I think at 3:55, it's mostly The Oath/Tell me (with only one 'Eyes on me" or My mind' moment and some succesion of the witches in the violin) But mostly Tell me/Ami/Where I belong :)
“Mono no Aware” is a Japanese concept referring to the impermanence, and is reflected here in the way the motifs change and interact throughout. The suite begins with “Liberi Fatali” (0:35), which represents fate and conflict. After the climax of the opening, a lone violin emerges and attempts to find its way. The solo violin will be a recurring character of sorts throughout. A horn tries to guide the violin into “Eyes on Me” (3:50) and they briefly manage to line up in unison, but the violin quickly strays into a fragment of “Succession of Witches” (4:07). The rest of the orchestra brings in fragments of “The Oath” (4:22) and “Ami” (4:29), and then the strings give “The Oath” a proper exposition to introduce the protagonist Squall (4:40). But even here, “Eyes on Me” (4:50) and “Ami” (5:08) make appearances in between phrases; the demands of friendship and romance are ever-present. “The Oath” eventually gives way to “Ami” (6:20), which is now able to reveal itself in full. The solo violin returns with “Succession of Witches” but quickly hesitates, going back and forth with “The Oath” (6:54) before “Ami” asserts itself to the fore again in the orchestra. “The Oath” comes back in on the woodwinds and attempts to find harmony with “Ami”, but the scene changes before it can happen. The exposition for “Eyes on Me” is then given in the form of the familiar “Waltz for the Moon” (7:55). The scene is allowed to play out largely uninterrupted, with a period given to a more tender interaction, but at the climax fate knocks again and “Liberi Fatali” bursts in (10:35) to introduce “The Landing” (10:53). A glimpse of the “The Oath” attempts to galvanize combatants (11:39), but the “Liberi Fatali” elements of “The Landing” escalate and take over the segment. Suddenly a combination of “Eyes on Me”, “The Oath”, and “Ami” break out and appear triumphant (13:11), but as they try to settle down, an echo of “Succession of Witches” rings in the background, and soon the theme finally emerges in full (14:18). The arrangement for “Succession of Witches” begins very quietly, like a spell. When the solo violin returns, it plays “Succession of Witches” very clearly, seemingly under the influence of the instruments hovering around it (15:25). The segment eventually builds into a repetition of the “Fithos Lusec Winosec” chorus, escalating into the battle version of “Succession of Witches” known as “Premonition” (16:18). The beginning of “Premonition” notably includes distorted fragments of “Eyes on Me”, signifying Rinoa’s transformation into a sorceress. The battle shifts gears into “Don’t Be Afraid” (18:06) and then “The Extreme” (18:43) before returning to “Premonition” (19:03). At the climax the “Liberi Fatali” motif (19:39) comes to a head with “The Oath” (19:42), but “The Oath” is not able to prevail on its own. “Liberi Fatali” asserts itself again (19:46), and this time it is a seamless fusion of the “Eyes on Me” and “The Oath” melodies that is able to gain the upper hand (19:50), with “Ami” emerging to join the celebration (20:16). As the piece closes out (20:39) all three protagonist themes weave in and out, now in harmony with each other and not competing: “Ami” is on the horn, “The Oath” is given a cathartic major-key reharmonization on the oboe, and “Eyes on Me” is on the flute. The oboe and flute each echo the last notes of “Ami”, and the solo violin re-enters with a fragment of “The Oath” but does not finish the melody; the suite ends unresolved and open to the future, in line with the “Mono no Aware” theme. -From the VGMOnline Listener's Guide
Thank you so much for posting this! It was really beautiful to read and it really deepened my enjoyment of the music too! I would like to read more of these types of descriptions, from video game music to classical music. It gives such a cool perspective, or almost a look behind the scenes. I really like how the different motifs blend and flow into one another, sometimes opposing eachother and sometimes in harmony. In a way, it tells many parts of the story of the game. I can't imagine how much fun (and hard work) it must have been to make and perform this composition. I wonder what Nobuo Uematsu thought of this; I hope he has heard it!
This gave me goosebumps. And I'm 37 this year. I could never forget all the emotions I felt with this game and all the people I met thanks to it. This will never ever be JUST a game.

