it's sad no one would have remembered this woman if Google didn't remind us of her.

Right and this is quantum mechanics done by mind, no calculators, architectural back grown. This is what I called pure genius making something out of nothing.

I really believe her presence entered my dreams growing up as a child in the neighborhood next to hers. It was truly a magical time. I have learned more about her over time, ofcourse. I really appreciated her retrospective at the De Young. Some how I hadn't known she was at Black Mountain College...and when I found that photo in the exhibit I was surprised to find myself tearing up. Another surprise, Leo Leoni was in the photo with her... He was at Black Mountain College too! I facilitate art and gardening with very young children & fire their ceramic creations at a studio she helped start. I always recommend people see her collaborative "San Francisco" fountain near Union Square. SCRAP - our "recycled materials for creative use" center has an online event in Nov 2020: Ruth Asawa Through the Eyes of Her Children.

You can see all three artists at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Arkansas: Joseph Albers, Buckminster Fuller and Ruth Asawa. Beautiful mathematical connections to all three artists.
