I wish he would do that. He will give us 5 reasons why he "can't" ride on a track. He always says it's expensive but he spends money on modding the bikes lol. The best investment is in your skill. He just likes going in a straight line or riding in downtown :). I guess we all have our preferences.
🤣 I've been talking about a track day since 2012 and have yet to do one. lol Honestly, the last two years my time has been absorbed in renovating my house, however, I'm finally almost done so I will have free time again. I want to find a tight twisty supermoto hybrid track. As soon as I'm done I'm getting back on the road in my bug out moto van.
So much more fun than supersports/superbikes. You can fricken rip around corners with ease and then go ride over anything and off-road. Any supermoto haters have never rode one.
Facts are a naked bike is best for cruising and commuting and overall riding, but a supermoto is exactly what you want when hooligan fun is the goal. The Mono RVE is the best purchase I've made in years. The grin I have when I ride it, only my Grom comes close to being as much fun.
Nice! No hate on nakeds, I love them as I still own the mt-07 but supermoto has always been top dog for me. You can cruise and commute on supermotos too, you can do a little bit of everything, super versatile bikes. Have you had any issues with your mono? Any recalls? That was my main concern with that bike being a brand new first year bike.
@@CycleCruza I have had zero issues. It's had it's first service and even though I ride like a hooligan psychopath when on it, it continues to run silky smooth. Maybe my experience with the RVE is a outlier, idk as I don't know of anyone else living around me who has one. But so far it's my favourite supermoto I've been on.
@@logangodofcandy As far as motorcycles are concerned yes I think naked bikes are best for commuting. With a more upright body position meaning your back won't hate you when you arrive to work. If you're worried about wind protection adding a screen can easily solve that. Between naked bikes and supermotos, naked bikes are more practicable and supermotos are more fun.

I really want a Sumo, have a naked Suzuki 650, a lot of fun, but when I rode an enduro I felt like a boss, a hooligan, haven't rode a Sumo yet, but its the same stance
It depends on what you want to do. if you want to be a proper hooligan you'll have way more fun on the supermoto. I owned a MT-09 and sold it for a MT-07 which i like better. Yeah the MT-09 was a bit faster but I enjoy the MT-07 more. If you want a more versatile bike the KTM 690 SMC R is the better choice.
@@exothermal.sprocket Yeah I hear the 21+ is much better but how much more content could I do on the MT-09? The chassis is still similar from what I've seen at the dealership. What I love about the MT-07 is that is the chassis is more cruiser-like, laid back and low feel but yet sporty, a great grunty hood bike.
@@CycleCruza When you talk of motorcycle chassis, it's a game of millimeters for big changes. You wouldn't notice by looking at a dealership unless you have a trained eye for design and function. You have to ride one. Even if you don't get another CP3 bike, don't pass up a chance to ride a 21+ MT-09 if you have one. The suspension would be best in SP version, but either way, it's much improved. Biggest thing is the lowering of the front head yoke a significant amount, and shortening the travel of the forks. Front end feel is very noticeably different and overall stability is very much improved. I own an 18 model and I noticed a drastic difference on a demo ride (21-23 model) at low speed before even leaving the parking lot. 2024 improves this further. It's not perfect from factory, but what is. Everything sub 20 grand can be improved with suspension work (both spring rates and damping, but as well geometry by swingarm anti-squat angle adjustment).
I agree! I forget to use it because I grand the clutch without even thinking because I've only ever had one bike that had a QS (Tuono) and I didn't have it very long. I love the quickshifter on this KTM. Thanks for reminding me!
good stuff cyclecruza i like your inspirational shit. I've been a ducati and aprilia fanboy for awhile but wanted a change so picked up the ktm 890 smt. It took about 2500 miles before i really began to like it and now it's just fantastic
I'm not ready to purchase a bike yet. For now, I just want to buy gear and earn my license. Thinking about how to pay for all that makes me more anxious than thinking about possible dangers on the road. Letting go of a penny-pinching mindset is the right thing to do, but it's easier said than done. Thanks for posting inspirational videos on your channel!

Recently purchased my 2024 mt09 in black. I absolutely love it. However I have to try a real SM to compare it myself. Maybe I will have both in my garage soon. KTM or Ducati? I do like the colors on the Husky as well. Great videos keep it up!
Supermoto are the best for supermoto, hence the name lol. Naked bikes are great all around for the street. Two completely different machines and types of riding.
Me and cousin were having this debate couple hours ago. Conclussion if you live in city and barely get out than sm makes sense. Nakeds just win when talking higher speeds for longer distances on country roads
It depends on how fast you want to go, if you are content at 100 mph and below this 690 is great for doing a little bit of everything. Either way, you can't go worng with a naked or supermoto, both are great but the supermoto is more versatile.

