Another excellent explanation of how swing speed is produced. Most other instructors will tell us not to pull, and if they do tell us to pull, they certainly don’t tell us to swing the club, i.e., turn the forearms over. They call that rolling the wrist, which is a no-no to them. So a miss educated student will not swing the club. Most other instructors are telling us to straighten our lead leg, but they are not telling us it should be up and back nor are they telling us that the trail leg should also be up and back in the take away. Thanks, as always, for the correct education. Keep being honest, even if it means being contrary, love it. Cheers.
Great video Stu! Tried this and got a 15 mph head speed increase to 88.5 mph with my 7 iron. Crazy! When you said pull harder and longer on the handle that was when it finally clicked for me. With your grip, I was able to push off harder to initiate and then continuously pull all the way early and keep my radius (you had another video on pushing arms out from chest). And with the pressure down on handle end, I felt I have face stability as well! Phenomenal! Many things coming together now-thank you for making great content like this!
Excellent, putting together, core elements that all makes sense. No talk of front post or posting up, just Pull, push, swing…and clearly demonstrating…. Gotta find a range…😊
Love all your instructions. I’ve listened to all you u-tube instructions and your advice is the best l ever heard makes sense but I can see the pros miss there direction is all the grip. Would love to see a video on how to swing without all the wrong instructions. Thanks for what you do. Like how you prove the wrong way swing to because you show it.
I have the luxury of watching these for the first time when I’m in the monitor Saturday mornings at 5 am. Committing to the pull seems to be key for me. No longer have to back off which takes some getting used to. A fitting will be needed! Forever indebted my friend. NWH

This makes total sense now. I suffer from my whole body moving passed the ball at impact because I'm worried about catching it thin if i push back with my left leg (I have a weak grip). Watching this and combining it with your stronger left hand grip video will hopefully allow me to trust the pull push swing concept more.

This is me all day long , pull with no swing and leg movement , all from trying to hit down on the ball , fantastic video explaining what needs to be done
GREAT CHANNEL,after a week my game is so much more .Must admit I was sceptical, but tried ,and saw and felt and my scores improve .Don't watch any others now
Wow thanks! This was exactly what I was looking for! I’ve been struggling to put all these things together and now I’ve got a plan how to practice these.
Another great video. Love it, I can now visulize in my mind what the body mechanics should be. If the mind can see it and believe it the body will do it. Thanks.
Excellent video again Stu. I think we are all guilty of shutting one of those down, especially if we lose confidence, so understanding you need all 3 for hitting good shots is crucial
Great vid, as usual Stuart! The word 'Pull' is tricky since it connotes power but power isn't speed. For me, power tends to make me to tighten the arms and shoulders and turn off the other speed producers-the legs and hands. I like to think more like it's casting a fishing rod- there's the initial pull and then there is a braking system that let's tip of the rod catch up and the line/sinker to shoot forward. By adding the other ingredients, this vid shows the complete picture!
Thanks so much Dennis - always love hearing your feedback. Our journey on Skillest has and continues to be, so so engaging. Hope you’re enjoying AZ! Will be back to you later in Skillest. Best wishes Stu 😊
Hi Stuart, I was on the range yesterday using all the tools you have given me to make me a better player. I have found having some right knee bend in the pull phase gives me a strong base for the swing phase.
Hi Stu, great video thanks. Never occurred to me to time the left leg push (post) that early, I been trying to time it from last parallel (club delivery) so only get about 86 speed with 7iron. Will def give that a whirl. 👍
It is very informative to try pulling all the way through the swing and interesting that there is no real speed gain. Thanks for the great videos and coaching.
Another great video. Increasingly convinced that bullfighters and golfers have one thing in common. Better to have only one coach and one swing philosophy. Otherwise. Bad things can happen.
