Whether you like this SUV or not, you really have to commend Lincoln for innovating and taking steps to differentiate themselves from the multitude of luxury brands today that seem to be chasing each other rather than chasing what's best.
Brian, excellent review as usual. You look slimmer; hope everything is okay. We are all so happy to have you back. Keep being yourself and putting out fantastic content. Please continue to stay in touch with your fans.
My sentiment, exactly. 100K for a 3 ton box on wheels, powered by a small ass overstressed v6 with 2 hair dryers. No thanks. And you wonder why the Escalade is kicking the Navigator's ass. If you're in this category, you're not worried about gas mileage. It's all about presence, prestige, sound and feel. I don't car how much horsepower the Ecoboost makes. When you stand on the loud pedal in an Escalade, all you hear is "POWAAAA". The Ecoboost sounds like a bunch of angry bees.
lightning95sc ain’t nothing more prestigious as a leaky sunroof that all the Escalade/ yukon/ Tahoe/ suburbans have, especially when you pay for the 100k + for the platinum Escalade. With that much reliability issues, better off going with a Range Rover, atleast it’ll have heritage...
from what you said, I would definitely take this over the Cadillac. and I'd even go so far as to say it's the best Lincoln with out adding some kind of derogatory quip afterwards. That's something I haven't been able to say since the LS went out of production. It's not my kind of car, but if I was in the market for one of these luxury trucksters, this would be my pick. also, Lincoln nice job on the interface. very well done.
I really like what they did with this Lincoln. I hate that center screen though, I immediately thought about how I would have to clean the dash behind there over time. But as a former Lincoln dealer porter and having driven all eras of Navigators up to 2012, I too felt the new Escalades were much better refined when I drove them and I am so glad Lincoln had a fresh redesign like this! Makes me wish I still worked there just so I could drive it. I now feel Lincoln has taken the lead over Cadillac with this one! Good job Ford!
James Call it cliché, but as far as build quality goes, the newest was by far my favorite (2007+ style). The one before it felt cheaper in every way. The plastic would creek, the auto folding mirrors would frequently wig out and start folding out beyond center, the drivetrain was jumpy and sometimes unpredictable, and every one of them have a noisy air compressor that can be clearly heard from inside the cabin. That, I do hope they finally fixed with this one because the last gen was a little noisy too. And the first gen (97-02) to me just only seemed like a rebadged expedition of that year. Yes, I know they all technically are, but that generation was really bad with it. Even the third row seat was just as cheaply made and ugly as the Expedition. Though I did drive one with a factory GPS installed in the center console, I thought that was hilariously cute lol. So to answer your question, the 07+ model was my favorite, I could tell Ford was putting in great effort to improve the design and functionality throughout the years, even throughout the lifetime of that generation alone. It was more solid (be it still kinda flimsy compared to Cadillac) and more high tech, more beautiful interior, the driving environment that immersed you in luxury. The first gen didn't do that at all.
Oh that 2006 Expedition is a nice truck! That gen navigator is a somewhat decent truck but honestly I would opt for the Expedition of that era based on my previous description, so good choice on your part there! But the next gen Navigator I do feel was a nice step up from the Expedition in every way. And I can tell from these reviews online that this newest Navigator is really gonna be a treat to drive. Even though I feel the 2007+ Navigator was a step below the Escalade rival, I can see now this new Navigator is gonna blow the new Escalade out of the water unless they do something new quick.
I'm in my late 50's. Lincoln has always been Cadillac's step child. Even in the 70's with the Mark III, it was still Cadillac. But I must say, this Navigator is Boss.
I had a 2005. That thing lowered in value so fast. By 2013 the thing was worth less than 5K. No way you should spend 73-100k for it this. I loved the ride and that's about it. The fuel pump failed twice, replaced 2 air suspensions, a few vacuum leaks from cracking lines, major frame rust damage, 3 spark plugs broke off during the first change. I let her go at 153k miles. Trust me I do not miss the average 10mpg I was getting
I need to win a lottery. BTW, at which grade does it have turning headlights? I assume since these are LED, it would just electronically fire a few sideways reflectors, right?
Something my aunt Vira from Wisconsin would like. Still has that old retiree look. Tesla screen. Jaguar front end. Rover rear end. And no one uses TV screens anymore.
Nice vehicle. Hopefully they do a seamless integrated with the console screen for 2019. Similar layout but just more integrated into the dash like how Porsche did it for the 2018 Porsche Cayenne.
I sold Ford/Lincoln back in 2000/01, the Gen 1 Navigator I feel had better dimensions, and packaging. This looks like an Expedition and an Infiniti went on a date and this is the result of it!
My God, the seats look so comfy and the interiors so inviting :O For what it offers, its excellently priced according to my Indian Mind xD Here in India, cars costing this much get half the tech and aren't as good either. For $98,145 we get the Jeep Wrangler here in India. The Grand Cherokee costs upwards of $160,000 (Rupees 10,339,200)
*Did Lincoln fix that kink and dip in the hood where it meets the cowl and a-pillar?* It's a very noticeable flaw for a vehicle that is otherwise very nice to look at. This problem area I'm pointing out is like a mustache on the Mona Lisa. It could be a deal breaker for some potential buyers... I haven't noticed this problem with the new Expedition or the F-150, where the hood line lines up straight with the cowl and a-pillars... For a great design, one flaw can really stand out, and be hard to ignore.
Can you guys just bring back CNET on Cars
Manpreet Arora as awesome that would be I bet CNET didn't pay him well

