When my Larry PMM comes in December or January next year, Wizard HR is my next target. Larry and Wizard stereo would be crushing. Congrats on the new amp. And nice collection.
This is a lot more open sounding, bigger, and more punchy while still staying tight then the Uber Ultra. This has 4 gain knobs for each gain stage and each one has a pull boost so has a ton of flexibility of gain type. You can go from very tight and dry like a VHT Ultra lead to very aggressive and saturated.
@@Mr_WoodchuckFrom what I’ve read, the Uber Ultra gets pretty close though. Do you think the Wizard is genuinely worth double the money, or is it closer than that?
@@Trails_Ales_and_Sigma_Males Definitely worth the money compared to the Uber Ultra. The Wizard has a lot more punch and is a lot more open sounding then the Ultra. For me personally it's worth selling 2 of my amps for this amp. Now my Uberschall Rev Green, VH4, and Herbert can get somewhat in the ballpark of this amp but the HR has even more of an organic sound.
I own a Herbert and have some experience with the VH4. That being said how would you rate and compare those amps to the Wizard?? Ive never even seen one in the wild. Is that girthy price tag noticeable and “worth it”??
It is insane. I just got it a half an hour ago and still trying to figure it out. There is gain and versatility for days with 4 gain knobs and 4 gain pull boosts. The instant I turned it on I was just "wow" this is worth the price. Stays super super tight and large. Will be able to get into Meshuggah territory without a boost no problem.
@@Mr_Woodchuck Hard to comprehend how much better something could be than the Herbert or VH4. Unfortunately I’ve never played any super high end top shelf best of the best amps before. Like a Wizard or a Mezzabarba etc level of amp. The Diezels and maybe a Pitbull Ultra Lead are probably the highest end amps I’ve been able to play
@@Mike_HuntizWet I love the VH4 and Herbert. This amp has more control over the gain structure since you have a knob per gain stage. Allows it to get extremely tight or full.

Make a clip when you get your Larry.
How does this compare to the Uber Ultra?

@@Mr_Woodchuck So you think the Wizard is better?
@@mattvdh Yes, it's my number 1 at this point

@@Mr_Woodchuck A knob per gain stage 🤔 Interesting
