Firstly, i don't think immortals fenyx rising is THAT blatant. It's definitely unoriginal but they didn't copy designs from my understanding (i just found it unbelievably boring so i'll continue to poke fun at it)
I don't think using other game mechanics should be considered "copying". For those who don't know, Pokemon was inpsired by both Dragonquest and possibly SMT Persona. Difference here though is the designs are vastly different.
I genuinley love palworld and I'm actively avoiding playing it cause it feels like I'd get addicted to it real fast lol. I really do think it's a good thing for the Pokemon franchise as a whole and while it's cool for the Palworld devs to achieve such success, my nerdy ass is just hoping this makes future pokemon games better.
As for the copied pokemon designs...that I don't like at all. I don't really care who is copying from who - I just don't like people using other peoples designs like that (and if you can't tell, I'm not the biggest fan of AI for art either lol). I seriously think the game would've succeeded just as well if they made completely original pals. Alas, let's hope Nintendo's legal assassins don't go too hard here cause there are way too many people that are loving palworld right now and it would be a shame to have anything happen to the game

Look I like Pokémon but you know what? I love palworld as well and Digimon and monster rancher. There is only so many cutesy, ,elemental, animal designs you can do before stuff start looking the same.

i agree with you. blatantly stealing designs is just disgusting. and all the silly people saying "lmao you can't patent an animal" bro. the style is so obviously just taken from Pokemon, it's not only the designs - it's the whole fucking artistic style. the issue isn't that they have "similar ideas" to pokemon, it's that they're literally stealing existing designs.
Palworld isn't even Pokemon's first competition. Everyone talks about Digimon but there is also Monster Rancher that's a very underrated franchise

There are over 1000, palworld realistically and literally only have 2 that can be seen as copies and the the green bunny and the luxray clone. THATS IT. Not at all enough to make any type of argument. People comparing Anubis to lucario, yea because everyone knows nintendo created dog thing standing on 2 feet, it never existed until nintendo did it. Never. The Egyptians that carved those pictures thousands of years ago they obviously stole Nintendo’s designs.

@@DZC-bc2olit won't beat both franchises in the long run, they would compete with one of the best games of their generas, in pokemon's case it would be comparing with decades old series, its just an early popularity boost like games like among us or fall guys had, it will survive and hold on rather strong, but won't be a game that will beat these colloses of franchises
The copying of Pokémon designs was really clearly basically a marketing strategy that caused a whole drama for popularity, and it worked

Might as well be with how starved like a hyena frustrated Pokémon fans are, they really want a change and touch up to the formula, they had it with Legends: Arceus but they'll never do it ever again, a shame, unless...? Please actually make the game for Teenage audiences so we can actually make Pokémon a menace to medieval society, like Palworld's legendary battles are freaking hype! Pokémon? I haven't been this excited since I was 10 or 11 during the Unova days since Gen 5 was my first, Zekrom and Reshiram was LIT as hell, Palworld gave me that feeling again, Legends: Arceus was very close, but it needed a bit more thrill and danger to it.
It's mostly due to the result of some pokemon fans acting like it's the coming of satan. People are defending the game just as hard as the ones bashing it. If those Pokemon fans just shut up about it, no one would need to defend it either.

I've played both, and they're quite different. Palworld has proven themselves enough to not get sued by the Pokémon company.

As someone, who played both I completly agree with every single point
I feel like a lot of people have been conditioned from childhood to recognize pokemon. I mean the TV show literally had a social conditioning intermission mid episode to see if you could tell the outline of a pokemon. If you get outside of that thought process and look at the game on its own, you'd be better off.
Yes that’s the problem, we all played, “Who’s that Pokémon,” as kids and now we’re all RPG-loving fascists.. social conditioning? Come on.

Yeah, there's a few suspect designs, I can call something similar when I see it, but there are some designs being claimed to be plagiarism that are... Round sheep thing is too similar to Wooloo, any kind of plant dinosaur is a 1:1 copy of Meganium... A hooved animal with horns is BLUE? No, too similar to Cobalion.
The most valid comparisons I've seen are the one that looks suspiciously like Luxray, and one that kinda looks like GMax Eevee but tiny
The issues are being FAR overblown by a very toxic part of the fandom and I hate it, people can just... Like their own game, it doesn't even have the same gameplay genre

