Another excellent release CMDR and, although I've done some 3,000 hours on Elite, there are still many gems of information in your videos. As an example I didn't realise that Class 1 and 2 Rails have different charge-up times, or that the piercing values on Rails cannot really be improved with a mod. I do appreciate the review time you must spend ensuring the accuracy of detail, so many thanks again for these media classics. o7
Really really kind of you to say, Malcolm! It means a lot that you take the time to say such kind words. More in the works my friend - and it's because of you! o7
Came here from sidewinder slaughter last night, love these videos. Very well done and even though I've been playing for years I've been learning new things with ever video. Keep it up!
Very informative and extremely well done. Anyone playing Elite Dangerous and interested in railguns or plasma weapons, this is your reference manual. A++
Nice vids! Haven't seen anything this in-depth since Kornilius gave up on ED. Are you going to do your 'favorite builds' series? That would be great! :)
I think you maybe mistaken about the increased piercing effects for rails and PAs. I believe the piercing value works both sides of a ships armor hardness like resistances. Example 75 hardness is hit by 50 piercing so 1/3 of the damage is reduced (15 - 5 = 10) but if 75 hardness is hit by 100 piercing, than 1/3 damage is added (15 + 5 = 20). So a significantly higher piercing value over armor hardness gives you a massive damage increase over your base damage hit. I don’t know this to be 100% true but it was explained that way to me by several seasoned pvpers a few years ago. Also I have a Python with three class 3 focused PAs and all three at once will chunk 35-40% hull from a NPC Corvette or Cutter.
Why would they include an increase to armour piercing for focused if the standard AP is already higher than any human ship armour hardness in the game?
@@PetesCreativeRecycling Pete! You're one of my favorites, I have to say. Ha! You were the guy I was worried about most, when I finally had time to produce again! Thanks my friend! o7
Amazing and helpful video but to anyone reading this i woul recommend against high capacity upgrade for railguns because of the ratw of fire increase. It reduces the charge up time which sounds good but if you are used to normal railguns like i was it was very wierd with them firing earlier than i expected
I certainly intend to do a special episode covering each of the powerplay modules, yep! Still unsure of the format, but I've already done quite a bit of testing and research on all of them, and found some surprising results - so it's definitely going to happen! Not sure when, but if you've got a specific interest or question, hit me up on Twitter my friend - always happy to talk shop!

@@FlintlockEngineering Allright. So there is no way knowing the Kenetic, Thermal, and explosive resistance of said Thargoids then. Guess it does not matter much anyway, since you always have to exert their Hearts, and there is no other way of defeating them..

Extremely high praise, very appreciated my friend!
These are really helpful. I need more help understanding this game. Please keep up the good content
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement my friend!
Love the Long Range, plasma slug. The shot speed makes hitting targets easier.
Also love my CG double engineered rail gun.
Long range and extra ammo with feedback. The reloads and the charge up time is decreased.

Awesome vid. Subbed

Only for these weapons. Focused would be useful for certain builds in other weapons.
So many years playing elite. And somehow I was able to learn new things and rethink old ones.
Was a comprehensive review
So for those of us who are awful at target leading should we use long range on a plasma accelerator to shoot at short/medium ranges?

Sounds to me like using a ship that is very fast and doesn't handle well would be amazing with the long range mod.
Time to build a Mamba!
Long range rails are very potent - negating their drop off, and sniping modules are such a satisfying (and easier than it should be) past time!
Hooray!!!

They work great for both! Their extremely popular for pvp though, because of that absolute damage

No, the increase in piercing will not increase damage done to thargoids simply from the piercing value. A good question though!
