Ewan, your elbow is still to high in the preparation of the shot. Would make a massive difference i think. Stan’s lowering his elbow more to create topspin.

A tip Ewan: When you prepare, your wrist is in extension and abduction (google images if you don’t know the meaning). This is very common because it’s a usual preparation for many other shots such as forehand volley and bandeja. But actually for the kick smash it’s way better if the wrist is in slight flexion and slight adduction during the preparation.
There are some other small details you could change but this is mainly why your kick smash looks so different to the kid’s (whose technique is very good).

Very difficult shot to perfect and the beauty of it is once the technicalities fall in place it looks so effortless. Loved the video, keep them coming.

Hey Ewan! Nice video! Are you squeezing the racket or having a loose grip when you strike the ball?

It is crazy how easy it can go out with so little effort. When I try it (and I come from tennis, so the move should come naturally), I start out well seemingly, but then crouch my body as it cramps to give power to it, resulting in too little topspin or under in the net because I hit the ball way too low. When I practice those balls against the glass like you did in the beginning I am much more relaxed and after 2 or 3 practice hits in a row it flies back over the net or almost (so I can practice that trickshot over the net with backslice hehe)

We found we actually did better at the start then when we had too many, cos we started trying too hard towards the end haha

Very good video. Just waiting to be on court soon to try this! You hold the raquet differently than Stan when smashing...thats why he smashes better i think. Thanks for the vid.

Yeh but can turn it even more to get more kick - loose and low as well

All your right arms fault..... it will be an easy fix, you want your elbow down and racket to start head height (also you leave your left arm "in the way" too long...rip it down like a cricket bowler)

You have a bit of a racket drop leak, that’s why it’s harder for you to create topspin/power.
You could also work on the fluidity of your kicksmash

This slow smashes would be very easy to block in a match. I think its only effective if you mask them and The opponent think you're going for a regular bandeja.

Gran video 👍🏼. Muy interesante y divertido pero en un partido real es un golpe que te hara perder mas puntos que los que ganas. Incluso para profesionales es muy arriesgado golpear tras la linea. Con todo respeto. Un saludo.

Cool video. Fun to see how little power you need. But you should actually impact the ball lower than on a flat smash, if you hit it at full stretch the racket can’t brush up the back of the ball. So if you let the ball drop a little more before you hit up on it you will get more topspin

  • @totallyrandom3610

Cool! I see you guys smashing it to the right side. Is that easier than the left side when ur right handed?

    • @Darth_vader676
      @Darth_vader676 4 дня назад

On the right side is a totally different shot.Because the top spin will push the ball to the center.

I would never say is useless to practice this. Im at the point im getting frustrated of having a bad smash, i feel like i improve in everything but the smash is still trash, but need more days like this to improve.
PD: maybe also is difficult because i leave in Norway and we play in very humid place, close to the sea, and is very cold. Hope one day i can try my smash in a warm place

@mingi1489 one thing that help me from being trash to being more decente was recording myself. That way I saw i was hitting not so over my head but more on the side, and was not putting topspin but more sidespin, and I'm still trying to fix that
