I’m no separatist but Alex Salmond was a phenomenal politician who was head and shoulders above Sturgeon (and worlds above any other SNP minister), particularly in the areas of strategy and operating competence. I think he was driven entirely by what he thought was best for Scotland (independence), whereas Sturgeon was ultimately more driven by the importance of her public image and holding onto power than she was by the goal of independence.
I remember listening to Sturgeon discussing why she went to the UK court concerning Scotlands right to decide Ona referendum. It was so ill advised and her reasoning made no sense at all to me. Roll Ona few weeks and Alex is discussing the same thing and the difference in quality of mind was so obvious. Alex thinking was so far ahead of hers and obvious for all to see. This programme surely should have been shown after his funeral so I look forward to watching it at a more appropriate time.
I still find the vacuous better together mantra very tiresome. "Better together as one country" We in Scotland are one country! The UKoGB&NI is a political state. I expect politicians, even in the so called pretendy parliament to understand the distinction between country and state.
Flat out incorrect. The UK is a nation, a country, as recognised by the UN. The 4 countries that make up the UK aren’t recognised by the UN as sovereign states in their own right, but as countries that form part of the UK.

Can’t get a dentist for love nor money! He never put a single extra pound in my pocket. I know who filled thier pockets from Scottish Givernmemt contracts though. Those Stalin comments from the audience member sounds about perfect.
Condolences to his family , he wasn’t my guy however I often wonder if he had accepted the Democratic will of the Scottish people who said NO and taken that forward for the good of Scotland he might just might have brought the division back and become a force for ALL of Scotland. Alas we will never ever find out

Alex did a lot for the good of Scotland. It’s ironic then that the same Scottish state tried to destroy him, with his former party at the forefront.
