@jonathanfreeman4607 The sovereignty of God...yes. However, "The Doctrines of Grace" come from Augustine & Calvin's man-made uninspired contrivings. "Individuals are born doomed from the womb to a certain death and are to glorify Him (God) by their destruction" - John Calvin Compare to Luke 9:56 (vs 55 in ESV), John 3:17, John 12:47, 2 Corinthians 5:18-19, Romans 5:18, Titus 2:11, Hebrews 2:9, 1 John 2:2 (to name but a few that contradict John Calvin-ism) Surely you believe God is sovereign enough to articulate & preserve His words? Stating that the mission & purpose of God sending His Son was/is to redeem EVERYONE from the sting of death caused by sin & not just a pre-chosen elect few? That would give 👿 more souls after his hoodwink-bamboozle in the Garden.
What did he preach here that's unbiblical? It's all written in the Scriptures. As far as Calvin goes he didn't promote or invent calvinism. That term wasn't thrown around until around 15 years after his death. What he did do was spend his life studying the word. He did his best to articulate the doctrine of election, predestination and free will. It's clear that election is biblical. To this day we haven't figured out how our free will truly works. God chooses us first. No one freely chooses God without spiritual regeneration. The Bible is clear. God may not interfere with your choice but he knows what you will choose which is why the names are written in the book of life before the foundation of the world. Have a blessed day.
@jasonhouser3696 Unfortunately, it appears you too have been indoctrinated into Calvinism. Calvinist Pastors & theologians: "Man is so totally depraved he can't & won't seek God he is unwilling & incapable" Scripture: You were born when & where you were born to seek God (Acts 17:26-31) Jesus "ask, seek & knock" (doesn't read: I will MAKE the elect ask, seek & knock) Jesus "Blessed are they who hunger thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled" No one/zero persons in scripture are Irresistibly Regenerated... not even Paul (see Acts 26:19) Also, in my decades of leading people out of Calvinism & towards scripture, I am most certain that you don't understand biblical election & biblical predestination. They are very not some Gnostic revelations from Calvin. They are very easily & comprehensively understood. Calvinists are no different than those who believe "Speaking in tongues is THE evidence of one's salvation...looky, looky I have a couple of passages that I'm just sure teach that"
Will follow JM as long as he follows Jesus Christ, the most sound pastor in our generation absolutely called by God ✝️
