Welcome to Metallica. Now let’s get you in to TOOL. Try “ 46 and2 “
Have y'all ever listened to Imagine Dragons song Demons??
I recently came across your channel and appreciation for all sorts of music (which is great for one's soul to be honest). Since you've been checking out some country and liked Chris Stapleton, you should look at these two country songs.. Cam's. Burning house; and Michael Ray's - Her world or mine (Jai might want tissues close by; it's a life humbling Vibe). Enjoy and keep going you two!!
Korn - Freak on a Leash
It's based off a great anti-war book called Johnny got his gun by Dalton Trumbo. Recommended reading for anyone joining the military.
So, I've realized that, as fans, we take these songs for granted. Watching people react for the first time brings us back....it's a great fucking thing
I wish I could see this video and hear this song for the first time again 😫
That's the beauty of reactions. It gives you a whole new look at it from someone else's perspective.
This is why I watch music reactions❤
For the first time listening to the song, they sure picked up on the meaning quicker than most do. I'm impressed.
yeah... despite pausing right in the middle of all the points being made... They seemed to miss the whole "...not mine" part of the Padres answer to the officer...
It's from the book Johnnie's got his gun you guys nailed it yes he is a ww1soldier he lost his arms legs sight hearing and speech to a landmine he is asking God to kill him as the line goes "hold my breath as i wish for death please God wake me " Metallica is kinda the NF of the metal world they sing about real shit master of puppets a song you need to check out and fade to black there are so many trust me you wont be disappointed if you like storytelling trust me Metallica will deliver
You nailed it James! Thats why Metallica is my favorite band.
Can't forget disposable heroes, blackened, and justice for all.
Honestly any song from their first five albums is great!
Metallica wrote this song in part cuz the actual book had been banned from schools. The movie was for a time being shown in classrooms but supposingly deemed too disturbing or anti-war propaganda. This was a time in the eighties where censorship began creeping its way into our culture. Many metal bands at the time were fighting censorship as well was rap. Metallica chose this as their first music video ever to ensure this literature stays in the thought of youth. The song Eye of The Beholder from same album is about censorship also. Great lyrics in that one too. Welcome to our (metalheads) world.
Morse code was his only form of communication thru the bobbing of his head
This is my favorite song. By anyone. Ever. I have heard it hundreds of times... and the part where he cries for his mother and says "Mother, please help. I'm having a nightmare and I can't wake up!" Gets me every single time....
Guys, if you stay in metal and keep reacting, you'll find that the lyrics and metal are very very on point with life and everything that goes on very deep lyrics and a lot of these songs.
James Hetfield: "LANDMINE, HAS TAKEN MY SIGHT, TAKEN MY SPEECH, TAKEN MY HEARING, TAKEN MY ARMS, TAKEN MY LEGS, TAKEN MY SOUL..."
Half: "Maybe he got blew up by a landmine and like maybe it blew some of his face off or something like that..."
You guys are hilarious, keep up the reactions!
Lolol. They gotta do the videos that show lyrics
To be honest Jai you would look stunning in any hair color and I'm sure Half agrees. Lucky man indeed!! You guys are on the rise. I love the #goodvibes
Rock music comes with its own feelings. I love seeing the faces and reactions of someone who's never listened to rock before and discovering those feelings.
aWWWW Yeah... starting down the Metallica journey... so many killer songs.
Please do more metal
Let's do
Metallica - fade to black
Please
Yes, that's the perfect follow-up choice!
Fade to black!!!!
I just appreciate how open minded you two were in this. Love it.
You guys had me headbanging to this. My favorite all time band and taught myself how to play drums thanks to Lars Ulrich!
You should definitely react to "Master of Puppets" by Metallica.
First seen this video in 1989 when I was 17. Still gives me the chills even now. Do the math. Beautiful to see this type of music lives and still makes people feel the same as we who grew up with it. Thank you so much for reviewing. You can start a journey down the path of this type of music and you will not regret it. That's a promise!
I give you massive credit jamming out at times yet still picking up the story that's being told in the background and through the lyrics 👏🏼
Good call Half. Based on Johnny got his gun WW1 book made into movie
Oh man. You guys have to listen to this stuff with headphones. It’s dramatically different
Loved the reaction. Hope to see more Metallica and more rock/metal in general. Anything from their S&M concert is dope. "Bleeding Me" is a personal favourite.