it’s not a copy but it lacks creativity that’s required for a game the entire reason it’s popular is because it’s pokemon with guns and you can enslave them but also i have played before and im pretty far in and i keep calling pals pokemon for how similar they are. like everything about pal world is good besides the models and the designs of the pals and the company has been in some things like this before but the dev even stated that he would not focus on creativity to bring an experience for everyone.
As someone who played both i also agree with your opinions , the thing that look the same is the design when i’m playing palworld i rarely memorize the name i usually said pokemon names because they quite resemble the design of pokemon for example incineram ( i looked up google before making this comment by searching palworld houndoom) and ofc i called it houndoom because it looks like a houndoom that is standing lol. But overall palworld is good the cons is some minor bug, ability to move objects in base and ofc the pal design some are quite lazy to be frank like relaxaurus and some pal look like straight up pokemon (and i can assure some of you ,if you played pokemon from gen 1 you can see the similarities or where they get the idea from) but aside from that i’m happy for the game success and i hope gamefreak might release some better gameplay in their next installment.
Also one thing i wanna add i also played DQ series especially the monster series like DQM joker 1 and 2 also the recent dark prince and ofc the SMT series from SMT 4,5 ,devil survivor,strange journey and persona . What i really wanna say is maybe pokemon might have a few inspiration back in the days from Dragon quest but that’s just a few from gen 1 other than that nothing look the same , as for SMT , it based on angel demons and folklore no way pokemon using those design 😂 idk why people correlates SMT and pokemon.
it's not about gameplay, it's about copied assets from pokemon for the pals. A lot of pals are basically 2 pokemon combined or multiple pokemon assets combined.

I've played both, and enjoyed both until the last few years of Pokemon. Palworld is definitely it's own thing, and the majority of the pals are completely original design
People forget that creature catchers is a genre of games and that doesn't mean its a clone
I bought palworld a few days ago and it's basically Ark with Pokemon instead of dinosaurs. Some of the pals are almost clones of some pokemon. But I mean it's fun I just wish it had about double or triple the amount of pals. After just a couple days I've already found about 1/3 maybe 1/2 the deck.
It’s only the creature designs where Palworld took from Pokémon. There is no question
the way I see Palworld, is something that Game freak and Pokémon company as a whole should look at and be inspiration for creating a game which would be the best it possibly could, which I why I think they announced Legends Z-A for a 2025 release giving them time to reduce the amount of bugs in it.
Lies of P is a darksouls clone, yes. Valorant is a CS clone, yes. Palworld is NOT a pokemon clone
I think people saying palworld completely copied pokemon is stupid because with over 1000 pokemon it's hard to make something original without it somewhat looking like a pokemon especially with some badass pokemon designs like luxray and lycanrock being the most I've seen and many games take inspiration from really popular games thats how you get people to play your game its the same with the music and movie industry many of the biggest artists have a similar sound because thats what popular and for most of the movies within the past few years have been around the multiverse because Marvel had they're whole thing about it so other companies wanted to profit off of it

Well this is mostly because a lot of the Pals look TOO SIMILAR to the Pokemon. Like just in the cover we got a zeraora, a shiny lopunny, a cobalion and a raichu along with others. They took TOO MUCH inspiration when it comes to design. It's also worth noting that when you capture the Pals, the ball lights up three times, just like Pokemon. And it's core mechanics also feel somewhat like Ark Evo, not to mention inspirations taken from several others games. Sure it's not very original but we love it because it's got nooks and crannies from every one of our favourite games. It's almost as if every game company collabed together to make a game for every player from every genre

Pokémon wishes it was Palworld…at least when it comes to the latest Pokemon games where they gave no one what they asked for. Like we’ve been asking for a proper breeding system, and or Pokémon fusion for a while now. That’s all I’m saying. Doesn’t seem like Nintendo themselves have had many cool creature ideas for Pokémon in a hot minute.

Palworld is a mix between Ark survival evolved with the survival aspect and Pokémon with the pals aka creatures that can be caught
I think the main problem isn’t with the game mechanics, it’s with the fact that a concerning number of the Pals look like they just took Pokémon models and made *super* minor changes.

The big thing people are forgetting is Nintendo does not own the abstact form of any animals so just because they both have a leaf monkey Nintendo never bought the abstract form of said leaf monkey as an example pallworld is in a state it is not a copy almost a parody but still it's own game with it's own art and creations thats why Nintendo hasn't sued they literally have 0 percent chance between the fact that Nintendo is arguing about abstract design they don't own American ip law will protect pallworld plus Playstation and xbox want to buy the ip anyway and with the millions of players the popularity will also protect them due to Nintendo not wanting bad backlash like when they canceled the smash tournament
I was one who thought it was a pokemon clone. But only pokemon things are capturing and the looks of the pals. Otherwise its not that similar
I do hope Game Freak ups there game. I’ve played the games since Gen 1 and couldn’t get myself to play the Switch versions because of their performance issues (and other changes.) I also hope Pal World continues to learn from their own success and makes changes to better suit their fans. If both change for the better and succeed, then everyone (especially the fans) will be win.
