Seeing games like CoD on the Wii reminds me why I love older hardware. It's cool to see that to this day, not only do people still play BO1 in general, but even cooler to see it on the Wii, which was probably it's least popular platform.

I wasted my 30's playing free for all on Black Ops Wii, and I was damn good at it. Playing the game on any other console twiddling analog sticks felt so restrictive.
The Wii Remote pointer controls is definitely where it’s at! It feels much better then sticks to aim with, you made the right choice spending your 30’s playing this 😎
So nostalgic. Used to play when I was a kid shame its down now. I think it was one of the only online wii games that actually had messaging with voice chat. Cant really remember any names though except someone called gamerguy 😆

Hacked away? I don’t really understand what you mean by that. If you mean shut down, no. The game is still playable for the most part. Login authentication servers broke in 2020 so you do need to use homebrew to bypass it. But other then that everything is still official

Yep, unfortunately CoD Wii games have been closed off since August 1st 2023. As silly as it looks, the motion controls was a great way to play the game. I absolutely love it. friend I played this game a lot around the year 2012-2014, the multiplayer of modern warfare III also, conduit, mario kart, super smash bros brawl, and stop counting great games.
They really went all in on developing these ports, it’s really often under appreciated by CoD players because they’re usually too busy making fun of it. But when you do think about it, they are pretty impressive.
Exactly right. We use Gecko Codes to get on. It also requires installing an update WAD file for the game because the update patch for the game was originally hosted on Wii Shop Channel which has shut now

I know this game is old, but this game on the wii is what i grew up on. For the people who dont know about the feel of using the motion controls, it's way better than a regular controller. There were many settings that could make the motion a lot smoother. The reason why people hated the motion control, they weren't used to it. The graphics on the wii sucked, i get it, but it does not mean the motion was a bad idea. If we had motion control on consoles today with this cross-platform gaming, you would hear a lot less that pc has an advantage.
Absolutely, the motion controls is what made these versions what they are. I truly want to see them back in this style. Pointer based aiming made these versions super fun. And I feel like so many people were quick to scoff at that alongside the bad graphics. But it’s all in the charm of the game. And those that got good at it are some of the greatest CoD players I’ve ever played with. I personally prefer MW Reflex, it felt somewhat smoother in that game.
@BirdknivesGameplay I don't remember much on reflex. That was my first cod, but I got it late in the cycle. I got black ops really early on. I want to put out that setting just right. The recoil on guns is more manageable on the wii mote than the classic controller.
The way the weapons twist, rotate and fly around the screen is really cool. And for the Wii, it was done quite well! There are a couple weird side effects but for the most part it works well! It’s like VR before VR really took off and became a thing. You get people that master the Wii Remote aiming to play a VR Shooter and they’ll do great I bet. It’s honestly one of my favourite ways to control a shooter

It honestly does draw comparisons to VR shooter games with how you aim and move the gun around on screen. It’s like a first step into full motion gaming. It’s lovely and people don’t appreciate it much.

Having the aiming be through the pointer on the Wii Mote is what makes the Wii ports so special. The unique aiming style does make for an experience unlike any other version of the game. And I personally really really enjoy it. You can use classic controllers if you want more traditional setups, but that doesn’t do it for me. I like my motion controls 😎
Classic controller was quite powerful for those stick pros. It got quite heavy aim assist from what I remember. But I’ve always been Wii Remote + Nunchuck. It’s a unique experience and it’s made me love motion control shooting

This is due to Spec Ops being restricted to being connected to online as there’s no offline levelling or ranks. It’s all tied to friend codes. You can still play zombies on BO1 offline solo, but unfortunately that’s BO1 zombies and I would rather play anything else than zombies. But if that’s your thing then you can infact play that.

It’s a fun and unique way to play a shooter and offers another layer of depth to the sandbox. Graphics shouldn’t matter, the gameplay is key and this version does it well. The codes we use completely bypass the login checks. The reason is that the login authentication servers are down. So we need to bypass them in order to play online. The official game servers are still up as of now. Activision hosts the game servers
I was pretty alright on Wii Remote + Nunchuck, but since the servers went down last year (August 1st 2023). I’ve been playing way more controller, I’m quite bad on the sticks. Not quite in the same league 😅.
I highly recommend Wii Remote + Nunchuck on its own without the zapper. It just looks really clunky. However the the controllers without the zapper are great if you get your control settings down to a fine art. The customisation is great and I highly recommend messin around with it