The best thing about the old ff games is you don't have to play it to love it you literally can just watch someone play it whoever it is, it can be your siblings or your friends you can just sitting there just watching them play for hours and you love it as much as the one who play it It's happened to me when this game first came out at that time I just to small to understand english language so I just sit there silently watching my brother play this game
I know it might sound ridiculous, but before this game released in North America, my brother was able to get a hold of a copy of the first disc from the Japanese version. I literally had to sneak into his room and steal it to play for a few hours each night, not understanding a word of the story or even basic systems like the Junction stuff. Managed to chisel my way through every battle and boss through the end of disc 1, and had to wait for the NA version to resolve THAT scene, lol.

my god... the climax around 19 mins and on... I'm crying and I've heard this so many times. My horn colleagues out in Stockholm have much to be proud of their playing. They play well on their Alex 103 horns. :D And man... Markus played that concert without an assistant principal... What a champion he is.

Amazing! I love the expression on the conductor's face at 21:58. She's like "wtf...seriously, I can't believe we pulled that off! no, like really." In love with every musician's facial expression shown.
Orchestrating is one of those jobs that probably looks so much easier than it is. As someone who has no idea about that role in the orchestra let me just say this. 1: she looks like she is absolutely killing it out there, and 2, she looks like she is loving it as well!
Orchestra music is so beautiful, when i was a kid didnt care for it, but when growing up i ended appreciating it more and more, and videogames based orchestrations are the best.
Wow.. 10:40 I still remember storming the beach. The videos and action were phenomenal but the music truly inspired and made you feel the intensity and urgency of the moment. Great job guys!
I was in tears through out the whole repertoire. The whole performance gave me a sense of nostalgia where it was just a simple life when I was a kid. Thank you all for this
I was in contact with one of the contractors for final symphony II. He told me that a CD will come eventually... Final Symphony I was unbelievable in its own right. I still get chills hearing it... Just amazing how they can orchestrate entire scores into what they see fit... IE: Tone Poem, Piano Concerto, Symphony, etc... Just unbelievable work.
And this is for every idiot who claims that games aren't art. Games are framing devices for multiple forms of high art! Plus I love how this is a perfect musical summary of the game! Well done!
This my Friends IS like your heart were beating each time you listen your beloved saying the words that you only listened before in your most breathtaked dreams.

リトアニアの女性指揮者Giedrė Šlekytėももっと広く知られていい。本当に素晴らしい。
素敵だと思います!
i'm in tears right now, it is perfection, Nobuo! I really love you!!!!! Thanks for your art!
You made me cry several times .... so wonderful. Nobuo Uematsu is the greatest composers I ever heard, and this Orchestra is honoring his work perfectly! Another comment lost in the dark.
The leitmotifs Uematsu used in the tracks are what made the music of the game so powerful and memorable.
my god... the climax around 19 mins and on... I'm crying and I've heard this so many times. My horn colleagues out in Stockholm have much to be proud of their playing. They play well on their Alex 103 horns. :D And man... Markus played that concert without an assistant principal... What a champion he is.

Orchestrated, it is even more amazing than the original. My respects!
My god is this good. I've watched it like 19 times! You can tell the orchestra really enjoyed playing this. Not just running through the notes. I also played and beat FFVIII back in the day. Brings back such great memories!
13:36 Best Part, when the happy sounds evolve into the mysterious and powerful sounds of Edea. Succession of the Witches, one my absolute favourites in FF8
I hope this gets played one more time in my lifetime so i can witness it in real life.
This! The original Final Symphony keeps getting new dates but not FS II. I sadly missed FS II as I couldn't afford it at the time but FF8 is my fave and this piece is absolutely perfect. I really really hope I get the chance to hear it in person!
@@riry0ku You are invited in my private nobuo uematsu concert i would arrange if i ever win in the lottery, all you have to do is the same if you win first :P

