OG Soap death: died because the situation was personal with Price, it's more realistic in a sense Price had Soap as the only person in TF141 that close to him in combat.
Remake Soap: died like an idiot and not as painful as in the remake since Soap didn't reveal any revelations to Price.

@@alexlpez6739it’s really not intense. Real? Eh, probably. But I really don’t get the ‘rEaLiSm’ argument when you’re playing a schlocky video game. We’ll just ignore how Makarov is like a cartoon moustache twirling villain in this game. The OG was dramatic - because it had emotional stakes. Barely any time with this version of Soap in comparison. Plus, death rarely has any meaning in CoD these days when characters who clearly died on screen are just brought back for bundles and then into the Warzone story.
Though I like how grounded this new Soap's death is, nothing beats the melodramatic sadness of the OG when Price just hopelessly calls out his name.
Plus, him launching himself and Yuri from an exploding building; followed by you futiley(??) carrying him through the streets of Paris; only to die in Price's arms revealing Yuri's secret.
Here? I don't know, Makarov gets one extra headshot camo I guess.
Edit: Watch out for the glue-sniffer that tried to start an argument, and then got pissy when someone responded to his points.

I remember playing the original MW3 and seeing Soap lose so much blood, thinking to myself, “Man, how is he going to survive this?” Turns out he simply doesnt
The OG series wasnt grounded at all and thats what made it badass, being a grunt in the middle of all out war in Washington. These new missions are lame im trying to play COD not watch 2 hours of cutscenes.
This entire game just felt so soulless
They're trying to appeal to the new kids who never played the OG modern warfare series that heard about the games a lot and want to play them but think they're too old so now the devs are trying to reboot it thinking this will be the next legendary cod campaign... They know OG cod players are slowly being replaced by these new kids who literally buy every garbage trendy triple A game with good trailers that end up being absolute trash games.

@@alexjackyperson101 Yeah, MW2019 has the best campaign gameplay out of the three 100% and the story is actually not that bad besides like some missions having literally no context besides "you're a tacticool operator and you gotta do missions lol" but the characters were really good.

It's so fking trash, the reboots lacked the oomph of the orginals.. They robbed us of a chance to deal retribution to makarov by having a train roll in deus ex machina... Obviously The devs wanna drag out the story till the next game.. Or have us play their crap warzone to see more story..

7:27 Seeing Makarov shot Soap in the head is bad enough, but the worst part is we had to see it happened in the same angle as we saw Ghost got killed by Shepherd in the original MW2.

It's like dying to a sectoid with 1hp and 10% accuracy. There's no way Makarov should've been able to survive getting stabbed in the neck, much less overpower Soap and shoot him in the head with the arm that was on the same side that he got stabbed.

Soap died twice by Makarov's hand. First after a failed assasination attempt amd blood loss, now while defusing a bomb with Price. His efforts didn't go in vain though. I hope his name got on the Clocktower at Hereford like in the original MW3

I feel Soap’s death was anticlimactic for me because it happens so fast you barely have anytime to process what just happened
I get what you mean, and it did feel like that when I saw it this game. But I find this new one refreshing and in line with the tone of this game. It really shows that 141 were ready for any risk and they had all fully accepted the reality of death at any moment in their ops. The funeral and burial at sea was great imo, because it showed the teams compassionate side and that they wanted mourn for soap as a friend, not as a comrade.

@@ilyaanawrozi8394 Nah.. It was inconsistant how they made them invincible in the first two games, and now everything was abrupt and anticlimactic. Really dumb down the story IMO. Plus the fact that it's a 4 hour or less campaign add's insult to injury. I've seen small DLC last longer than that.
But that's realistic, deaths r unexpected sometimes, though i also wish to see his death as a sacrifice like alex did but i think soap's death was well made, it gives you no warning just like real life

Imo this game’s story was a hell of a lot better than the train wreck that was MW2, I honestly didn’t think they would be able to salvage it with how bad that was. It’s still no where close to being one of the best COD stories, but imo this was at least better than MW2.
Honestly I hope the Microsoft deal helps COD actually be good again. Ngl I’d love to see an AW2 or IW2, despite how much hate those games get I think it was just due to how COD keeps going in a trend rather than having distinct games and they’re doing it again. Imagine COD if Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer, and Treyarch could do their own shit again instead of hoping on whatever trends Activision think will be profitable.
OG Soap death was a slow motion cinematic shot, new soap death is fucking brutal
They really went full OG on this one, remember in the OG Ghost immediately gets killed not something like a heroic sacrifice or something, just bang. Same goes for Soap in this reboot, not a heroic sacrifice (a bit of an heroic sacrifice he saved price). Just BANG, no sad music or anything, he was just straight killed immediately without even an warning.
And one hell of a something, Price is definitely gonna wrap that rope on Makarov again.
I hope as a twist it's Garrick who kills Makarov. He was the 'Soap' equivalent in MW2019 and grows as a character under Price's tutelage in this series.

@@thatoneguy2816 yep but you know how sick and twisted COD MW was, Gaz getting shot in the head as he stare at Zakhaev, Ghost and Roach being burned (I think Roach was still alive considering in the remaster he grabbed Shepherd's hands as he tries to stop him, and Soap's final words to price as he bleeds out on the table and die before his corpse was left. (Considering his death on the OG MW3 the BTRs probably shred his body along with the resistance members.) Also the fact in the OG No Russian Allen's corpse (who was undercover) was used to set up the American government causing the whole war.

