I bought a wrecked Lamborghini Revuelto but ever since owning the car and rebuilding it ive never been able to start it. Lamborghini says it needs a new hybrid battery once the cars been in a accident but cant guarantee that will work so ive got to find a way of getting this car started myself.

Matt, I’m a 64 year old surgeon who used to tinker with cars.
What you are doing with your projects is not just fixing cars. You are teaching many young people the value of hard work and staying positive.
In my line of work, failure is not an option. When operating if something goes wrong you HAVE TO FIND A SOLUTION or you might lose a life. That’s what drew me to your videos. Your can do attitude and not giving up until problem is solved.
Keep it up son. You are on a righteous path.

@@ddogg6317he is right. U got no idea how quick ppl can die at surgery
Well done guys! The 3 recorded motor faults are almost certainly pointing to a fault with the CAN communications with the inverters (connected to each of the motor). Each ignition cycle is clearing the inverter faults on the new cycle, and the fault is returning quickly, but giving you a few seconds of motor control before the vehicle supervisor says 'enough now'. Check the inverter grounds (particularly near where any damage occurred to the car), and get and oscilloscope on the CAN High and CAN Low lines. CAN high should go between 2.5V and 3.75V as a square wave. CAN low should go from 2.5V down to 1.25V. CAN wires will almost certainly be a twisted pair. If there is a problem with the signals, look at all the connections. You might try disconnecting the low voltage connector to one inverter at a time, then see if you can clear the faults on the other two, and see if the faults on those two stay away. Happy hunting, you're almost there!
with all of the power off, and car shut down, you should be able to measure a resistance of near to 120Ohms between CAN High and CAN Low
This should have all the upvotes
If you've installed a new battery in your Lamborghini Revuelto and it still won't start - especially after a crash shutoff fault - the problem likely isn't with the 12V battery alone. Here’s a focused breakdown of what could still be wrong:
---
1. Crash Safety System Still Active
Even with a new battery, if the crash shutoff hasn't been cleared properly, the car won’t allow startup. The safety system may still be:
Disabling the fuel pump or high-voltage hybrid system
Locking the starter relay or ECU
Fix:
You’ll need to connect a diagnostic tool that supports Lamborghini and clear/reset the crash event.
Some Lamborghini systems require an authenticated tool (like ODIS or LARA), which only dealerships or specialists have.
---
2. High-Voltage System Lockout (Hybrid Lockdown)
Since the Revuelto is a plug-in hybrid, after a crash:
The car disables its high-voltage system (HV battery + motors).
Even with a perfect 12V battery, no start will occur if the HV side is shut down.
Fix:
Only a qualified technician can safely re-engage the HV system.
There are safety interlocks and fuses that may need to be inspected/replaced.
---
3. Other Potential Issues to Check
12V Battery Terminal Sensors: Some Lamborghinis have battery monitoring sensors - if not properly reconnected, the ECU may still block startup.
Airbag Control Module Lock: If airbags deployed, the control unit might prevent ignition until reset or replaced.
ECU or Immobilizer Lockout: Crash events can trip the immobilizer or ECU protections.
---
What You Should Do Next
Use a professional diagnostic scan tool (OBD2 is not enough - Lamborghini-specific tools are needed).
Look for and clear any crash data, airbag deployment logs, HV interlock errors, or immobilizer faults.
If you don’t have access to this equipment, a Lamborghini-certified repair center must clear these errors.
---
If you can give me any error messages, dashboard lights, or a scan report (even a photo), I can help analyze the codes. Want to go that route?
My dad is working at lambo so try this matt good luck bro✝️🙏🙏

I think what’s stopping the car from moving might be a safety feature that VW has started adding to their newer vehicles. The seatbelt needs to be fastened before you try to put the car into gear, otherwise, if you try to drive without it, the handbrake will automatically engage and the gearbox will shift into Park.
It’s a small thing, but definitely worth checking out!