Legend L I miss Cooley. Is he in witness protection now or something?
Whether you like this SUV or not, you really have to commend Lincoln for innovating and taking steps to differentiate themselves from the multitude of luxury brands today that seem to be chasing each other rather than chasing what's best.
Samuel Foran Lincoln invented the luxury SUV.
COOLEY hell yea. I've watched your reviews for 10 years. Keep up the good work.
Alexander D. Viramontes Castaneda He's the original car "RUclipsr".

lightning95sc the Escalade isn’t worth $110,000, yes they push up that much. I’ll take this before that unreliable Yukon Denali any day
lightning95sc ain’t nothing more prestigious as a leaky sunroof that all the Escalade/ yukon/ Tahoe/ suburbans have, especially when you pay for the 100k + for the platinum Escalade. With that much reliability issues, better off going with a Range Rover, atleast it’ll have heritage...
Thanks fo coming back, Brian.

Lincoln is back! Never thought I would say that good job ford
This car has the best tech even the rear seat TVs aren't shit.
Omg do you realize how excited I am to hear that damn voice!!!!! Cooley where u been my love. Car reviews are nothing without.
Good car but little expensive !
true, but you do get a lot for it, both figuratively and literally.
Just wait a couple of months and grab a PRE owned low mileage, it would be WAY cheaper
only problem in Chicago is that you see these trucks in the hundreds driven by livery .
the Escalade is even more expensive
Competition cost more and some are smaller
Welcome back. Great review.
YAYYYYY COOLEY IS BACK !!! WE LOVE YOU COOLEY !!!!
A virtual ‘Connected House’ on wheels, that almost requires a mortgage!
Very true and who needs to drive something like this to work or grocery store. This is a little too much.
Thank god Cooley is back!
thank u cooley for coming back!!
thd best auto journalist!!!
So glad it doesn't look like a Ford anymore on the inside. This is a winner!
Daniel Shulman since 2010 Lincoln we’re working alone in nearly everything
No one can review a car like Cooley do. He just don't tolerate bs, well done!
Cooley's a national treasure. Keep it up.
Damn it looks sooo close to the concept!! That’s a good thing in my eyes!
I really like what they did with this Lincoln. I hate that center screen though, I immediately thought about how I would have to clean the dash behind there over time. Which Generation Navigator did you like the best? Like overall from your personal opinion... 97-02? 03-06? 07+?
James Call it cliché, but as far as build quality goes, the newest was by far my favorite (2007+ style). The one before it felt cheaper in every way. Good input! Thank you sir! Have a 2006 Ford Expedition Limited myself and looking to upgrade a little.
Oh that 2006 Expedition is a nice truck! The new 2018 Expedition is looking pretty awesome, I'm considering it myself; Navigator is nice but more than I want to spend. Check it out!
it looks great. i'd love to have one. lincoln is back!
Beautiful!
Cooley could review a toaster and I would still watch it.
Where's the next episode of CNET on cars?
Cooley is why I watch Roadshow. don't ever replace Cooley. Best reviews.
Subscribing specifically cause I like Brian as a presenter. Always gives the short sweet versions of what I wanna know!
Thanks for the reply ! It's still my #1 pick .
Amazing vehicle! 😍😍😍
Cooley yes! Great video!
WoW Im impressed!

