The vocal melodies and lyrics were written by myself over the course of this week.
The story behind them is a simple one but a touching one.
It tells the life cycle of a young girl, from birth to death. The start of the song tells about her childlike wonder and rapture at the world, how everything felt bathed in golden sunshine - and how she could not understand why her family were so stony-faced. She closes her eyes in wonder.
Moving into becoming a young woman, her life becomes more regimented as she understands her responsibilities and her knows her place, becoming more stony-faced. She begins to let go of her childlike behaviours.
Ending as an old woman, her memories are far from her youthful days but more with her family who have passed.
The song finishes with a repetition of the chorus which is her passing into the next life.
