    Your initial videos got me into HA and I'm glad you're expanding. I currently am knee deep in esp8266 sensor building and Tasmota smart plug flashing. My current grow tent is now 100% automated (thanks to you) and I plan to bring it even further. Thanks so much for the instruction and inspiration. I'll be seeing you in the forums!

      Hey that’s awesome! Are you using ESPHome for the 8266s?

    • @deepfriedbutter
      @deepfriedbutter 4 года назад

      @@LEDGardener I am using esphome, yes. I used the Arduino IDE until I found out about esphome. ESPhome blew my mind with the ease and simplicity of the config files and remote upload!

    • @LEDGardener
      @LEDGardener  4 года назад +1

      Yeah it’s incredible. Probably one of the biggest things that got me to stick with HA. If I had to write code for them separately, I likely would have given up.

      @@LEDGardener yeah, esphome and Tasmota/MQTT have made this much easier on my brain. Next step is pH and EC monitoring using esp8266. Something of a more affordable variant than yours. I can't bring myself to buy that tentacle.

      Quick question. I was looking at some of the materials. The pumps for dosing are high compared to some of the cheaper ones. I'm trying to use as many of you links as possible to support. Those pumps and sensors are a heavy pill to swallow lol. Would the cheaper versions present any problems in home assistant?

    Heres a thought, I don't have a pi my pc is on 24/7 though, so I'm setting up home assistant in virtual box, which can be put on a pi. So why not distribute as a vdi?

    Man.. I'm waiting for led light parts and came across your channel because of that but now I got that automation itch again. I still have one 4 channel Sonoff board I bet I could connect with HomeAssistant. One single channel Sonoff burned and I was controlling just a normal house light with and that kinda put me off using them.

      I’m paranoid about stuff like that happening so I’d be hesitant too. I have complete faith in the TP-LINK Kasa smart plugs I’m using though.

    Hello! Cool video! You have chosen a difficult path. Keep a video blog from the basics, for beginners. It deserves respect.
    I have only one wish. It would be great if you showed your yaml automation code and lovelace. For those who have already advanced in the initial settings of Home Assistant, but have not yet used it for such tasks.
    And then we can help each other to improve their projects, without waiting for other newcomers to familiarize themselves with the basics of home assistant.
    With respect to your work.

    I'm using mozilla webthings right now and its ok but theres limitations. When I installed home assistant I had a hard time adding my tasmota devices. Once I get past that I'll be fine but I could use a bit of advice.

    Wow I was just talking about this for my grow room. I do everything by hand an having a raspberry Pi automation would be amazing. My brother works at Micro Center so finding the equipment will be easy. Just setting it up, might need some help lol. But this video is amazing, I just haven't pulled the trigger yet. 😑

    Love the build but what part is not breaking bank your build cost here in Amazon Canada over $2200 with out shipping costs or taxes that is out of most hobbyist building if you could come up with a video showing modular that a person could add to as they go along that would be awesome keep up the amazing videos thanks

    • @LEDGardener
      @LEDGardener  4 года назад +1

      I wasn’t really focussed on keeping my build as cheap as possible. It can certainly be done with cheaper parts, which is what I aim to show in this series. I’d be curious to see what a preassembled version with the same capabilities would cost.