Yess its about James' alcohol addiction
First four albums.. the rest should e forgotten with only a couple exceptions
For the first time listening to heavy metal, y’all nailed! It was fun watching the energy take over and send you into head banging, moshing, and air guitar!
First time watcher! Love it! Looking forward to the Hopsin videos!
Worked local crew when Metallica was in Knoxville in ‘92. Assisted the lighting crew setting up. Still have my local crew t-shirt. It was only Metallica and they played for 3 hours plus. Cool thing is we were allowed to roam around during the concert.
She really wanted to, but her bun had zero chance against a true Metallica headbanging lol
Epic true story
That wig was about to fly across the room.
What I wouldn't give to hear this song for the first time again. Amazing experience. ONE of the best songs ever created.
You both have awesome hair, and by your reactions, one can assume you are both champions for metal! 2020 might turn out alright after all.
Seeing you guys rock out .. while ACTUALLY understanding what the song is about makes me so happy as a Metallica fan 🤘
I was born in 1983 and my dad loved Metallica so naturally I did too. We would listen to it on the way to take me to kindergarten head banging and all. Rip William J. Blackford
This movie is free on RUclips. It's called Johnny got his gun.
Half and jai pieced the message together right quick .very impressive !
You picked one hell of an intro to the genre. This is one of the most intense rock songs ever. In addition to the story being told, you had over 3 straight minutes of the most intense, fast music ever played. Glad you liked it!
"help me mother, im having a nightmare and I cant wake up"
get me every time.
powerful.
The Dr saying " this man will be as unfeeling as the dead until the day he joins them" is the line that gets me.
@@lndvideo yes sir, rock on my brother.
@@Jdockery007 exactly! The only rule of metal is play it loud!
Five Finger Death Punch “Wrong Side of Heaven”
Yes to this
This song will def make her cry but it's such a great song /video
as a combat vet, please do
Another song that needs the video to get the full message.
Yes to this
I love your reactions to music that's unknown to yall... it brings it back and helps appreciate the music all over again! Always been one of my favorite songs... now I see it in a different light. Thank you.
You seem so nice people and thank you for this reaction. Metallica is legendary 🤘
Props to you guys for really listening and understanding the song this is why I love you guys! You guys really care about the music !!
Absolutely LOVE watching first time metal exposure. Your comments will steer you to other awesome Metallica songs. Master of puppets is a great addiction story. Great stuff you two.
Jai your hair is fucking AMAAAZING!!!! Love that y'all checked out some Metallica, you 2 are awesome
I just recently discovered you guys. I didn’t know this was your first metal video. You are natural headbangers. Hip-hop and rock/metal have lots in common. Head nods - head bangs - same thing.
You guys were rockin' it!!! So much fun watchin you two!!!
I love the confidence for the hair. I've been watching a while now and finally subbed for this "One", keep up the good vibes especially in these times!!
Dude awesome video. Love the hair Jai
I think your the first couple I have seen here on youtube that has actually understood what the lyrics are about. Respect
Hahahahaha Jai at the end “huh? Well, cheers up” hahaha I love her
When it comes to metal there is Metallica and everyone else. Metallica will change your life.
That’s truth man, there’s a reason Metallica is the biggest of the metal bands
Love this reaction. Great tune! Love the lime hair too! At one point I though Jai was going to take out the hair clip and start head banging lol. Thanks for this! Much love!
this was so epic, i relived listening to this song again after 20+ years.... was totally headbanging with you
This song won a Grammy for Metallica in 1989. They performed it live on that broadcast. Needless to say: their fan base broadened quite a bit! I saw them perform it live in Seattle Washington in 1988 (I"m old!) And it was one of the first times that they ever played it. It was a trip AND it was freaking AWESOME!! Take care you guys
So I just stumbled upon your channel.
You look like y’all had a good time :) best Metallica reaction I’ve watched in a while. Thanks so much :)
Jai drops it hot! Excited to see your reaction to this!
This song is based on the movie that was based on a soldier that lost his arms, legs, sight and hearing during world War 1. He could only communicate through morse code. He felt all alone and kept asking to be put out of his misery. Love the openmindedness of delving into other genres, and live how in love the two of you are. Families that react together stay together! LOL
The concept of this song (and the book/movie) has always been so haunting and terrifying to me. Imagine losing all your limbs and senses but still having to go on living as just a consciousness in a black void. What happens when you run out of thoughts and you have another 50 years to go?