If Yamaha released a WR450X and kept it in the lower 300s of lbs I’d be in heaven. If they released a 700cc thumper to compete with KTM & Co. and the Ducati? Endless orgasm. Honda too but Yamaha usually goes beefier. The WR250X is a tough little mofo with a little race engine.Supermoto revolution. Unstoppable.
I just don't understand why Yamaha refuses to make a supermoto, same with Honda. Honda can easily make a CRF450L Supermoto. The WR250R/X is a great lil bike, bulletproof. I spent more money in mods for that bike than I paid for it brand new. lol
@@CycleCruza I honestly think Yamaha expected the WR250X to be a huge hit when they released it in 2008 but it didn’t do the numbers they had hoped because it was way ahead of its time. So they dropped the X and continued with the WRR for the lucrative dual sport segment. They even partnered with Bridgestone to develop the Battleaxe BT-090 specifically for the WRX, which are really fun, playful tires with a peaky profile for quick turn in that are still on the market today. The WRX on those tires just dances down the road-ridiculous fun. People should think of the WRX as a big Grom. The obsession with power is antithetical to certain bikes. This bike doesn’t need it. Exhaust, rear sprocket, fuel controller, hi-flow filter, drop the emissions crap and you are golden. More fun than you can imagine 55mph and below IF you are a skilled rider-particularly if your low speed skills are on par. The more I develop my skill set the more fun that bike becomes. The WRX is also a road magnet on Heidenau K80s. 120 front, 140 rear gives you essentially the same tire height front and back (like a dirt tracker) and grips like crazy. Just stupid fun bouncing around town and through twisties. American obsession with power is lunkhead goofiness. Agility is King on the streets!
I like naked sport like the mt09 and the cb1000r. I dont like supermoto or the single thumpers. Im planning to get either bike in the near future. Not the supermoto.
Cycle Cruza says “supermotos are light and easy to throw around”. Won’t throw around or wheelie the KTM!!😂 Just ball bustin, I get it though enjoy what you like, that’s what’s awesome about bikes, the variety. I would love to have one of each type if I had the garage space and time. But I live in Boca so a middle to heavy weight naked reins supreme for me out here. You know how I95 gets, you need a bit of speed to be faster than South Florida traffic. This ain’t no relaxed Cleveland, Ohio. People drive like sh!t down here.

I saved about $2500, I would have never bought it at full price. The full MASRP price is a bit too high, same with their other bikes. The 790 Duke is priced pretty good tho for all that you get.

When you take off on your Yamaha it doesn't sound like it's bogging out like the 690 does The 690 sounds weak at the very beginning not as good as the Yamaha
It is because the stupid traction control needs to be turned off every time you start the bike, the most annoying thing about this bike. I forget to do it. This 690 is a beast buit the YZ still feels more raw and wild but you get sick of doing oil changes if you ride it too much. Also, I keep forgetting this bike has a quick shifter. lol I'm not used to a QS because the last time I had a bike they had it was on that Aprilia Tuono. It is just natural to grad the clutch to shift without thinking. However, I prefer the qs for fast shifts, fun.

You can't go wrong with either type of bike but I'm a fool for supermotos. Nakeds are cool but you can only ride on the street, can't be as mucb of a hooligan on it like you can on a supermoto. However, maybe it is a good thing to not be such a hooligan. 😂
It has one, I just forget to use it brecause I'm not used to it. I;ve only ever had one bike that ha da QS so I grab the clutch without thinking about it.
I have a '22 ktm 890 duke R and a '23 ktm 690 smcr. Hands down the 890 duke is a much more fun bike. Handles better than the sumo and so much more power, 121 hp vs 74. Only weighs 50 pounds more also. The sumo is a fun bike but doesn't have the power and speed of the 890. I plan on selling the sumo next spring.

Facts are a naked bike is best for cruising and commuting and overall riding, but a supermoto is exactly what you want when hooligan fun is the goal. The Mono RVE is the best purchase I've made in years. The grin I have when I ride it, only my Grom comes close to being as much fun.

Nice! No hate on nakeds, I love them as I still own the mt-07 but supermoto has always been top dog for me. You can cruise and commute on supermotos too, you can do a little bit of everything, super versatile bikes. Have you had any issues with your mono? Any recalls? That was my main concern with that bike being a brand new first year bike.
@@CycleCruza I have had zero issues. It's had it's first service and even though I ride like a hooligan psychopath when on it, it continues to run silky smooth. Maybe my experience with the RVE is a outlier, idk as I don't know of anyone else living around me who has one. But so far it's my favourite supermoto I've been on.

@@logangodofcandy As far as motorcycles are concerned yes I think naked bikes are best for commuting. With a more upright body position meaning your back won't hate you when you arrive to work. If you're worried about wind protection adding a screen can easily solve that. Between naked bikes and supermotos, naked bikes are more practicable and supermotos are more fun.

In all honesty for the price of that SMCR you can get a brand new MT09 SP. In my opinion it's a way better bike.

