cares. Wear what you want, but don't use your family's service as some sort of self-bolstering crutch.

It's a free country. I don't buy the "right to wear it" attitude; No law against it. I would think it is a way to show support for our Marines and the military. Howsomever . . . I own the Rothco one you are talking about, ha. ha. Good hat and is great for hiking. I have expensive hats like Tilley hat but don't take that out hiking as I have been known to loose a hat when I am hiking. So if I loose trhis Rothco Boonie, its easily replaced. Thanks for the video.

    Thanks for the review.
But the US link directs you to a Tru-Spec boonie. Are they the same?
