I guessed 1981 for the motion controller because I thought that "Le Stick" was the first motion controller without question...also, it used mercury for its motion controls, meaning that you probably shouldn't go out of your way to obtain this particular piece of decaying tech history.
there was a dialup modem for the Atari 2600 in 1983 called Gameline that let you play games with people & download them using dialup. It was more or less the og Gamepass. It quickly was discontinued during the game crash of 1983 but the people in the company came together and created what would become AOL.
I remember the library near me has a touch screen card catalog. Worked well until the screen got Dirty. Was also heat sensitive. This was in the early 80's
There was also online game service for the Intellivison called PlayCable made created by Mattel that was more successful and it was sold through TV cable providers. It lasted from 1979 (test markets, full launch in 1981)-1984
For a while now this channel and the regular one just became dunk on Austin for some reason xD... I mean it was always there but now its the only content hahaha
First Online Job was invented in the like 1700 or so in Sri Lanka. It's called "Toddy Tapping". Toddy tappers collect sweet Nectar from the Coconut tree, the Coconut tree is a tall tree without any branches so when you collect nectar from a few doesn't of trees it's so hard to climb one by one. So the Toddy tappers lay two lines between coconut trees (like 5ft apart), One for the foot & Other for to hang on so they can claim to one tree & going to other trees with the lines & finally he was done collecting he can climb down from the last tree on the edge of the property. So they are the inventor of "On-Line Jobs" 😜
1st video I've disliked in years. Phrasing questions to trick them is fine. But asking them "when was the 1st online game" and then list things that were decades before the internet.
i was wondering where was the first ever documented scam. it was in dilmun (bahrain) and the artifact was "acquired" from Ur (city in iraq).....but instead of it being today in the museum of bahrain they even have a whole floor just for the dilmun era or in iraq (i don't know if they even have museum after iraq war)............somehow its in the UK.
i beg to differ the first online game was a lil girl who found out you can braid a with a string and another piece of string. to create a rope. what is a rope? a line? where am i? on a line. see old english is good
idunno if this is an inside joke or whatever, but i do not like how Matt is just giving himself points and rigging these competitions so that he can win, I don't like it, it's unfair, and it kind of turns me away from actually subscribing to this channel.
The winner of This Is... the viewers. Thanks guys for another entertaining and informative show.

When was the first chatroom? Aim? Reddit? 4chan?? NO! 11th century coffee houses!
Quick somebody Photoshop Austin’s face onto a foot. Lol
You guys should do a episode on the Nintendo Super Scope
If I recall, le stick actually contains a vial of mercury for some reason or another, and are potentially hazardous to handle.
I had a le stick which I used on the commodore 64 and it was great for track and field game on it
I don’t know if Austin really understands the core concept of “inflation” ahahaha wicked example of a deflation though
Grandpa austin is looking really realistic
the first computer game made specifically for the mouse was in 1984 that'd technically be a motion controller
The point thing pisses me off so much.
Does he have to shout so much?😂
Before I liked, there was a perfect 555 likes, but I have broken the cycle.
*Original Touch ID was Babylonian*
I didn’t know Gilgamesh sponsored this video.

They should've had there actually be a prize that they both wanted, would make these more interesting. Even if it was like $500 or something

1st video I've disliked in years. Phrasing questions to trick them is fine. But asking them "when was the 1st online game" and then list things that were decades before the internet.
I felt the same way. Might as well just go 100 years plus before the most logical era. Dumb questions.
Technically, all fingerprints are digital.
pm seymore remembers the copper
Matt wins