The guys face at 11 minutes, he's just like 'Yes! this is why I play brass!'
This is probably one of the best live performances I have ever seen, and playing to one my fav games of all time. Mind blown
Whatttttttttt this is beautifulllllll. The conducter the symphony the way its pieced together!! Thats amazingggggggggggggggggggggg. I love how she put pieces of the game in together and how in transition to other memorable melody. Wow this is amazing.
That was incredible start to finish so talented every single one of you
Though this isnt my favorite game, I think this is the final fantasy with the best music
This is just perfect on so many levels. I almost cried listing to this masterpiece played with such an amazing performance.
Had to listen the 2nd time around. Imagine listening to this live! What freezer chills will you experience?? I LOVE the arrangement. It's fluid and the pace is astounding!

Just. Wow... This is my first (and fav FF out of the entire series) what a score. Absolute art.
5:31 the enthusiasm of the violist made me smile :) fantastic arrangement of some of the best VGM ever.

I love it.
*Squall*
*"Whatever."*
It's an awesome concert!
Amazing! I love the expression on the conductor's face at 21:58. She's like "wtf...seriously, I can't believe we pulled that off! no, like really." In love with every musician's facial expression shown.
olive4naito she looks like she is a fan lol
@@yunjingoh3658 She is Quistis Trepe!
THIS is the BESt medly Ive ever heard for FF8!
Great job guys!
one of my fav of ff8 songs
gosh this is the best ff8 arrangements I've ever heard. absolute kudos for them! 😍😍😍
I can imagine now...Remake would perfectly define VIII once more...with its beautiful OST
I was in tears through out the whole repertoire. The whole performance gave me a sense of nostalgia where it was just a simple life when I was a kid. Thank you all for this
Omg....first time that I hear The orchestral version and It's incredible
To see this so many years later is just amazing.
I never fully played FF8, but 18:00 to the end is utterly beautiful.
If you evwr playwd almost all is beautifull
this is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. I love FFVIII!
I wuv it more than you cuz I played it and beat it 5 to 10 times
Fantástico!!! Traz muitas memórias... Muito lindo!
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE MAGIC COME TO LIFE.
I love love love love FF8
I was in contact with one of the contractors for final symphony II. He told me that a CD will come eventually... Final Symphony I was unbelievable in its own right. I still get chills hearing it... Just amazing how they can orchestrate entire scores into what they see fit... IE: Tone Poem, Piano Concerto, Symphony, etc... Just unbelievable work.

They just released Final Symphony II on Bandcamp and other streaming services today
Never played the game but this video made me cry. Its so beautiful
OMG....
I love FFVIII.
you misspelled VII
Me to!!
@@JButterZJ Talk about being a cliche.
And this is for every idiot who claims that games aren't art. Games are framing devices for multiple forms of high art!
Plus I love how this is a perfect musical summary of the game! Well done!
Right? Even Uematsu is considered one of the best composers of all time (I'm talking even compared to Mozart, Beethoven, etc)
ElvenAngel loved these games, and agree with you. It's a shame there's not as much heart in a lot of games these days though
He's Made Classic FM's top 10 on atleast 3 seperate occasions.
@@mommozz123 compared to Mozart, lmao
Phenomenal. Truly spectacular rendition of the FF VIII music. Thank you for sharing.
Seeing the music of the FF series being taken this seriously brings tears to my eyes.
Whoever arranged this is legendary.
Ben Herrel
Whoops. It's Roger Wanamo.
かっこよすぎ!Super Cool!
Un Orchestre au top, la première transition musical était parfaitement exécuté, pareillement pour les suivantes ! Un bonheur a l'écoute, Merci !
squaresoft i miss you miss you much thank you for all those games made with love thank you !!!
This my Friends IS like your heart were beating each time you listen your beloved saying the words that you only listened before in your most breathtaked dreams.
This is incredible! The violin is such an incredible instrument.
You can see a few of the musicians really enjoying this medley (the conductor too, obviously), and it results in an amazing performance of music from a game I've spent hundreds of hours playing again and again. Lovely to see such enthusiasm for the music. Thank you!
Greatest composer of our lifetime, may he get well
