Hi everyone! I hope you enjoy this little alternative to the standard chaining up when you start a new skein or color. I find it comes in handy when i want the stitches to look more consistent. Paired with an invisible join, it's next to impossible to see where a row/round begins and ends!
This is a very well made video--excellent pacing and very clear and easy to follow. I've been watching a lot of beginner videos on different channels the past few days as I'm learning crochet. I stumbled onto this video and am surprised you don't have more views. I appreciate that your videos stay in focus pretty much the whole time. A lot of other videos, even though the content is good, are difficult to watch for long because they're in and out of focus. I would have very much enjoyed a beginner's playlist on your channel when I first started learning.
Love the alternative standing stitches! I’ll have to try them. I get somewhat frustrated with the chains at the beginning of the rows. Thank you for sharing! ❤️🙏🏻💜
It's always the beginning and ending of a round when changing colors that are troublesome. After this video and another one of yours, I now feel more confident. 😊
@PlayHookywithMe I watched another one of your videos and I PARTIALLY did what you do at the end of a round. I slipped stitch back into the first stitch, cut the yarn and drew up the yarn, but didn't really know how to cleanly finish the round. Now I know to bring the tail end into the first stitch through the back of the first stitch, then being the tail through the back loop of the last stitch. Between that info and this one, I'm READY TO TACKKE the rest of my granny squares for the bedspread I'm working on!
@PlayHookywithMe Meant to say, bring the tail end of the LAST stitch into the first stitch from the back etc. I'm probably not saying this properly, but I DO get it!
I Enjoy your lesson it was very very good I learned a new way to join yarn, i learned how to join in many different ways with you is better, thank you More success and God bless thank you keep teaching that is so kind of you
Great video!! I just started to use the standing stitch. But, the issue I have is where to determine where to insert my hook in the standing stitch when the the round is finished. Could you please film video showing how to finish round ? Thank you.
You should be able to easily finish your round as normal right in the top of that initial standing stitch . But if you’re finding it too hard to get into , you could always slip stitch (finish) into the second stitch (the one you did after the standing stitch ) but just make sure that it’s matching the stitch count you need for that round . 💕

Thank you so much for this. I just bought a granny square book and some of them mentioned a standing stitch join and I'd never heard of it. 😊
It sounds so complicated, right? 😆But it’s easy peasy. Glad the video helped, happy new year! 🎊 💕