LOVING THE HAIR!!!!! Metallica is so dope with them instruments guys. So crisp and clear, and very melodic comparing to "heavier" metal! Love yall
This is my favorite song and one of the best guitar solos of all time. Glad you both enjoyed it.
Thank yall for being open minded to listening to this masterpiece. Hands down my favorite Metallica song to this day. As a soldier and the grandson of a WWII veteran I really feel this song. Heavy Metal was my first love but, loved Hip Hop since I got LL’s first album. (Yeah I’m old). Anyway, I think more people that listen to Hip Hop should be more open to Metal and vice versa.
Man, you guys are rocking out. Perfect!
The song and video are based on a 1939 novel "Johnny Got His Gun". In 1971 it was made into a movie with the same name. Metallica used actual clips from the movie in the video here for "One".
Man what a beautiful couple... I'm glad to find you guys and looking forward to see more reactions :)
This is probably one of the best metal songs ever written and played. Metallica slayed this one! My favorite! As people listen to this for the first time they tend to miss the message over the music, Which is unbelievable!! You have to listen to this song in stages to really appreciate everything that is transpiring in this song. #1 Listen to the lyrics first. #2 Understand the story line or the message. #3 Listen to the awesome instrumentation/ music. #4 Feel the emotion of the victim through the music. #5 Appreciate how much physical effort, Musical coordination, Stamina, and Spiritual value this has as a message. Metallica is trying to wake people up through their music. Even though many are still asleep maybe; It got through to some. The music represents the emotional consistencies of the victim who is literally Physically destroyed, dying, and going through the greatest emotional confusion a human being can go through. The military industrial complex who makes trillions of dollar's off the blood and life sacrifice of human beings. I cannot believe/comprehend that we still live in a world where, we as people allow the elite to control us to the point that we sacrifice ourselves willingly in the name of Democracy and Honor. There is a time for war but, not the way it has occurred for the last 100 years. Perpetual war????????????? There is no HONOR in murdering each other.
Enjoyed the fuck out of your reaction! Keep up the good work and keep rockin!🤟🏾
you guys weren't even born yet when this song was released. Glad you are trying out all sorts of genre's of tunes, awesome to see!
METALLICA!!!!!!
MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BAND
I'm happy you guys are doing METALLICA reactions. Love it!!!
I had to giggle when you said 'The group is called Metallica"... It doesn't even fit in my brain that they would need an introduction, or that people wouldn't know who they were; and then I remembered not everyone listens to the music I love, no matter how much I love it! LOL This is a crazy powerful song and very deep, based on an old movie about the same topic. Regardless of whether you like heavy metal or not, you can not deny the talent here. They are rock gods and legends! I tell people the same thing about Eminem and Garth Brooks when people say they don't like rap or country (respectively). Keep those #GoodVibes coming, guys!
mad respect for you both. Glad you did this and branched out from your comfort zone. Your closing thought about the "men and women fighting to allow you to do what you do" Nuff said - drop mic.
I’ve seen people who don’t like the genre just diss it. But you guys really showed it respect and appreciate it for what it is. Metallica are not only icons of metal, but music in general
Your words at the end of the video made me SMILE taking and consideration of this poor man's agony sharing you would not want to "live" like that. Then the respect for those who do these things for us that do not get the respect they deserve as of late
I remember being 8 years old (in ‘88) watching this video at my grandparents house cuz we didn’t have MTV. It moved me then and every time I heard it since. Glad y’all enjoyed it too. And now that you know youre feelin some metal: Try FISHBONE “Servitude” it will blow your minds
It was SO much fun to see your first reaction to metal, thanks for sharing!
Do you realize that you guys head banged 3/4 of the video?? Lol...
Fricking AWESOME 🤘🤘🤘
You have just listened to One...now you are One of us.
“Don’t you have some message for him, Padre?”
“He’s a product of your profession, not mine…”
You two totally nailed it! Great job!
I LOVE that you understand the song, PLEASE have lyrics on each reaction. AND, I also enjoyed that you appreciated the song and instrumentation! Well done!!!
Great Reaction Half & Jai !!!
That was fun watching y'all react to that.