It depends on what you want to do. if you want to be a proper hooligan you'll have way more fun on the supermoto. I owned a MT-09 and sold it for a MT-07 which i like better. Yeah the MT-09 was a bit faster but I enjoy the MT-07 more. If you want a more versatile bike the KTM 690 SMC R is the better choice.
Amen to that. And if Cruza would sample the 21-23 or the 2024 MT-09 he'd realize it's a COMPLETELY different machine than before.
@@exothermal.sprocket Yeah I hear the 21+ is much better but how much more content could I do on the MT-09? The chassis is still similar from what I've seen at the dealership. What I love about the MT-07 is that is the chassis is more cruiser-like, laid back and low feel but yet sporty, a great grunty hood bike.
@@CycleCruza When you talk of motorcycle chassis, it's a game of millimeters for big changes. You wouldn't notice by looking at a dealership unless you have a trained eye for design and function. You have to ride one. Even if you don't get another CP3 bike, don't pass up a chance to ride a 21+ MT-09 if you have one.
The suspension would be best in SP version, but either way, it's much improved. Biggest thing is the lowering of the front head yoke a significant amount, and shortening the travel of the forks. Front end feel is very noticeably different and overall stability is very much improved. I own an 18 model and I noticed a drastic difference on a demo ride (21-23 model) at low speed before even leaving the parking lot. 2024 improves this further. It's not perfect from factory, but what is. Everything sub 20 grand can be improved with suspension work (both spring rates and damping, but as well geometry by swingarm anti-squat angle adjustment).
Got my 698 Mono with full Termi one month ago, first service on friday. Sumos rule!

I agree! I forget to use it because I grand the clutch without even thinking because I've only ever had one bike that had a QS (Tuono) and I didn't have it very long. I love the quickshifter on this KTM. Thanks for reminding me!

All the components on the 690 smcr is from top shelf compared to the rest.
That's why it is so expensive, you pay for what you get.
Recently purchased my 2024 mt09 in black. I absolutely love it. However I have to try a real SM to compare it myself. Maybe I will have both in my garage soon. KTM or Ducati? I do like the colors on the Husky as well. Great videos keep it up!

Me and cousin were having this debate couple hours ago. Conclussion if you live in city and barely get out than sm makes sense. Nakeds just win when talking higher speeds for longer distances on country roads
It depends on how fast you want to go, if you are content at 100 mph and below this 690 is great for doing a little bit of everything. Either way, you can't go worng with a naked or supermoto, both are great but the supermoto is more versatile.
I almost got a Yamaha mt07, it's a very smooth bike & has great acceleration too.

If Yamaha released a WR450X and kept it in the lower 300s of lbs I’d be in heaven. If they released a 700cc thumper to compete with KTM & Co. and the Ducati? Endless orgasm. Honda too but Yamaha usually goes beefier. The WR250X is a tough little mofo with a little race engine.Supermoto revolution. Unstoppable.
I just don't understand why Yamaha refuses to make a supermoto, same with Honda. Honda can easily make a CRF450L Supermoto. The WR250R/X is a great lil bike, bulletproof. I spent more money in mods for that bike than I paid for it brand new. lol
@@CycleCruza I honestly think Yamaha expected the WR250X to be a huge hit when they released it in 2008 but it didn’t do the numbers they had hoped because it was way ahead of its time. So they dropped the X and continued with the WRR for the lucrative dual sport segment. They even partnered with Bridgestone to develop the Battleaxe BT-090 specifically for the WRX, which are really fun, playful tires with a peaky profile for quick turn in that are still on the market today. The WRX on those tires just dances down the road-ridiculous fun. People should think of the WRX as a big Grom. The obsession with power is antithetical to certain bikes. This bike doesn’t need it. Exhaust, rear sprocket, fuel controller, hi-flow filter, drop the emissions crap and you are golden. More fun than you can imagine 55mph and below IF you are a skilled rider-particularly if your low speed skills are on par. The more I develop my skill set the more fun that bike becomes. The WRX is also a road magnet on Heidenau K80s. 120 front, 140 rear gives you essentially the same tire height front and back (like a dirt tracker) and grips like crazy. Just stupid fun bouncing around town and through twisties. American obsession with power is lunkhead goofiness. Agility is King on the streets!
I like naked sport like the mt09 and the cb1000r. I dont like supermoto or the single thumpers. Im planning to get either bike in the near future. Not the supermoto.
You should try a supermoto before knocking it, you will be surprised on how fun they are.

I saved about $2500, I would have never bought it at full price. The full MASRP price is a bit too high, same with their other bikes. The 790 Duke is priced pretty good tho for all that you get.

When you take off on your Yamaha it doesn't sound like it's bogging out like the 690 does The 690 sounds weak at the very beginning not as good as the Yamaha
It is because the stupid traction control needs to be turned off every time you start the bike, the most annoying thing about this bike. I forget to do it. This 690 is a beast buit the YZ still feels more raw and wild but you get sick of doing oil changes if you ride it too much. Also, I keep forgetting this bike has a quick shifter. lol I'm not used to a QS because the last time I had a bike they had it was on that Aprilia Tuono. It is just natural to grad the clutch to shift without thinking. However, I prefer the qs for fast shifts, fun.

I have a '22 ktm 890 duke R and a '23 ktm 690 smcr. Hands down the 890 duke is a much more fun bike. Handles better than the sumo and so much more power, 121 hp vs 74. Only weighs 50 pounds more also. The sumo is a fun bike but doesn't have the power and speed of the 890. I plan on selling the sumo next spring.