This is why right to repair matters due to the fact that not being able to replace just one part that should be replaceable just because Lamborghini doesn't want you to.
Isn't that against EU laws? Like Apple got told by court that they have to allow shops to repair their stuff. I mean on the other hand it's in the UK, but the ones that are sold in the EU have to be the same.
@@timbraska6750 John Deere also

@@ifjimre these are sold internationally though. Matts problem would be a problem anywhere
@@timbraska6750right to repair is EU only and doesn’t start until July 2026
Also if you read the legislation you’ll see this doesn’t break the rules.
1. It’s modular. So passes rule 1.
2. Spare parts and software UPDATES are available so passes rule 2.
3. Provides access to repair practices which is why Lamborghini went there and were going to ship it to Italy. Passes rule 3
4. Allows the replacement of electric battery which you just watched in this video. Passes rule 4.
Apple were not providing parts. That’s why they got in trouble. Lamborghini do provide parts and pass every rule in the legislation but LEGALLY they don’t have to do any of that in the UK
#1 read the manual - #2 seatbelt has to be on and doors, hood, trunk, all need to be closed - the vehicle knows when it's been put onto a lift and when the battery has been unplugged completely. If you unplug the main EV battery you should have done the same for the 12V battery FIRST. - Why you were able to "trick" it to go - because you did so before the system could check the seat belt - via pre-tensioner seat belt sensor. To reset manually all components - you need to just unplug the main EV Battery AFTER removing + and = cables from the 12V battery - also there are 2 EV safety plugins one is green where you unplugged it the other is in the fuse panel - BOTH need to be unplugged - Otherwise the reset will not occur since there is power going to components and are not draining. let sit for a day - all unplugged with doors open - then when that is done - plug everything back in with the doors SHUT and the key AWAY from the vehicle as to not trigger auto unlock and so on. - It's stupid - it's all bs that shouldn't be a problem - it's your problem - LAMBORGHINI will NOT tell you this is your problem. Maybe it's other things but this is the main thing that is overlooked on many hybrid exotics and regular street EV's and Hybrids. This reset - resets your seatbelt tensioners that were triggered in the accident.
When the 12 V vehicle battery has been disconnected, all
functions of the vehicle electrical system stop operating
(applies in particular for the emergency flashers and electric
seat adjustment).
Observe the additional information in chapter 4 “Access
to the occupants” and chapter 9 “Important additional

@42:50 This is a research and development project for Lamborghini itself. It would be crazy if they would charge their customer for sorting out their lack of knowledge and ability to service the car. Hi Mat! As a mechanic myself I've always enjoyed watching you trying to fix your cars! As for your current problem, you should try bleeding the high voltage coolant system with vacuum as these cars are quite delicate regarding the coolant for the HV. When I worked as a HV technician for Volkswagen, the cars would have a lot of problems if there were not enough coolant in the HV-system. I noticed you only topped up the coolant reservoir, and that wont be enough! Volkswagen has actually made a program on ODIS that bleeds out the HV-system by running the pumps for several minutes, and this has to be done after the vacuum bleeding. I'm not sure you will be able to run the pumps with the scanner you have, but just bleeding the system with vacuum goes a long way! Also, having no coolant in the HV battery is definitely a no-go! Good luck!!
The art of story telling while doing what you love is absolutely fantastic, 5:42 prime example.

One thing I’m noticing about your Lamborghini’s is that they all have unique stories and character behind them. The Gallardo was the first lambo you bought, you crashed it, and rebuilt it because it has a special place in your heart. The Murci was your dream car that you built from scratch (even the engine) with your Dad. And now the Rev. A risk, which acts like a sassy human being literally 😹. A car that started out of nowhere 😭, and a car you know in such a way some technicians don’t even know. THATS CHARACTER, and it’s why I love these cars. They’re so imperfect you can’t help but love them. When the Rev comes back, please keep it. It’s got such a great story.
I have a theory
Your traction control light is still illuminated means there’s still an abs fault. The abs/ wheel speed sensors not working at the front where the Electric motors are. So it won’t allow you do creep or drive because it can’t monitor the electric speed. Because of this I reckon the car starts but I won’t allow you to drive keeping it in a hard limp mode. There’s definitely no communication between the front end and the ecu. Good luck buddy what a journey this is

