      Just did the exact step with my hx ute on Saturday. It had been sanded years ago and left outside so tiny pits was my challenge. I tried wire wheel and fibre wheel which got most of it. I did tiny bits of spot blasting and some rust gel in other bits. I'm shitting myself that I've missed bits. I used same product as you. Luckily they only sanded off a few patches, not the whole ute.

    Awesome video mate , really like all the advice especially like how to read the measuring cup correctly, stuff you would know if you were painter but might not as a DIY guy at home

      Thanks mate, thats good to hear im just trying to get work done and give as much advice and tips as i can. Thats exactly right whats easy to me and known may not be known or easy to a DIY guy especially if its the first time they are having a go at it

    Love your work mate. I've got the hush 100 for my vs resto and love it. Keeps up fine for what I'm doing. Just running a unimig at1000 filter and second reg filter after it to stop water. Crazy impressed with the Chicago hush.

    Awesome project and thanks for sharing your knowledge. Would love to see the mechanical side of the project too if you tackle that. Newbie question when applying epoxy one area at a time is it necessary to mask/stop overspray on previously epoxied panels? I figure it needs to be scuffed prior to filler/hi build anyway so haven’t bothered at this stage.

    • @vautorefinishing7672
      @vautorefinishing7672  7 месяцев назад +1

      Nah mate you dont have to mask off previously done panels as you said its got to be rubbed anyway. I only do it because im just in the habit of doing it, i dont want overdpray over the dash or engine bay so i could get away with just masking those up

    that ol ute is in good condition for it age most of them the quarters are full of rust and dents

    • @vautorefinishing7672
      @vautorefinishing7672  7 месяцев назад

      It actually is in good nick for its age and being a ute, like you said they are normally pretty well stuffed. This ones really surprised me with gow little rust it has and the body isnt too bad, id rather deal with dents than a car full or cancer any day for sure

    P.S, Still very interested as to how your compressor goes too! As I said previously I was a little underwhelmed by its performance? 🤷‍♂️

    • @vautorefinishing7672
      @vautorefinishing7672  7 месяцев назад

      No worries man, let me know what it was about the compressor that made you feel underwhelmed so i can try and replicate it and see if mine differs at all?

    • @lachlanwoods3940
      @lachlanwoods3940 7 месяцев назад

      Good to hear your keen mate, reckon the Ute will come up a treat, are you revealing the colour early?? 😂 My compressor won’t go above 105-110 psi for a start on the gauge at. Least, and with just one orbital going continuous it runs out of steam, you can hear. The sander change pitch as it loses air? Just seems to not keep up how I thought it would, should be able to run 2 of those sanders flat out?? 🤷‍♂️

    Awesome project, but just make sure it meets the Euro6 emissions standards or our government probably wont let you register it in the future. Labour is looking after us car people...

      @vautorefinishing7672  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah they always are lookin out for us car people arent they the pricks, im only doing the body and paint on this one then it will be back to the owner to deal with all of that fun stuff

  • @bigears4014
    @bigears4014 7 месяцев назад +1

    You'll fuck that compressor if you paint near it , the teflon can't take any abrasion, I know there are filters but stuff still gets in

    • @vautorefinishing7672
      @vautorefinishing7672  7 месяцев назад

      Thats all good mate cheers for the heads up, im not painting anything in the shed just flickin some epoxy and primer here and there but will keep that in mind, was looking at moving it towards the back end of the shed anyway to prevent it getting full of dust and overspray