Good vids, seen a few popup in my feed recently, this one is another good one. As some one who has just started the great game, I find these videos very useful. so much so I might even subscribe one day. :)
Hmm. This is Interesting. Using this method, without really knowing why it was working, transformed my range practice earlier this year, but I struggled to take it to the course. Often I would hit thin shots and then end up back on the pull train by the end of the round. Something I clearly need to re-visit as I was clearly on the right track.
Actually feel like a bunch of things just marry up here so easy to understand, physically doing it though and making new muscle memories is a whole other kettle of fish, excellently communicated though!
yes you create a pull load and release, but do you pull on the handle with everything youve got most will leave club behind move head toward target etc will keep watching video
great video, great attempt to break down and describe dynamic athletic motion! struggling with the swing section, its only words but i feel it as a strike or release swing sounds slow to me
I really enjoyed this video Stuart, thank you for taking the time & effort to do it. Is there a bit of timing in the swing phase so you're not hitting at the ball but through it towards the target and is this timing more of a feel that you have to develop? I hear a lot of teachers talking about swinging through the ball and not at it and I'm not sure what the distinction between the two is.
Thanks for the kind feedback net zero. I would encourage you to refer back to my video on timing “and” tempo. There is timing in every swing, fast/slow/pull/not pull. So every swing has a large timing element to it. Hope that helps. Best wishes Stu 😊
Great content Stu, any experience or views on speed stick training. I have been experimenting with hitting the driver harder to gain distance and there is a definite correlation between hitting hard and hitting out of the middle of the club, when you then mix in some of the ideas on this vid it get really interesting. I use GX golf gloves they are great.
......good one Stu...... If I'm overthinking this I apologize. Would it be safe to say that the pull part and the push part you can consciously think about doing put the actual swing part is not a conscious move but just happens as a result of the other two?.......thanks ⛳🍺
Hey Gary, I don’t believe you’re overthinking at all. The swing part is absolutely a conscious thought at impact. Vital, I’d say. Hope that helps buddy. Best wishes Stu 😊
@@GoodGolfCoaching ...... Okay it's official I'm overthinking it. I guess where my confusion comes in is because I feel muscles consciously activated for the pull and the push put in my mind the swing part is more of a letting go thought. There is a belief in golf ( science based?) that the pull you describe will eventually induce the club shaft to release automatically about the wrists. Furthermore another engineering principle of the club is that it is designed for the toe to automatically rotate faster than the heel. Therefore this would indicate that ideally you should have passive wrists and a grip attuned to the closure rate of the clubhead. Do you agreed with both these statements. As you also point out there has to be a brake applied at some point. ( timing). Therefore if the above are true the downswing is a pull and brake with appropriate grip and nothing else added. Does that make sense. Thanks.
The pull will induce a larger reaction, than no pull, the swing will occur when the acceleration of the handle reduces. You can’t have passive wrists at strike, not possible. The toe is always going to orientate around the heel due to cog. Hope that helps. Best wishes Stu 😊
Hi there, hope you’re well… it’s very much with the shoulders as pulling in the handle will load the shoulders. Starting with the torso suggests no pull of the handle. Hope that helps. Best wishes Stu 😊
Would have been interesting to see the data from @dewiz on those swings. Would it show the same hand speed with different club head speed?, would it show a different distance to impact of the max hand speed?
Hi Stuart, really enjoying your videos, idea of having a counter to the pull action is such a good one I think will really help my game. One quick question, when you talk about releasing/swinging the club at impact, how does this differ from the idea of “flipping”? Is it ‘swinging’ the club too early? Or something else? Hope that makes sense!
Hi Alexander, releasing or as I reference it as “swinging” the club is accepting the golf cub “head” must swing. Flipping is referring to the orientation of the club head and this is very much a reference of where the club face is directed. Two very different ingredients. Hope that helps. Best wishes Stu 😊
With The Pull, should you be feeling this is with your body or your arms? And as far as feel, is the pull the increased pressure you feel in your left pectoral? Thank you.
