Also the top part (above halo near intake). There is a strong piece called roll hoop that supposed to not fail and keep the car slanted when flipped so it does not slide like Zho’s car did. Look at the crash this week that broke Stef Wilsons back in Indy 500 practice. Within 10 seconds he had two paramedics and two firefighters attending to him. It's not the 70s anymore where drivers had to help each other (Williamson, Lauda etc).

The roll bar didn't fail, it was ripped out of the carbon body because it is not part of the body like the halo but "glued in" and the carbon is strong in 2 direction, but smash it in wrong direction and it crumbles.
Alfa's roll bar was up to standard, the fault was the overall F1 car design. So ANY other car would have had the same result.
In a crash you want the car to crumble and break because that's how you dissipate energy, it has to go somewhere, either through the car crumbling thus reducing the kinetic energy or it will go through the driver, basic physics ma boi, and thus the reason only one person has died since Ayrton Senna accident 19years ago.
No other sport in so strict in terms of efficiency and longevity. Although it breaks often keep it in mind the parts are design to outstand a minimum of certain amount of races meanwhile most other car do whatever between the races.

Like his response was great and he deserves some recognition for it, but they feature Zhou for less than a minute, in which he basically just describes the crash, says he's okay, then tops it off by saying how good a guy George was. Like the man was the only rookie last year, and I could count the number of times DTS featured him on one hand. Even if Hamilton claims right and left to be Ayrton Senna's biggest fan, it was George Russell who trully acted Senna-like that day, and in something that can't really be faked, because it's on a deeper layer of his character as a human being. You see, Senna is normally remembered for his wins, but he also abandoned his car (Belgic92) to try and save a fellow driver's life (Erik Comas, who tried to return the favor in Imola94, but sadly it was too late). That's the difference between a good driver and an amazing one. All kudos for this young, great guy, because he could choose to not care for an "adversary", but absolutelly did. Sports scene urgently needs more people like him. I prayed for Zhou's safety that day, and Russell totally got a new fan in me after that.
