    Broccoli and cabbage leaves also make a great fertilizer. Chop them up and add them to water inside an inner pail w holes w an outer pail no holes. Cover (fertilizer smells) and let it ferment for 2-6 weeks. Pull out the inner pail the water color will be very dark and stinky. Dilute 1-8/10 and put on plants. It works great! Thanks for all the tips. 😁

    I really like where you are going with this. I think this advice applies to most viewers. I don't know know how big the market is for targeted advice but I live near Seattle. Temperature is a thing but sunlight and rain is a really big deal. We have so many overcast days. We have so many rainy days. Even though we live in an area that only freezes occasionally, much of the available advice about timing seems off to me. I kinda feel like I am on an island in some ways.

    Ok, so I know in the 3 sisters system. You plant your squash, your corn, and your beans all together. So my question is.
    Can you plant say radishes, spinach, or small growth plants underneath taller growing plants? Like you're tomatoes, or peppers, or any other tall plants. To help maintain good soil.

    • @emkn1479
      @emkn1479 3 месяца назад +2

      From what I hear, yes, defintely. Especially crops like lettuce that might appreciate shade and the microclimate under tomatoes. Beets too, especially since you don’t really mess with them til they’re mature.

    • @vae884
      @vae884 3 месяца назад +1

      You may think that, but the radishes end up as a trap crop and you get no radishes :(

    Any recommendation for an organic fertilizer that doesn’t have a strong smell? We get raccoons that like to dig everything up, hunting for the source of the smell. Very destructive and it compromises some crops.

    I like to use the broccoli leaves like you would cabbage leaves for stuffed cabbage rolls. Only instead of hamburger and rice mixture, a shredded chicken and either stuffing or rice and chopped broccoli inside, topped with a Hollandaise sauce. Or another alternative stuffing could be chicken, wild rice, portabella mushrooms and spinach, also topped with a Hollandaise sauce.
