You are a god send
Third caller... so many red flags and they got even redder when she said he is more 'traditional' and she thinks everyone else deals with this. Cut your losses and find someone who shares housework, doesn't play video games all the time, and would at least consider therapy if needed. You'll thank yourself in a few years.
Nick had such good insight for the third caller. Especially that her boyfriend has all the power, and I think because she’s so young, she goes along with it. I married at 23 and he was 29, so I know this dynamic well. Our marriage did not last 🤷🏼♀️
Dear first caller, he isn’t checking your story on purpose, he probably clicks through it with everyone elses. If you post a lot you’ll always be at the top and he will click thru you first .
For the love of god, stop weighing in on therapy and therapists. You are not qualified to give advice about it.

People are more likely to go to bars when they have issues than go to a therapist. Some bartenders would have made great therapist.
I used to really love this pod but I feel like it’s declined since Ali and Amanda left. Nick has bad takes at times and I missed when there were other opinions other than Nick.
I have lots of empathy for the first caller. Its important she gives herself grace and understand that social media makes it so easy to maintain limerence. Its was that long ago that we didn't have the information of 'who viewed your story'...and it obviously begs the question (if you're a frequent poster) why your ex would be "keeping up" with you life... Just remember what it feels like to not be that into someone and convince yourself that they feel the same. ie. it's not triggering for them to see you post.
If getting a therapy license is as easy as a bartending one, why doesn’t Nick have one? 🤔

Nick was spot on with the first caller when he told her that's not the reason why he broke up with her but it's the reason why she is still hooked on him. She has wasted her last 2 years with the idea of that guy. It was just a summer fling and he said "deuces".
Second caller is an insecure disaster. It's what a woman provides besides sex that will keep a man. Yes, men will put you in "sex only" box, just like women put men in the friend zone. At 31 the caller should know better. The hookup culture is because of women like her, btw.
Third caller is a lot of "me, me, me" vibes. Sounds like she wants to change him. Makes it questionable why she wants him to propose to her and marry him. Marriage wont add any additional level of commitment in her relationship, especially since she isn't sure yet about having kids. I like how Nick called her out for being selectively traditional. Too many women suffer from that.
I loaned money to my son, no interest, so he could buy the ring, because I really loved his girlfriend and knew she would be an awesome wife. So I bet he could borrow from his parents. My son and his wife now have 3 beautiful children, happily married 😍

We only want the ex back if they break up with us. This is because we always want what we can't have. Your mind will tell you people on Instagram are so happy, your friends are so happy, its me who is the problem because I am missing something. If you get him back, you will quickly realize that you don't really like him as much as you liked, it was the feeling that something important is missing and its an illusion 90% of the time. Big part of enjoying life is realizing that being by yourself and being happy is one of the best ways to be ready to be in a healthy relationship. If you can't love you, it almost impossible to let others love you.
Marriage is a serious legal contract. It should not be done in a joking manner

The advice Nick gave in the 3rd caller was all over the place. Nitpicking the laundry argument? It’s more basic. She’s already living with him. He already said he wanted to marry her. He doesn’t have huge red flags. He plays video and sounds like he’s trying to save up for a ring. This doesn’t sound like a toxic relationship. She just needs to ask the question. What do you think your timeline looks like for marriage? Don’t make it bigger than it is. Honestly, therapy isn’t for everyone. There’s so many bad therapists that sometimes make the problem worse. She just needs a little patience and maybe have a timeline conversation.
2nd Caller: It doesn't ruin your chances of marriage but it will make it a lot harder. Why buy the cow when you're getting the milk for free? Most men will ask for sex on the first date as a "test" to see if your wifey material. Saying "no" on the first date is a really good way to weed out the creeps.

Nick IS my therapist. Couldn’t have found this episode at a more perfect time. Always a fan of this pod but never listened to the one on one episodes. New obsession. And ordered book.