Now Y'all done it. By the way Jai is rockin that color.
I like you guys... very open minded and intelligent individuals expanding your music horizons. Great stuff!
Now my metal friends, try Metallica’s Fade to Black, or Welcome Home Sanatarium.
I bought this album the day it came out and I jammed out just like that .. glad you are enjoying some Metallica
Your reaction the the heavy part was metal as fuck
You felt the power of metal
And YOU BANGED TOUR HEADS!
Keep it up and welcome to the metal family
Just saw this reaction video. Just HAD to become a NEW SUBSCRIBER!
The best reaction of One, you analised the song and enjoy it at the same time!!!! good!!!!!
When they was writing and making this song, they was told about the movie "Johnny Got His Gun' about a World War 1 solder who was wounded in battle. The end up buying the rights to the movie so they could use it for the video. If you guys get a chance to watch it do it.
Ya popped up on my shit. You started by saying, I Don't Know This, And I'm having a drink.... Well, I'm cracking a Michelob and checking you out... Love this tune cuz of the lyrics. A sad story that is too real to many people who have been thru war. About a man who loses all his limbs and senses and wants to die. The video shows you clips from the movie "When Johnny Got His Gun". The song is based on that film. Peace!! Cheers!!!
You done stepped in it now. The Metallica Army is about to blow this video up with requests lol. Great reactions.
Lmao I think I just fell in love with this channel and u guys xD
Love you guys..GREAT REACTIONS..TY..ROCK ON✌💜🎤
So this video is based on a book called "Johnny's Got His Gun". It's about WW1 soldier who loses his arms, legs and face to a grenade. It's a great book. Check it out, it's super powerful. Love watching you guys. Good vibes baby, good vibes!❤
The light from Jai's hair is still traveling through space.
I remember beating this song on guitar hero on expert and being completely out of breathe... Couldn't believe what the whole crew feel like playing for hours at a time. METALLICA is real! Enjoy!
Her smile is blinding.. so happy!
Man...y'all are cool as hell! I'm glad I subscribed to your channel. I saw Metallica in concert! Back in the day! Man...my ears rang for a week! Lol. This Bama man will always ROCK ON!! I enjoyed y'all's Reaction! So much! AWESOME JOB!! 😊😊❤💜💯💯💯👍👍🤜🤛
The lyrics in this song were inspired by a an anti-war book called
"Johnny got his gun". The footage in the video is from a movie adapted from the book.
I’ve been binging y’all since last night. I know now the journey you two have been on since y’all made this one. I’m praying for you both because I know waking up is a blessing but it’s a battle. 🙏🏻🩵✌🏻🎶
Wherever i may roam ...Metallica
I once read an interview which Metallica delivered on the topic of this particular song.
Given the song's subject, the anguish of a quadruple amputee soldier deprived of his senses of hearing and sight as well as his ability to speak, band members talked to combat veterans about their experience. What they heard over and over again, was that war was composed of long periods of tension and boredom, punctuated with short periods of unimaginable violence and abject terror.
So, when they wrote the music, they tried to mimic that pattern. Thus, there are long periods during which the melody is quite slow, with percussion adding the tension. The listener feels like the song should be picking up, but the slow tension continues, adding to the anxiety. Finally, as the lyrics describe what happened to the soldier, the tempo and volume pick up. The guitars, vocals and drums get louder, faster and, well, violent. That tempo and volume continue through the soldier's description of his anger, frustration, and despair.
At its core, the song is intensely anti-war.
I loved hip hop growing up. I still enjoy hip hop but now I listen to metal rock dance basically everything
I remember back in like 6th or 7th grade I had to present a poem that I liked. I read the corus to the class to stunned silence and got a A for it. Who would have known I'd get my own purple heart at 26 years old.
I would absolutely love to be there if you both saw Metallica perform this live. It would be epic!
The guitar and drums are SICK in this song. Definitely one of their best.
If you like this watch this live in concert and see the crazy stage light show! You will feel the tru essence of this very POWERFUL. Metallica has always been my favorite METAL band and they are the KINGS of transitions in the songs! Awesome musicians!
Great react. The song is not necessarily about war but about the reality of a person who has no legs, arms, sight, smell, hearing. A true trapped consciousness in limbo.
Beautyfull and such a sad song and intense in "one" ...love how you 2 are enjoying it...👌💯💪
