Being color blind could be useful for the army so long as you can tell the difference between Red and Blue. Wouldn't wanna end up on the wrong team.

You know Caboose is colorblind too? It’s mentioned in Season 15. I guess blue team gets all the colorblind people.
As someone red-green colorblind myself, I can confirm three things:
1. Certain colors will blend together to look like the exact same color
2. It has screwed me over in a few videogames. Sometimes with teamkilling.
3. It weirdly sparks conversations--usually with testing involved
It sparks conversations because people who aren't colorblind literally cannot imagine what that would be like, and vice versa.
It's like saying a Mantis Shrimp can see millions more colors than we can- the reaction's always "Okay... but what does that even mean?"
In Highschool, this one boy was explaining how Jolteon and shiny Jolteon look exactly the same to him because of his colorblindness
all of these things are true. Any time colour blindness is mentioned the next few minutes involve people pointing at things and asking the colour

I have trouble seeing the difference between pink and orange sometimes. Dunno why, I just do. Maybe it’s something with my eyes, maybe I’m just mental. But boy, when I told my friends in junior high this the amount of times I was forced to name the color of a Cheetos bag or strawberry applesauce was almost exhausting.

Not sure how you would measure that, but maybe when you eat some pungent stinky cheese and taste less of it than other people?
@@basstrammel1322 I can taste somethings and other times food will taste bland and so I add spices to the food for more flavor. I'll be with a group of friends and they'll cover their noses and I'm standing their wondering whats wrong and they'll mention how bad a car smells
@@FaithfulAizen Do you find it to be an advantage or a disadvantage? To be honest I find most foods bland too, and salt/pepper it a lot. But I have a normal sense of smelling.
Trevor's story about the Easter eggs is too real for me. My colorblindness is so bad that my optometrist wanted to write a research paper on me.

@Anna Lialine yes, but his original point was that even if colorblindness wasn't a factor, finding green objects outside on the grass is still difficult. So saying the green doesn't necessarily blend in is a valid point in that case.
Fun Fact: even though cuttlefish are colorblind, they can effortlessly blend into their surroundings pretty well, even in complete darkness. Pretty cool, huh?

Thats because its not always a conscious thing they do. Scientists severed the nerve that regulates their camo and found that even when the cuttlefish cant control it, several factors effect their pigmentation such as light levels, temperature and sound as well as currents

For me I was in my psychology class and we were looking at the dot test. I couldn't see the number at all, but was to shy to say in class. I then ignored it for a few years until I took an art class and realized I was slightly colored blind. The teacher got so frustrated as I said it was red and she said it was pink.
Was it by any chance lightish red?

The fact his parents were in denial about him being colorblind and essentially made that his problem is pretty saddening.
It's not that they were in denial they just didn't realize it, still saddening but using denial makes it sound like it was their fault

What makes it worse is the fact that in spite of those signs they made fun of him for it anyways.
If you're child is showing obvious signs like that its pretty good indicator something is wrong.

Pretty sure that's not how colorblind works. In fact, I'm near 100% certain that that's not how any form of colorblindness works.
@@cardboardwolfjd789 as far as I'm concerned that makes perfect sense. I mean, certain grays and greens already look similar so if you had a specific colorblindness where they look essentially the same why is it so weird for a kid to just make the wrong assumption?

I still remember the day my friend found out he was colorblind back in kindergarten we were all coloring and presenting our art and he ended up with purple vocano with green lava which got him in trouble until the teacher realized he genuinely thought that was how a volcano looked like

I didnt know I was Red/green color blind "actually called color deficient" until I joined the Army. So yes you can be color blind to certain degree lol

I told my mom I needed glasses for a year and it wasn't until we were at a volleyball match and something funny happened to one of the girls and I was trying to tell her who it happened to and I was squinting cuz I couldn't make out who it was and she told me to just to read the number off of their hersey and I just squinted harder and it was at that moment my mom realized "Oh you need glasses"
Theres no such thing as "just a little bit" color blind.
Meanwhile my left eye is the wrong shape, so the lens is warped in a way that light diffuses and doesn't focus properly. I can't distinguish much detail further than about 10m, and if I use only my left eye I can't see any detail past about 10cm, not even faces.
I'm picking up my corrective glasses tomorrow, though I wonder how that's supposed to fix my actual eyeball/lens problem.
I found out I was colour blind in such a similar way lol I was taking an eye test for my driver's license and completely failed it

I'm partially color blind. It's this fancy term that I forgot what it is but pretty much I did the dots thing and in certain ones I could see numbers but in other I couldn't. Really weird

Found out I'm partially colorblind in school when I was looking at red blood cells. I saw green blood and panicked a bit.
The one bit of this I don’t get is how it didn’t occur to his parents. Given it has such a clear genetic element: his mother’s father also HAD to be Red-Green colourblind (because that’s how it works) so how did it not occur to them that it might be the problem?
I know how red-green colour blindness works - it runs in my family. In order for him to express the gene, his maternal grandfather must be red-green colour blind. That gives him a 50% chance of being red-green colour blind himself. He cannot be red green colour blind without his maternal grandfather also being red0green colour blind, and therefore his mother carrying the gene. That’s why I’m confused.

One time I was in geography and we were looking at a map and green and black look the same to me so I couldn’t tell the differences in some states and got a terrible grade and my mom had to come and say I was color blind.