What music is played in the beginning and end? It’s beautiful.
Cooley we miss you!
Love this car
Cooley and cars, perfect combo.
Very nice!
Beautiful...
Does anyone know the music used at the beginning and the end of this video?
I'm flawed :o! This is beautiful
Worth every penny...
This thing has one aspect that is kinda badass: it shares an engine with the Raptor.
Graham Clarence
Sadly not the v8
braddyboy82 not exactly your standard truck engine
I bet the paddle shifters even work
Sam Lung sadly it isn’t a V8, but a quieter, more fuel efficient engine might suit a luxury vehicle a bit better.
Thats a sexy suv
You're a sexy SUV...
Are you on drugs. This thing is hideous
Nice review
holy crap.....its cooley!
I just watched because of mr.cooley there .....i know i can't afford this car 🚗 😁😁😁
I hate big SUV's but this makes me wanna buy it. Love it.
love it
Hell yeah Cooley
If you’re listening CNET thank you for bringing back Cooley!!
I need to win a lottery. BTW, at which grade does it have turning headlights? I assume since these are LED, it would just electronically fire a few sideways reflectors, right?
Raptor powertrain, continental interior and a beautiful body. Wow.
Just an amazing truck! Awesome powertrain, 3.5 GTDI! Simply the best.
great ride to airport now....yeah
This thing is gorgeous!! Now to call my realtor and short sale my house to buy one.
Love that SUV looks way cooler than the previous models
Best looking vehicle from Lincoln in a long time.
COOOOOOLLLLLEEEEEEYYYYY!!!!!!
That thing is a monster
on sale date?
Let’s all hold hands and say. Cooley for president!!!
If this came to Australia, I would buy it instantly
So pretty 😍😍
Man this SUV looks so good
i saw this truck from far and remind me the big QX 80 INFINITY.
Something my aunt Vira from Wisconsin would like. Still has that old retiree look. Tesla screen. Jaguar front end. Rover rear end. And no one uses TV screens anymore.

Looks like a mini van from the back
COOOOOOLLLEEEYYY!!!!!
This is still so much nicer looking than even the new 2021 Cadillac Escalade which looks like a slightly nicer Tahoe now.
My man Brian Cooley! alright!
Press the third button from the right and the wings come out....and power boosters. BAM! 🔥🔥🔥
If Im ever in the market Ill wait for the 2019 to fix any major problems with the year 1, especially in a luxury brand.
10 speed! wow
I love everything about this SUV except the tailgate which I hate imo. But everything else inside and out is almost perfect👌
Cooley!!!!
Finally we have Mr. Cool back
Look at that it has the power train of the new Raptor. 👍
COOLEEEEEYYYYYY

... Wow, INR10mln for a truck that fails the moose test.
Better just buy a Nano, am i right?
What a remarkable luxury ride! Ford has outdone themselves on this one...all class and tech!
Very nice but I'll still go for the Escalade
Lincoln should've settled this score earlier. What took them so long?
Music?
LWB Black Label 4x4 trim with all options added will push the price over $100k. This is Lincoln’s American answer to German’s Mercedes S class.
Wonder if that screen has sun glare issues ?
There are some issues with the reflection on the display. It's only a matter of time before we see a company offer an anti-glare "screen protector".
Hey did this guy Cooly, leave CNET? I like his reviews!
Good review, Nice Lincoln ;)
I like it better than escalade
To bad can't afford it :(
I'll stick to my 2005 expedition ! ! !
Brian !!!!!!!
3 tons, that's a lot
That weight will save you and your family in a bad wreck with another vehicle.
*Did Lincoln fix that kink and dip in the hood where it meets the cowl and a-pillar?* It's a very noticeable flaw for a vehicle that is otherwise very nice to look at. as a gm *BOI* I'll take the L for escalade, this thing is a beast
let me guess, you gon' tow trailers carrying Camaros with your Navi?
Brian not only appear om Cnet ?