I was thinking pulling the chip dump the data and use an hex editor or something similar and look at the data either edit to remove the crash data or set it as unlocked
I've done the same process on chips like this for various devices of all kinds over the years
Just keep an original dump of the firmware and flash in the edited version and see what happens

Lamborghini saying that they don’t even have the software to remove crash data is a complete lie. Honestly they’ll do anything so that mr DIY doesn’t get their hands on these and fix them themselves. Every time Matt fixes a car, Lamborghini is like “damn we need to lock that out now” 😂😂😂
I don't know, it may be true. I know for a fact that the last piece of dealership software for the MK7 Golf only got out of beta last year, when the car was already discontinued. I think they just crank out the car as quickly as possible the second its software is out of alpha testing and kinda sorta works, and then figure out the dealership side later, and if the software on the car turns out to be bad and full of bugs, they later do a software update during service or another recall. And that "we'll figure it out later" mindset has bit them in the butt more than once, such as the Phaeton BMS recall, where the lead acid equivalent of this exact battery module turned out to have faulty firmware and no ability to update it, so they ended up having to replace several thousand ECUs under warranty only months after the car came out, because they slowly drained the battery and left customers stranded all over the place.
Honestly i dont doubt is true. They probably have a handful of firmware engineers that have more import priorities than adding a specific function for their maintenance software. When they take this car to italy i would guess they would just fresh out the car's firmware like a brand new one than taking develop time for this or they have a custom way to access with "super user" privileges
@@unmountablebootvolume yeah you could be right. I still think that they withhold a lot of information nowadays because of the amount of DIYers out there. Co part is huge now with people buying and selling cars to put back on the road.
program something to stop working and then delay writing the program to change the y to a n for 3 years, profit
Am so happy for you, everyone was so excited it actually started,I honestly think the lamborghini tech guy "lied" saying it won't it start,he wanted you to have the first start up
How do you guys keep smiling and laughing, you and your Dad are some pedigree!
33:24 Matts reaction when it starts has to go down in history as one of the best reactions ever!! Well done lads, hard work beats talent every time 😂
8:00 how can Lamborghini themselves not know if the computer is either coded or not coded to the battery. seems like to me that they are just saying that to make you buy the whole thing, also every car manufacture should have things already in place before delivering the cars to customers that can remove any error code. instead of trying to come up with solutions after they deliver the car to the public. But that's just my opinion.
As far as I'm concerned they do know. They're not at all trying to be helpful. There really is no incentive for them to encourage the repair or help formulate a solution for this issue. More people might do that instead of buying a new car. Terrible people
@@AlfaUmarMuhammadthey're saying they don't know if it will work if it's not coded. No way are the batteries made completely differently from car to car.
They obviously know how to code a battery to the car, considering they code the batteries to the cars.....
the problem is lamborghini customers have the money to just buy a whole nee car if they crash it instead of fixing the crashed one.
I've watched you since lockdown, and I can't tell you how good your videos make me feel (even that consistent closing 'credits' music. Thank you, Mat. You've gotten me through low times, becoming a parent, re-finding my identity after child and now the good times. I shared every second of enthusiasm and frustration on this one, and I can't wait for it to come to life, properly.
Glad he mentioned Gretta's vision of everyone in the world driving a Lamborghini
🤣🤣🤣
What a range of emotions. I love how dad keeps everyone laughing when we all normally would be crying. What an awesome show Matt!!
I've watched all your vids Mat multiple times and I hands down think this moment when the engine starts is legit the best moment i've seen to date. The reactions, the joy, the excitement, it had me grinning from ear to ear. For Anyone who's ever said you fake things for views that's bullshit and those reactions prove it. Amazing mate. So chuffed for you. Just hope you get the car 100% soon bud. Great work
33:22 best moment!!!! hahaha I got so happy for you!!
33:24 that reaction is honestly incredible, I genuinely thought it still wasn’t going to start.
Aaaa yooooooo I didn’t know mat had it like that 35:37