Servers weren’t shutdown by Activision. They have no association with the closure. Nintendo shut off the login servers. Which were required to pass you onto the game servers. If you can’t contact Nintendo’s login servers, you can’t get to the game servers.
I don’t think the graphics could have been helped too much. Since the game is already pushing the console to it’s limit. Though I do see your point. The DLC could have been possible? There’s certainly a good amount of complication there. There are some left over DLC assets in the game files though sadly no maps were released. It certainly would have been awesome to see it though! The Wii was capable of DLC since games like Animal Crossing and Just Dance had them. CoD did have update patches too. But full DLC never came to be
@@BirdknivesGameplay I actually don’t think the graphics look that terrible, especially for a 7th gen game being ported onto what is essentially souped-up 6th gen hardware. They did the best they could to bring these games to the Wii. My biggest complaint with them is the DRM needed to access Combat Training (in Black Ops) or Survival (in MW3). And the fact that they cut out a lot of content. Perhaps that trims the fat a little? Difficult to say for sure.
cod on the wii looks sooo much worse than i remember it, maybe it just looked slightly better on an older tv but this is like 50% worse than i remember

Wiimmfi disc patcher patches the gecko codes stuff that we use. It’s the same servers. And it doesn’t redirect to Wiimmfi atall. Official game servers are still online. All these patches do is bypass Nintendos broken login authentication which went down in 2020.
Which is what I’m surprised about. Activision still actively hosts the servers for these games. Nintendo just did their regular login authentication stuff which went down in 2020 meaning games returned 23400 when trying to connect. I’m just shocked that they’re still hosting the Wii servers since officially you just can’t play and haven’t been able to for 3 years now. But I’m glad they’re still up for the time being. We have the gecko patches for these games to save us
Nintendo WiFi Connection was, however the CoD games run off of their own servers. In 2020 Nintendo’s login authentication servers went down for the Wii meaning the Wii CoDs broke. We use homebrew to get online now

Game servers for Wii CoD specifically aren’t shutdown. However all of Nintendo’s ones are. Nintendo hosted the login authentication servers and since they are down now. It’s impossible to login without homebrew
The entire online aspect of the game is playable still as only the login servers are down. Activision still owns the game servers. We use homebrew to get online nowadays. As for tutorials. You can join our CoDNintendo discord server and get help for getting back online if you wish. Link is in the description

6:30 there's a glitch spot in that room where you jump on the bed then in the corner and there's an invisible ledge where you can hide from dogs lol or players

Imo the pointer in MW Reflex feels the best. however generally yeah the controls are much improved. Fully customisable buttons really makes it good

@@BirdknivesGameplay I actually don’t think the graphics look that terrible, especially for a 7th gen game being ported onto what is essentially souped-up 6th gen hardware. They did the best they could to bring these games to the Wii. My biggest complaint with them is the DRM needed to access Combat Training (in Black Ops) or Survival (in MW3). And the fact that they cut out a lot of content. Perhaps that trims the fat a little? Difficult to say for sure.

@@BirdknivesGameplay Thanks man. I think I’ve got it figured out. I used wiimmfi patcher and it seemed to work. Do you know if those are the same servers as the Gecko Codes?

Wiimmfi disc patcher patches the gecko codes stuff that we use. It’s the same servers. And it doesn’t redirect to Wiimmfi atall. Official game servers are still online. All these patches do is bypass Nintendos broken login authentication which went down in 2020.

Which is what I’m surprised about. Activision still actively hosts the servers for these games. Nintendo just did their regular login authentication stuff which went down in 2020 meaning games returned 23400 when trying to connect. I’m just shocked that they’re still hosting the Wii servers since officially you just can’t play and haven’t been able to for 3 years now. But I’m glad they’re still up for the time being. We have the gecko patches for these games to save us

Nintendo WiFi Connection was, however the CoD games run off of their own servers. In 2020 Nintendo’s login authentication servers went down for the Wii meaning the Wii CoDs broke. We use homebrew to get online now

@@simone8481 Pretty much everyone that plays is within a discord server. Since the game needs homebrew to get online now it’s pretty dead. We use a discord server to get people to play since random matchmaking just isn’t viable.

Game servers for Wii CoD specifically aren’t shutdown. However all of Nintendo’s ones are. Nintendo hosted the login authentication servers and since they are down now. It’s impossible to login without homebrew

The entire online aspect of the game is playable still as only the login servers are down. Activision still owns the game servers. We use homebrew to get online nowadays. As for tutorials. You can join our CoDNintendo discord server and get help for getting back online if you wish. Link is in the description

While technically yes. Is it more fun on PS3? Personally no for me. The motion controls make this a more interesting and fun experience for me. It’s what makes me stick around the Nintendo versions

@noaharkadedelgado as of now, no bypasses or anything is known. The ones we used to use no longer work due to the login servers (Nintendo hosted) being shut down.

I usually just jump on the bed and leave it at that for the dogs. And you should totally stop by and play sometime! We have an event on this Friday for BO1 if you’re interested!
