Grew up in LA pretending to play jazz trumpet. Blue was our favorite hometown guy. Lotta greats there playing great-Candoli, Shew, Jack Sheldon…but Blue was our special hero.

Note: the 'ghost' note was actually a clam. I've heard Blue do a better solo in just a 16 bar phrase than anyone playing all night long. Blue's one of the BEST!! (if ya can find it, his take on a song called 'Evergreen' just knocks me out.