Except in the OG ones we actually had character development and time to know them...the new MW trilogy is absolute trash in comparison to the OG trilogy. Saying otherwise just tells me you're lying to yourself or you've never actually played the OG trilogy
I can't bear to see the scene where the TF-141 actually witnesses Soap's death in front of their eyes, in the OG trilogy, only Price had to go through the pain but in the reboot, everyone felt a rather very personal loss and all these happened so quickly that it took us some time to understand and shocking.

I hope Activision makes a DLC of Soap's journal like in the OG trilogy, that would more likely lessen the pain of us fans 🥺
In the original TF-141 was soap, yuri, and price plus has disbanded. Everyone else was dead which made it all the more powerful when it was just price smoking with a dead makarov swingin

Rebooted Soap's death was shocking and disturbingly quick.
I think the rebooted version left me feeling very sad and angry. More so than the OG.

See what people is missing here is Soap finally got a funeral as a hero instead of a disavowed soldier who essentially stopped existing. He died with honor trying to protect those he cared about. As for Shepherd’s death I still think they missed the opportunity of having Price tell Shepherd. “Good, that’s one less loose end.” I think that would have been pure poetry and a fantastic callback only the tables turned around.

I know the fanbase was really looking forward to some proper emotional stakes in the remakes but they could've kept Soap alive I think. I wasn't ready to see the lad go a second time.
So Price just kills Shepherd like that and we're supposed to be like "yeah cool revenge scene" or is the game actually trying to tell a story indicating that Price may draw the line way further and go rogue?

There have been only a few things I really enjoyed in this game:
-Ghost as a character, I like how menacing he is and how caring.
-Makarov is still a good villain
-The plane Mission was awesome
-TF141 is solid
-Nikolai
-Price and his badass moments like killing Shepard or the look he gives Makarov in the Heli Cutscene at the Verdansk mission.
Gosh, I felt like it was so rushed and well what do you know, Makarov's still standing so no question that Modern Warfare 4 will definitely pop up.
I also remember their comms in the stealth mission back in MW2, "I wanna grow up and be like you LT" Damn,..hits heavy now. Considering he was the youngest in 141? But anyways, still a great Campaign, cinematic-wise too.
Plus: Would've opt for a gun's blazing mission to kill Shepherd but the Captain make sure that he paid the Price in the coldest way possible, silent and deadly :)

I think the OG Soap death's is much more sad than the reboot one. The reason is the OG Soap is with us the longest and the the relationship with Price is much stronger so when the OG Soap died we all sad that he died also sad for price that pretty much most of his friend are died at that point. And the Reboot Soap deaths is quicker since Soap debut in MW2 and his death in MW3 so we are not so attached with him unlike the OG.
Well og MW treated them as action heroes soap having a death like that made sense in the og this one is more realistic soldiers can die at any moment this death is supposed to have shock than be sad because it can happen at any moment.

There’s two antagonists in the game. One is saved for a later entry and the other is killed NOT EVEN BY YOU. It’s a fucking CUTSCENE

They really missed an opportunity for Ghost to have a really emotional moment, given his closeness with Soap during MWII. They had a very sibling like relationship going. I thought for sure Ghost would take his mask off while spreading Soap's ashes, seemed like that would've been a great emotional beat.
I feel it's more that Ghost was keeping the mask on because he was emotional, he wasn't comfortable taking it off even in a private moment.

Should've been Gaz or Alex or Farah (or Laswell) or any established character. Soap was just.... there and there's no character development for him at all in this game and he went out like an NPC. If it was any of the 3 characters I've mentioned, especially Gaz, he started in London, and if he went out in London also, I might feel something.
I'm so glad I didn't buy this game. MW2019 had a good campaign, made good use of it's new style, I didn't think it was better than the original but was especially excited because of the TF141 post-credits scene. I preordered MW2 to play the campaign early, and it was so... Weird? The gameplay was fine, but I had no clue what was going on with the story, it was so random, even with the added Warzone backstory stuff. The original MW storyline was extremely focused, this one felt like they were throwing ideas to the wind. Clearly MW3 isn't any better story-wise, and gameplay wise it's just DMZ areas where you fight bots to stall for time (Which is even shorter than usual for a CoD campaign.) What a waste.
MW2019 was more of like a realistic, special operations type things. That's stuff that you could imagine them doing in real life. The last two have been like super intense, killing 50+ people on your own type vibes. It's just not good
Johnny "Soap" Mactavish Was a great Character all around from the OG Modern Warfare games to the (Current) Modern Warfare games...Ghost better get Revenge for him...
Of the three that Died in the original he was the first to go in the reboot...

Soap's death hit me the hardest since he carried the last game
The reboot makarov feels so much more of a threat and a challenge than og makarov, og just killed the presidents escort and kidnapped him and his daughter, and then got a cool death. This makarov is so much more involved and in Soap’s death, in the og he kills him indirectly but in the reboot he actually shoots him himself, also he took on capt price and soap at once, and shot soap atleast twice
Both are one but different man Og makarov is a silent killer a puppet master who pulls strings behind the scenes he killed way more people than the new one too and the new makarov is more into direct confrontations like he killed soap straight up
